“Oasis” will be presented live in Cleveland this summer as part of BorderLight International Theatre + Fringe Festival
“Oasis” The year is 1956. Paris, the city of lights, is still recovering from World War II. The war drums seem far away. Noël, a young painter, lives in Montmartre, paints on the banks of the River Seine, and falls in love. He served as a paratrooper, and, like many others his age, he’s been sent to fight Algerian rebels in the Sahara Desert. He isn’t a pacifist, nor a communist, but at war, far from his homeland, he will face moral dilemmas that will confront him with the question: to be or not to be. This is a story about someone who agreed to lose everything in order to save his conscience. “Oasis” received the Award for Best Show at Teatronetto Festival in 2019. • To register visit jewishcleveland.org/arts

See renowned Israeli luthier (violin maker) Amnon Weinstein’s workshop come alive in more than 30 large scale photographs by Daniel Levin. The first photographer to document Amnon’s workshop in Tel Aviv, Levin captures a one-of-a-kind collection of violins that survived the Holocaust and the artful process for restoring them. The photographer’s uncanny ability to celebrate both place and process through the beauty of light is nothing short of remarkable. • To view the exhibition please make an appointment by contacting skoletsky@ttti.org or calling 216-831-3233.

“Unfolding Nature: Dancing Through Waves,” consists of a series of vibrant paintings, filled with characteristic biomorphic shapes that have been deliberately exaggerated and infused with harmony. The choreography of the work is laced with intense forms and unexpected colorations. The work is based upon the visual images derived from other disciplines, particularly that of music. The compositions are precisely correct and Rivnay succeeds in his efforts to find order in abstraction. Shony Rivnay is an interdisciplinary Israeli-American artist based in Tel Aviv, Israel. He works in various media including painting, sculpture, video, installation, and performance. He has exhibited solo shows in numerous locations around the globe including Berlin, Germany, Venice, Tokyo, and South Korea as well as Tel Aviv and New York City. Rivnay’s works are in private and public collections worldwide. He holds a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, Israel.

Across Cleveland, dozens of world-class arts institutions contribute to the region’s cultural capital and economic vitality. FRONT International harnesses these assets into a large-scale contemporary arts event that aims to be one of the most important cultural destinations in North America. The second iteration of FRONT will include artist commissions, performances, films, and public programs that take place across Cleveland, Akron, and Oberlin. Oh, Gods of Dust and Rainbows, the theme of FRONT International 2022, embraces art as an agent of transformation, a mode of healing, and a therapeutic process. The title is an homage to a 1957 poem by author Langston Hughes, who moved to Cleveland in his childhood and maintained an artistic connection to the region. • For information visit frontart.org
