RPI Athletic Village Master Plan Troy, New York

Program Two synthetic turf fields, Two natural grass fields 400 meter outdoor track, Tennis courts Fieldhouse with 200 meter track Varsity team / alumni building 2,500 seat arena Strength & conditioning center 7,500 seat stadium Initial phase of the East Campus Athletic Village encompasses a new stadium and home field planned for 7,500 seats, a basketball arena with a dedicated practice gymnasium, and a 10,000 square-foot sports training facility. Subsequent phases include improvements to Houston Field House, home of the Institute’s championship Division 1 Hockey team, a 50 meter pool, and a 60,000 square-foot indoor track and field facility. The buildings and fields are organized around a major pedestrian piazza that will serve crowds on major game days and will become a social center on East Campus. Sasaki’s plan brings order and flow to pedestrian movement through a series of east/west pedestrian spines across the sloping topography of East Campus. A series of terraces are created providing the flat areas necessary for sport facilities and fields.

Program Cafe and Lobby Conference Center Public outreach program space Counselling center Library and literacy center Classrooms and study space Office for professors and graduate students In order to upgrade their graduate and undergraduate education programs, the College of William & Mary is Constructing a new 113,900 square foot facility for the School of Education (SOE) on a twenty-five acre parcel previously occupied by and adjacent to its main campus and Williamsburg Community Hospital. The project began with a conceptual master plan for the site. The master plan identified locations for the SOE, approximately 240,000 gross square feet of future development, and parking for the initial and subsequent phases. At the same time, the program for the SOE was tested and refined.

The goal of the master plan is to create a world-class contemporary setting on the riverfront for Cincinnati by reconnecting the heart of the city, Fountain Square, to the Ohio River. The 32-acre central riverfront park is the remaining and largest jewel to be implemented in a series of smaller public parks on the high banks of the downtown portion of the Ohio River. The Central Riverfront Park will complete the necklace on the Cincinnati riverfront and tie to a much larger statewide recreation trail and bike system that concludes in Columbus, Ohio, approximately 75 miles to the north. The park acts as a setting and catalyst for civic activities and entertainment venues such as the new National Underground Freedom Center, Paul Brown Stadium (home of the Cincinnati Bengals) and the Great American Ballpark (home of the Cincinnati Reds), supported in partnerships with private and public funds. Planned in the district is a six- block, mixed-use development that will bring roughly 400 residential units and office and commercial activities into the waterfront district. The park program includes the creation of an appropriate setting for the Roebling Bridge, a historically significant architectural icon, along with areas for large gatherings, passive recreation, and programmed events. The park also provides opportunities to integrate art into public spaces. A design workshop with sculptor Albert Paley was held to search for park gateway expressions to celebrate the waterfront park.
