with Assaf Gavron

Presented by Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at CWRU

Tuesday, February 15 @ 12:30 pm

Virtual

Join Assaf Gavron, Israeli writer and translator, to explore the role of politics within contemporary Israeli fiction. Does life in such a politically charged environment influence the kind of fiction, and other art forms, created within it? What is the role of authors in such an environment? Are they expected to deal with political situations – possibly even have an obligation to do so? Or perhaps politics is a burden, a topic that they cannot escape from?

Acclaimed Israeli writer, Assaf Gavron, has published six novels, a collection of short stories, and a non-fiction collection of Jerusalem falafel-joint reviews, “Eating Standing Up.” His fiction has been translated into 12 languages, adapted for the stage at Israel’s national theater, and optioned for movies.
