the editor It has been an overwhelming year for Culiat.
Working in the background for the past 5 years has allowed me to see the chapter and its people in a different light. You see, I get to be objective (somehow), to carefully observe and assess, to intently listen and process, to be a fresh set of eyes and offer a different point of view.

This year, I tell you, in my most honest view, is one of Culiat’s bests.
Charlene Mae Torres
The past 71 years have put us on the map – working hand in hand with all sorts of NGOs, LGUs, private and individual partners, other JCI chapters, and our own 71-year old membership. Our long-term TTKD and Alay Skills projects are some of the most celebrated projects in JCI Philippines and in the province. The leaders that we produce drive both business and political landscapes in the local and national scenes. Our Baby Jaycee Program is a multiawarded, intensive leadership training that has differentiated us among others. This year alone, Culiat has achieved many firsts.

I am honestly in awe at how Pres. Kate, her BOD, Directors’ Club, and BJCs managed to pull off what I can only describe as the busiest, most productive term I have witnessed in Culiat. Imagine 82 projects from January to November 2023 alone. 5.1M total funds raised not only because of the comeback of TTKD, but of prior projects and efforts that have allowed us to partner with more corporate, individual, and government offices. We are also celebrating a new international sisterhood with JCI Akashi of Japan.
With all that has happened – both in what most members see and what they do not – we realize that a term this whole-rounded and celebrated is possible. That it is possible to tap members who have long “graduated” from their prime JCI years, or however you put it. That it is possible to seek support and actually get it, even from people you have never worked with in the past.
While it may be true that not all would want or would get the chance to be part of the organization, we, who embraced the JCI life, are still as diverse as it could get. Our political views, social status, family backgrounds, aspirations, reasons, and purpose vary. This leads me to my point – leading Culiat entails asking the right question, in the most personal way, differently among each member.
As I browsed the content of this
fifth and last Bulung Culiat of 2023, I read how VP Frankie described Pres Kate, and it inspired me. He said, “It’s the way you asked that started it”. And I couldn't agree more.
I think it is important to note how we often expect members to just show up after we publicly announce projects. Or how we expect them to shell out resources just because we have the same cause. I believe all of Culiat’s achievements this year would not be possible if the BOD and Pres Kate did not ask members the right way.
This part is personal to me. When the struggles of personal life hit at the middle of the term, I found myself in a coffee shop, sharing my most vulnerable thoughts to Pres Kate, telling her I might need to resign. But then she asked me, “how can we help ease the burden, sister?”
“It’s About Us All” is not simply about creating projects that cater to members’ needs and wants. This term, it has also been about the process – from asking sincerely, making sure that members’ contributions no matter how small can help the chapter, to thanking each one wholeheartedly because we recognize that the chapter is not the institution that it is now without its members.
Indulge me and let’s raise our glasses to a beautiful year for Culiat, and for us all.
Cheers!
When I first drafted this note, I talked about how being a Jaycee is not for everyone. But I stopped. To be a Jaycee is different for all of us.

Thank you Lord for the 365 days of miracles. A marathon ran by many, crossed as one by your grace.
2023 marks a year of dedication, hard work and the unwavering JCI Angeles City Culiat brand of leadership. True to your theme, 2023 is ABOUT US ALL.
I have found my spot. In every gathering we had this year -- be it a project or just a meeting, I always find myself enjoying the view from the back, having a sight of everyone talking to one another, exchanging thoughts, stories, and cheers. I try not to stare but I want to remember your faces and your expressions. Everything is a sight to behold. I see a big happy family in Culiat.
Where do I begin knowing it's the end of a beautiful run? In every angle that I consider, it always brings me back to a place of gratitude.
While a lot of things that have happened, I must admit that none of it were planned. I had 2 things in my pocket -- my faith that God gifted me this leadership opportunity and He will provide for me; and my vision to make Culiat a home to our members, a brotherhood that would go beyond the walls of our organization.
This is by far the hardest message I had to write, not because I don't know what to say, but I want to address each one and thank you for all that you have done and given to me and to our chapter. Writing this message reminds me of the things I wished and said during my inaugural speech back in Febuary 2023.
More than numbers, statistics, and awards, more importance is given on the process of how we did things. The AreaCon awards and NatCon nominations are testaments of your hardwork and the brand of leadership and projects our chapter has. The friendships we built through projects, stories we shared over foods and drinks; relationships are heavenly gifts to be kept and treasured. Maraming salamat sa pagkakaibigan at sa barkadahan. It made everything lighter, happier, and more exciting. Our friendships may have started in Culiat, but I am sure it will go beyond it.
Progress over perfection is one thing I claimed to preach not only to the members but to myself as well.
And experience is indeed a great teacher. To witness each one in the beginning of your individual journeys, be it as a BJC and a project chairman or as a committee director or even as a member of the Board of Directors, is a privilege. It warms and fills my heart to see us grow, knowing how far we've reached as compared to where we started, as individuals and as a chapter.
I say no role is too little and no win is too small because every member matters and every presence makes a difference. When I thought it would be lonely and difficult, I was proven wrong. I am truly humbled by your commitment, dedication, and sacrifices. I always say that a time for Culiat is a time away from your families, friends, companies, and even yourself. Yet, you continue to show up especially when needed the most. Thank you for that kind of love that is so giving and warm. I hope we shone the light on you this year. Thank you for embracing your role and making 2023 your year too.
These are some of our wins. These are things we ought to cherish.
This Bulung Culiat is for you. May it remind us of the wonderful journeys we had this 2023. As we go back and browse through the pages in the coming years, I can hear you say 'what a year!'. Yes, I agree, and it was one of the best years of my life. Thank you for being part of it and for making it more purposeful and worth every single day.
This year, collaboration has truly flourished, and a genuine sense of purpose has engulfed every corner of your local organization. You have truly embodied what I always say, that “the strength of the LO is the members, and the strength of the members is the LO”.
As we celebrate the milestones of this leadership year, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Pres. Kate for the dedication and passion she has brought to the table. Her commitment to compassionate leadership, brimming with integrity and inclusivity has set the tone for a culture that values not only what you achieve but how you achieve it. Leadership is not just about reaching the destination; it’s about inspiring others to join you on the journey. Pres. Kate has been nothing short of
a beacon of inspiration, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose that has pushed JCI Angeles City Culiat onward and upward.
May each and everyone of you be inspired to look towards the future, and be empowered by the achievements of this year. Undoubtedly, the impact of this year will resonate for years to come – shaping your collective journey and will further emphasize that JCI Angeles City Culiat’s impact knows
no bounds.
Thank you for making IT'S ABOUT US ALL possible, and indulging me with a FINISH STRONG mentality. Now we have reached the end, with a grateful heart I say, WE DID IT!
Congratulations to our 2023 President, Board of Officers and Directors, Senators, members and to all
who have contributed to this extraordinary journey of creating positive change, growth and success!
Congratulations, Culiat. 2023 is one for the books. It is an honor to have led alongside with you all, my brothers and sisters, in Culiat. Maraming maraming maraming salamat.

from the Humans of Culiat
From Jan, God’s perfect time
People may wonder why you took so long to finally aspire to be Culiat’s president. Well, to answer that, it was God’s perfect time. You started your JCI journey last 2012, and it was 2021 when you started to tell me that you had aspirations of becoming president. You were hesitant. First, you are a mother of two – Ada, our daughter whom you are also homeschooling, and our son Cal, who at that time was only 2 years old. Second, we were deciding if I should start to pursue my residency. As we realized this would entail a huge sacrifice for our family and something that you did not want our family to endure. But you knew what you wanted for Culiat, and were looking for that sign to move forward. Through the months, you prayed for this and your vision for Culiat began to be more clearer. God answered your prayers with a mission and a resounding YES.
Our Family
I’ve mentioned, your th As presidency would be a big sacrifice for our growing family, but God is so good that he gave i us the best support system he u d f Cuy u f has – our families. Pres Kate's leadership is anchored not just in her role, but in her core values: a genuine commitment to service, an innate drive to uplift her team, and a deep-seated belief in the untapped potential of each Culiat member. Her leadership isn't about grand gestures; but in the day-today dedication that's led to over 85 projects and a significant boost in membership. More than that, it's in the way she's fostered a culture where empathy and teamwork are not just encouraged, but lived.
Your inspiration
Prior to your presidency, you told me your biggest concern was Ada, her homeschooling, the time you’d spend away from her and how it would affect her. But luckily, our daughter thinks a lot like an adult when it comes to these situations. Ada said, “I am proud of my mom’s presidency. I may be sad because she is away a lot but I understand, because her purpose is to serve God and this is her way of praising him.”. She even hopes that one day, she could also serve as a president of Culiat as she was inspired deeply by her mother’s dedication to Culiat, the members and God.
It’s About us all
You told me once that you felt God wanted you to approach the task he has given you differently. You would wake me up late at night and tell me the vision that you wanted for Culiat. And ultimately, you wanted Culiat to be about the members. You wanted to give value for all the efforts members put into the organization. Like the loving mother you are to our kids, you took it upon yourself to take a backseat and aspire for members to emerge, learn, and grow. One night, you told me, ”I want my presidency to be about the organization, not just me, but about us all – it’s about us all”. The tagline of your 2023 presidency was born!
You built on this tagline and stood by it throughout the year, giving praise to the members, thanking them personally, even going out and seeing each member personally just to get to know them better. You would stay up at night thinking, “pa’no ko kaya matutulungan si….”, then wake me up and ask for advice.
As awards season came, I remembered what you told me before the start of your presidency. You told me that you were never after awards and that you want to put the growth of each individual member first. As you guys approached bid season, you focused on having each member write their own bids for their own projects. Day in and day out, together with the bid writing team, you would go to FORO to write. You knew that through this, the members would have a sense of ownership with regards to their own projects and that an award would just be a plus.
And now that the term is coming to a close, all you think of is how you could thank the members and tell them how proud you are. And trust me, I know and feel. Your dream is for Culiat to always stay strong through the strength and unity of the members. For each one to grow and develop leadership skills that each individual can pass to the next generation of Culiat members.
It has been a hard year for us, less time to talk, family outings were rare, date nights even rarer and more times of just “hi, but I have to go na.” But it was a year that I will remember for sure. I can say that our marriage is stronger because of it. I have been lucky enough to witness my wife’s struggles and triumphs. I have seen how much you have grown as a leader, as a friend, as a mother and wife. And this is because of all the life lessons you have learned from the Culiat members. People may think that you have taught them so much during your term, but in a reciprocal manner, you have learned so much from them.
I am so proud of you hon, this year was a great year for Culiat and the members! Congratulations! Cheers!

From Princess,
From the 2023 BODs From Loren, In the realm of leadership, size truly doesn't matter when you've got a dynamo like Pres Kate at the helm. Standing at almost 5 feet (LOL labyu), you’ve proven to be a blessing to JCI Angeles City Culiat, defying any doubts you may have had about yourself. And let me tell you, I've never doubted you for a second.
Your bravery stems from the knowledge that you’re backed up by the Big Guy up there. Your leadership style is a class of its own, especially evident in the number of projects we've undertaken this year. It's clear that you lead with the chapter's best interests at heart, embodying your great vision "it's about us all," always putting the members' desires at the forefront.
What truly amazes me is your ability to multitask effortlessly. Balancing your role as a loving mom and wife while simultaneously being the heart of our JCI family - it's a feat not many can pull off, yet you do it with grace.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, Pres Kate, for never ceasing to believe in me. You’re not just a president; you’re an understanding leader who consistently checks in to make sure I'm okay. During moments when I doubted myself, you stood firm, offering unwavering support.
Honestly, I don't know how you manage to do it all. You’re not just a president; you’re my idol. Small in stature, but a colossal force to reckon with in leadership and love. Cheers to you, our fantastic leader!
From Frankie, Pres Kate, it’s the way you asked that started it...
You always start with a question – an underrated trait that you have, but so powerful that it sparks meaningful conversations, created genuine relationships, and produced more than 85 projects, raised millions of funds, involved 85% of members, and added 25% membership growth.
In fact, the first JCI conversation we had last April 4, 2017 started with “Bakit?”, and your last chat before doing this testimonial, 6 years after is “Paano?”.
It’s not just me, but I think members that enjoyed either sober or drunk, members that laughed so hard or cried in tears, members that were challenges and brought the best out of them, members that were pushed to their limits and discovered their potentials, members that felt a sense of a family, companion and new-found friends, all in this term, were because of the way the president –you– asked and started it.
Congratulations Pres Kate for a very successful term!

From Dane,
From Romiel, Pres. Kate, your leadership is truly commendable. You guide with wisdom, listen with empathy, and foster a supportive environment, making you not only an exemplary leader but also a cherished sister to me. I am proud and it's a privilege to be part of your Culiat presidential journey as one of your Vice Presidents this year.
Thank you Pres Kate, for the trust and chance you have given me, to be part of your Board. This has been a moment that I got to know myself more as a leader, thank you for empowering us, thank you for believing that I can still show the very best of me as a leader, akala ko magtatapos na ang leadership journey ko sa school, but nag-grow and na-boost pa ngayong nasa JCI ako and it’s because of you Pres. Thank you for motivating me, Ate Pres. Hanggang sa muli!
The privilege of working with you, Pres Kate, is one of the most rewarding experiences this year. You are not perfect and many people might have misunderstood you, but all I can say is, to us members of Culiat, the BJCs, and your family, you are an amazing woman, mother, and leader. We would always admire how you worked closely with the people around you and the level of compassion you have for every one of us. No wonder you empowered and tapped a lot of people this year. Despite all the challenges we faced, you still managed to make our chapter remember its values and continue the legacy our past presidents have built to come together and be a family. So yes, congratulations Pres Kate, and congratulations, Culiat!

From Bucks, My first impression with you, Pres, is mataray at nakakatakot magalit. Pag may ni reason sa’yo, you will always ask, "BAKIT? Hindi ba pwedeng ganito, ganyan". Na feel ko
na there is no excuse na hindi mag-explain sa’yo.
Hanggang sa dumating yung time na kailangan natin mag usap for future plans and nakita ko sa’yo na tinanong mo din sa sarili yung "bakit?" At dun ko na realize na itong taong to segurista o dapat laging calculated ang risk. Natakot ako dahil baka hindi tayo mag click as your EVP, dahil lagi lang akong go with the flow. But as time went by as I observed you, I realized how genuine your heart for Culiat is.
You sometimes tell me yung mga kwentuhan nyo ni Doc Jan about this year and na-feel ko yung sacrifices mo for THE LOVE FOR CULIAT, as everyone says... We eventually became friends na minsan madaling araw magka-chat tayo at nagkukwentuhan kahit hindi na para sa Culiat, nakukuha na kitang biruin dahil pina-feel mo sa’kin na kaibigan mo ako, at maraming beses mong sinabi na you will forever be there as our friend at na feel kong totoo ‘yun. I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I AM FRIENDS WITH KATE REYES - ROMERO AND I AM HER EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT!

Dane is the kind of brave soul who never hesitates to speak her mind. If bravery had a spokesperson, she'd be the poster child, or should I say, poster lioness. In the heart of Culiat, there roams a lioness named Danielle Morales, or as we affectionately call her, Dane. She's not your average roar in the jungle; she's more like a symphony of sound with a side of courage. Prepare yourself for the resounding voice that has been misunderstood as madness but is just Dane's way of making sure the world hears her! Now, let's talk about beauty and skincare. Got a pimple emergency or a mascara mishap? Look no further than Dane, your friendly neighborhood beauty guru. She's got the skills, the tricks, and probably a magic wand hidden somewhere to make all your makeup and skincare problems disappear. Move over, makeup artists; Culiat's lioness is in town!
But beware, if you happen to play some BTS tunes in her vicinity, be ready for a concert experience like no other. Dane isn't just a listener; she's a vocal enthusiast. The moment those beats drop, she transforms into the neighborhood songbird, hitting notes that might make even BTS themselves sit up and take notice. Karaoke night with Dane? Count me in!
In the incredible journey of her baby Jaycee experience, Dane faced the challenge head-on while juggling her academic responsibilities. Despite the hustle, she powered through because, well, she was having a blast. In 2022, she rocked the role of auditor, and this year, she's
donned the treasurer's hat, proving that her commitment to the cause knows no bounds.
As a board director, Dane isn't just about ticking off tasks on her to-do list; she goes above and beyond. Need a helping hand? As long as time is on her side, Dane swoops in to the rescue.
And that's not all. Dane's not just
about getting the job done; she's also at the forefront of financial transparency for the chapter. As a treasurer, she doesn't just crunch numbers; she leads the charge in submitting thorough and complete reports to Culiat.
Mark my words, folks: Dane Morales, our lioness of Culiat, has all the makings of a future president. She doesn't just tackle challenges; she devours them for breakfast, plus a cup of coffee of course! With her leadership skills and passion for making things happen, there's no doubt she'll be steering the ship towards success in no time.
So, whether you need a beauty wizard, a concert companion, or a leader to rally behind, look no further than Danielle Morales, Culiat's very own lioness. Roar on, Dane, roar on!

Kevin shines as a leader in the Jaycees, believing in the simple idea that you can't share what you don't have. His journey, filled with the lively "Dabarkads" project, is a mix of wisdom and empowerment. Kevin didn't lead his international team from a pedestal but guided them, letting each person bring their own style to the table.
In his role, Kevin didn't just talk about gender equality; he put it into action with practical projects. "Dabarkads" wasn't just a break from Jaycees' busy schedule; it was a chance for members to hang out and do what they love.
Kevin's leadership journey started by chance which started at the JCI Angeles City Culiat OTI seminar he first attended. His Baby Jaycee days weren't just about doing tasks; they transformed him into a better leader, always aiming to improve.
His leadership journey traces back to the BJC program, where he took on different roles and organized events. True friendships were the backbone of Kevin's journey, helping his batchmates navigate challenges together.

“I AM MY OWN PROJECT”, Gela said. She came to JCI Angeles City Culiat in search of something new; with nothing but a broken heart and a sheer will to rebuild herself and with the intention of developing herself into a better version, also hoping to find her true meaning and purpose in life.
She has put in all her heart in her BJC journey. She has shown great enthusiasm in participating in the chapter’s activities, as well as adapting the JCI values as one of her compasses in becoming the person that she wants to be.
She took every opportunity as a possible lesson that could help her in the future; and with God as her anchor, she powered through all what life threw at her, but it didn’t come without a cost.
that highlighted connections in the community beyond the chapter. This made meetings a place for unity and teamwork.
The "Dabarkads" program, part of the "Culiat for Culiat" membership initiative, was a fun way for members to take a breather. Kevin's job as VP International wasn't just about members getting together but meeting with the purpose of highlighting the importance of members’ self worth to strengthen team dynamics. Truly, the chapter is about each member.
Kevin's happiness comes from real friendships and leading with impact. He's not just saying "Be Better"; he's showing it by guiding his team to conduct more projects better, always taking away learnings from each one.
In a nutshell, Kevin's leadership story in the Jaycees is about growing together, lifting each other up, and making a positive mark in the LO community.
Midway her BJC journey, Gela felt exhausted and even tried to deny it. She questioned herself, “How is it possible to get tired when everything I’ve been doing was for me to grow?” These constant thoughts made her anxious and made her doubt her progress.
In an effort to salvage what is left of her sanity, she has decided to run away; and with only a handful who knew where she was, she took a break to recuperate and reassess herself. During that time of solitude, she learned that more than powering through what life threw at her, she needed to rest and trust God more with His plans.
Upon returning, she realized how
much she has grown from the time she has entered JCI. Also, she learned that she was valuable to those around her, including her brothers and sisters in JCI Angeles City, as her journey was a source of inspiration to them.
Still a work in progress, Gela acknowledges her journey to be a better person is still ongoing. However, with the grace of God and with the help of JCI, she is a different person compared to before she joined: kinder, smarter, happier — better.

Behind the bib, utters the question “is this commitment worth fighting for?”.
A common realization to every Culiat baby Jaycee on his/her journey towards becoming a member of the chapter. The JCI Angeles City Culiat BJC Leadership Program is a minimum of 6 months to a year of volunteer commitment to a leadership training for an aspiring member before they can officially join the chapter, which focuses in 3 parts: Recruitment, Development and Mentorship.
In the recruitment phase, it starts with the “Opportunity to Impact ' (OTI) . An event wherein the member invites and brings their chosen friends to get to know the JCI Organization all about. Discussed here are the JCI visions, the 4 Pillars of Opportunities that it offers, and certainly the BJC training program itself. Afterwards, the aspirants are required to attend the 3 P'S - Parliamentary, Project, Protocol. Aside from the 3p’s subjects, this training seminar concludes the almost final candidates for the aspiring baby Jaycees, as the chapter can no longer entertain additional participants after the event. Besides, this is the event wherein the symbolic “bib” is given to the aspirant. The baby Jaycee “Bib” is the most notable culture of Culiat. They are also given a monthly leadership training - Culiat Talks that is open to all members. The BJC’S will be deliberated based on their performance during the course, as for the board to discern if they are qualified as a member or not.

While the exact date of the firstever issue remains elusive, historical artifacts attest to the chapter's profound appreciation for publications.
Recently, our Editorial board delved into the archives and discovered a hidden gem—an issue from our 30th anniversary in 1982. Its pages were simple, black and white, lacking fancy photos. But within those unassuming lines, we found stories that transcended time. The cover, reminiscent of a children's book, showcased caricatures of the past 29 presidents. Despite its simplicity, this newsletter persevered and is now cherished for its valuable content and historical significance.

When Pres. Kate said 2023 is “About Us All”, she really meant it. The focus of 2023 projects and programs has been about its members – promoting growth and learning, personal development and wellness, and encouraging active participation in the chapter’s endeavors.
One of Culiat’s strongest tool this year in tapping members was the regular #DBRKDS activities handled by the International Committee headed by VP Kevin Wilkerson. These activities resulted in the active participation of 80% of Culiat’s membership.

One of the most growth-centric and well-attended flagship project launched this 2023 is Culiat Talks, a program under the #CuliatForCuliat Program. The Individual Committee headed by VP Frankie Mar Adviento has launched 11 Culiat Talks episodes with topics varying from leadership, stock market, personal development and wellness, to creative photography.

Remarkably, the event raised a recordbreaking 100,000 Pesos for the Make-a-Wish Foundation Philippines, aiding children with critical illnesses.
The event was the first ever charity half-marathon and fun-run in JCI Angeles City Culiat's history. A grand total of seven hundred plus participants joined one of the four simultaneous routes - a 2.5-kilometer route, a 5-kilometer route, a 10kilometer route, and a 21-kilometer half-marathon route. JCI Angeles City Culiat President Kate Romero greeted the eager morning crowd of runners with an inspiring speech that emphasized the importance of working together to make great things happen. She also noted the efforts of project chairman and JCI Culiat member Yves Hizon who in turn led the crowd in prayer, asking for a safe and injury free run.

Tigtigan,
Terakan Keng Dalan:
A Resounding Comeback Charlene Mae Torres
Angeles City, Pampanga - After a pandemic-induced hiatus, the vibrant streets of Balibago came alive once again as Tigtigan, Terakan Keng Dalan (TTKD) made a triumphant return, proving that the resilient spirit of Kapampangans could not be dampened by challenging times. This annual two-day street party, hailed as the province's largest , saw over half a million attendees in 2019, marking it as a cornerstone event in the local culture.
TTKD's roots trace back to 1992, emerging in the aftermath of the devastating 1991 Pinatubo eruption. The primary objective has always been to uplift the spirits of the community through an extravagant celebration, featuring an amalgamation of music, dance, and delectable local cuisines. Its significance as a symbol of resilience and community strength has only grown over the years.
The recent iteration of TTKD, held on the iconic 1kilometer stretch of Mon Tang Avenue in Balibago, showcased the city's determination to revive its rich cultural heritage. The event not only brought together Kapampangans but also welcomed guests, celebrities, influencers, DJs, and local food businesses, creating an electric atmosphere of unity and joy.
What makes this year's TTKD even more special is its collaboration with the Angeles City LGU and various corporate and individual partners. This unprecedented alliance underscores the community's collective commitment to not only revive the cherished street party but also channel its energy towards a noble cause. The partnership includes JCI Angeles City Culiat , adding another layer of purpose to the festivities.
As reported by SunStar Pampanga, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., in collaboration with the organizing committee, played a pivotal role in bringing TTKD back to life, infusing the event with a sense of responsibility. The alliance with the local government and a myriad of partners has transformed TTKD into a fundraising powerhouse, contributing to essential community projects and initiatives.
The return of Tigtigan, Terakan Keng Dalan, symbolizes more than just a revival of festivities; it signifies the resilience, unity, and commitment of the community to rebuild and support one another, especially in challenging times. As the echoes of music and laughter reverberate through the streets of Balibago, TTKD stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Angeles City.

#CuliatCares:
A mission for
clear vision Batch Infinity
The #CuliatCares: A Mission for Clear Vision project is a medical mission aiming for better eyesight for Angeles City based drivers. According to studies, one out of five drivers suffer from poor eyesight.
26
People aged 40 and above most often also suffer from presbyopia, or poor eyesight at near vision. This could easily be resolved with bifocal or doble vista glasses, but these usually cost around P2,500-P5,000 a pair, making it not affordable for the typical jeepney/tricycle driver. Thus, this project was envisioned to improve the quality of life, encourage better productivity and to promote safer roads for Angeles City based drivers and the community. The project also hopes to increase awareness of the importance of better eye health.
The project was able to raise P355,996.00 in cash and in sponsorships. With the help of BJC Batch Infinity, the project was able to survey and identify 128 drivers with poor vision. The project then conducted eye check ups, eyeglasses measurement, and health education for these drivers from October 9 October 23, 2023 with a board certified optometrist at ATS Optical. Distribution of the individually graded eyeglasses and food packages were then done on October 29, 2023 at Marquee Mall, Angeles City.
Additionally, almost 300 students engaged in free digital skills training from City College of Angeles City during the 1st day of the event, with an additional 200 students from six public senior high schools benefiting from the program's educational assistance and scholarships for tertiary education during the 2nd day. The Train to Hire program has made a significant impact by providing opportunities for digital skill development, employment opportunities and educational support within the community, aligning with the efforts to empower the community.

Batch Infinity Every December 1 of the year, the world commemorates “World AIDS Day." People around the world unite to show support for the People Living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (PLHIV) and to remember those who lost their lives to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The JCI Angeles City Culiat Chapter, one of the leading JCI chapters in North and Central Luzon, is one with the international community in commemorating "World AIDS Day” by conducting a campaign entitled “Power to Protect: an HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign” on Friday, December 1, 2023 to 300 college students of College of Arts and Sciences – Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) in Magalang, Pampanga.
HIV is still an emerging public health concern in the Philippines. One of the factors contributing to the higher rate of HIV cases in the country is a lack of knowledge on the said disease. Based on the research study of James et al., the results revealed that most college students from three tertiary education institutions in Pampanga (PSAU, MCC, and CCA) have low (42.5%) to medium (36.1%) level knowledge about HIV/AIDS and misconceptions about HIV transmission (James et al., 2022).

In this project, we will be conducting seminars on HIV/AIDS and the most common STIs in the Philippines, an overview of the SOGIE, and Republic Act No. 11166, also known as the “Philippine HIV & AIDS Policy Act of 2018”.
