JCIB FRONTS NATIONAL ‘DISCOVER’ TRAINING

With the launching of JCI Discover, one of the three new courses of Junior Chamber International, JCI Lingayen Bagoong conducted the DISCOVER PH on August 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2020 via Zoom.

Discover PH is a collaborative project of JCI Philippines chapters where JCI Discover Trainings were conducted to engage participants to understand why JCI exists, as they focus on the core values and framework that drive the JCI Mission.

The four-day event were dedicated to cater more JCI members to take the newest training course from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The fourth day of the training were for the Jaycees who weren’t able to attend the first three runs of Discover PH.

JCI Lingayen Bagoong invited JCI Mem. Jahan Elgar Castro, 2020 Regional Vice President of JCI Philippines-Metro Area, to facilitate the training. Likewise, the training hosted by the Local Organization was recognized by the JCIP’s 2020 National Training Director, JCI Mem. Alfred Vargas.

“Today, we also declare and uphold our belief that education is for everyone and that learning is a life-long endeavor, and that we as JCI will never seize our quest for knowledge and be better every day and use everything that we got to share it with others and effect positive change.”, said Vargas.

Discover PH trainings were co-hosted by 31 JCI Philippines chapters and were attended by Area Training Directors from Areas One to Five to express their appreciation and support in the conduct of this event.

“We would like to thank all chapters who co-hosted this national training with us. Without you, this event will not be possible,” JCI Mem. Mialin Rose Ferrer, JCI Lingayen Bagoong 2020 President expressed.

JCILB FRONTS 5-DAY UNSDG WEEK CELEB

On its local celebration of the Global Goals Week, JCI Lingayen Bagoong prepared various activities divided into five days: Partnership, People, Prosperity, Planet and Peace. Each of the activity is in line with the principles of every United Nations Sustainable Goals to fortify its promotion and intensify the community support to it.

The local Global Goals Week celebration of JCI Lingayen Bagoong with the theme “JCILB 2020 for Agenda 2030” was conducted last September 22-26, 2020 in different communities in Lingayen.

DAY 1: PARTNERSHIP AND AWARENESS

JCI Lingayen Bagoong’s Global Goals Week Celebration was kick-started through activities that raised awareness and fortified pact with the Local Government Unit of Lingayen for UNSDG promotion and support on September 22, 2020.

Among the first day activities was a Support Signature Campaign fortifying the relationship of JCI Lingayen Bagoong and Lingayen LGU in promoting and creating sustainable developments for the Lingayenenses. Likewise, an Online UNSDG Summit thru Facebook Live and Zoom was conducted to raise awareness on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. National Director for UNSDG, JCI Mem. Marianne Sigue, and Area 2 Chair for UNSDG, JCI Mem. Kevin Martin Dela Cruz, shared their UNSDG knowledge to the youth as guest speakers.

DAY 2: PEOPLE

JCI Lingayen Bagoong’s second day of the Global Goals Week Celebration centered on one of the pillars of UNSDG, the PEOPLE. Activities such as the Feeding Activity was conducted by the Local Organization for the residents of barangay Wawa in Lingayen.

Moreover, Calcium Supplements were also distributed by JCI Lingayen Bagoong and Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan City to the Senior Citizen’s Association of the said barangay. A total of 40 boxes with 100 tablets per box were turned over to the association president. These supplements will benefit 130 senior citizens from the Barangay Wawa for a month.

DAY 3: PROSPERITY

The third day of the week-long Global Goals Week Celebration of the Local Organization centered on the Prosperity Pillar of the UNSDG in which activities such as the COVEG-20 (COMMUNITY VEGETATION) was also launched in Barangay Wawa.

A webinar on employment and equality was also conducted in which Mr. EJ Dangla of Coffee Monkey PH and JCI Lingayen Bagoong Immediate Past President, JCI Mem. Leizel del Castillo shared their knowledge on the topics, “How to earn during Pandemic” and “Reducing work-related violence and inequalities” respectively.

DAY 4: PLANET DAY 5: PEACE

And to end the week-long UNSDG Week Celebration of JCI Lingayen Bagoong, a webinar on peace was fronted by JCI Lingayen Bagoong to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16.

Hon. Samira Gutoc, one of the country’s prominent Peace and Human Rights Advocate, was invited by the local organization to discuss pointers on how to transcend and promote peace in communities with the topic “PEACE OF ADVICE: Strengthening Capacities of Youth-led Peace Initiatives”.

To center on the Planet Pillar, JCI Lingayen Bagoong with Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan City 2000 and Rotaract Club of Uptown Dagupan City 2000 planted 200 of the 500 Mangrove Propagules in Barangay Capandanan, Lingayen. Said barangay was adopted by the Local Organization and is planned to transform its coastline to a Mangrove Forest. Further, the 500 mangrove propagules were given to JCI Lingayen Bagoong by the Pangasinan Provincial Agriculturist Office, and Bolinao Provincial Mangrove Information Center and Nursery Facility.

On the other hand, free mineral water were given to the residents of the Barangay Wawa in Lingayen to provide a better access to clean water in Barangay Wawa.
