PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear all Jaycees,

Last 2 years were tough to everyone with many projects and events cancelled around the world due to the COVID-19, but through the hard work of JCI members, we have come closer ever than before to tackle this challenge as Malaysia will enter the “Transition to Endemic” soon.

In year 2022, JCI Kota Kinabalu celebrating 60th Anniversary. JCI Kota Kinabalu has a rich and colourful history and created as one of the outstanding platforms for an individual to be made leader through different types of training, individual development and community based activities, management opportunities and business networking.

Thus, we have set our presidential theme is INSIPRE.

INSPIRE comprises of inspiring our youth in developing leadership skills, create a positive change to ourselves and show our community that we are capable to provide different opportunities and services to others. At the same time, inspiring young Malaysian to greater heights with selfless dedication for the development and succeed in their personal life.

Despite of this pandemic, our lifestyle has changed but I strongly believe with the JCI spirit and faith a lot of works can be done by JCI members to turn challenges into opportunities. As the Local President of 2022, I am excited to work together with Jaycees towards a better community.

Happy Chinese New Year!

CNY fresh noodle donation drive sponsored by Yong & Sons Enterprise Sdn Bhd. We received around 30kg tuaran mee and egg noodle, distributed to Persatuan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan Oku Leshan Kota Kinabalu, Bethany Home, CT HomeCare Center and Persatuan Orang Kurang Upaya Penglihatan Sabah(SAVI).

PUBLIC SPEAKING TRAINING

Activity Date : Public Speaking Training 2022 : 23rd February 2022

What a great success training!

It is a great honour to have JCI SENATOR SKYLER TAN as our trainer of the night, sharing tricks and tips with participants on how to overcome stage fright and polish up their public speaking skills.

We are also grateful to have over 40 participants from JCI Malaysia, JCI Singapore and JCI Philippines, as well as participants from the public.

Last but not least, our Organizing Chairlady, Michelle Ng, took on her first project in JCI KOTA KINABALU and made it a success.

JCI DEBATE SHARING

Wonderful Learning Session!

It is an honour to have 2022 JCIM Area Sabah Business and Economic Affairs Director Bernice Chin Langshaw as our speaker of the night, she is not only our Area Sabah Director but also she was the finalist of English Debate from 2021 JCI Asia and the Pacific Conference to share her debate experience and knowledge to inspire our member and public to have a better understanding on Debate activity and on how to polish their debate skill.

A huge appreciation to all the participants from JCI Malaysia and JCI City Singapore. Thank you Organizing Chairperson Kan Jun Jian and his organising committee made this happen.

WORLD SLEEP DAY

Activity Date : JCI World Sleep Day : 23rd March 2022

For this first time JCI KK together with a total of 16 JCI Chapters in Malaysia with Amlife International jointly organized World Sleep Day Awareness Talk intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is mainly aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.

Hi Jaycees! I'm Michelle Ng Yen San.

It is an honour and privilege to be featured in the 2022 JCIKK E-newsletter. Junior Chamber International (JCI) is the first Youth NGOs that I ever joined, and I still loved and enjoyed every minute of it. Being young and ambitious, JCI has enabled me to turn my idea into reality by organising projects to create a positive change in the society that not only pushed my limits but improve myself and discover new skills and competencies whilst also boost my confidence. Through participating and volunteering in JCI events and trainings, it equipped me the tools to fill my toolbox that I'm able to excel and capitalise on opportunities presented to me in both my personal and professional lives. With JCI, I am possible!

Coming in as a stranger, but I felt a a strong sense of belonging and a supportive environment. Jaycee selfless in sharing their knowledge and passionate to create a difference in the community. No doubt, a place for me to learn and grow to become a wellrounded leader.

All in all, JCI has something for everyone! Looking forward to meet more young people join us in embarking JCI journey. ✈
