ARising Tiger. That is what I would like to call myself. Not only because I was born in the year of the tiger with a fire element, but because I consider myself strong and burning with passion. Eager to make a difference. Rising because I handled a chapter that is just beginning to crawl, stand, and walk. Trying to rise. Trying to fulfill a duty which I know nothing about. Trying to be a mother of a rising chapter. Trying to roar and be heard.
JCI Malabon is known to be a revival chapter. We got revived with nothing and zero resources, which greatly challenged me. I won’t say it was easy, because really, it’s not. But I can say it is exciting and challenging at the same time. I was the president of the class way back in elementary and high school, and a leader to various organizations. I manage a group of financial advisors, own a small business, and manage staff. Therefore, I used my leadership experience in this journey and it worked.
Because I was able to raise 30 individuals who have the same passion as me; to help, serve and eager to be molded and motivated. It kept me going in this very challenging year. Imagine being a president of a revival chapter in a pandemic term? What could possibly be more challenging than that? But because I got a strong support system in my husband, family, and friends, as well as the regional to national board; and of course, my very supportive and active members, I was able to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as a Charter President with flying colors. Yes, I ended my term with a proud achievement, the Platinum Seal of Efficiency during my first active year and retaining a group of 30 young active citizens.
And with that, I am very thankful for all them and for my batchmates who were also part of my support system. I am also very thankful to all our sponsors, donors, friends, and everyone who keeps on supporting our cause. This would not be possible if it wasn’t for them. Thank you, God for letting me experience this wonderful journey and for guiding me. I could really say that with the task you gave me, I got molded to be a better person and motivated to do better. Thank you JCI Philippines.
