Kansas City Corporate Challenge
From the President
As President of the Board of Directors, I would like to officially welcome you to the 43rd season of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. It’s amazing to see the continued support that you and your companies provide that have allowed us to become the largest and oldest corporate games in the country since our initial season in 1980. I’m excited that you are a part of this season and cannot wait to see how each of you Challenge Yourself & Win Together! I have been involved with KCCC for the past eight years and am entering my seventh year on the Board of Directors. Serving as a Company Coordinator for 5 years, I know the commitment each employee has in contributing to your organization’s success throughout the Games and the pride that each participant has in representing their respective companies. Watching coworkers and companies come together to promote wellness and camaraderie in friendly competition across the KC Metro is truly an amazing experience. Not to mention, where else can you compete with 30,000 fellow Kansas Citians! I would like to thank our presenting sponsor, PNC Bank, and all of the companies who have signed on as a sponsor in 2022. You can find the list of sponsors on the inside front cover of this Games magazine and will see them at various events throughout the season. Now more than ever, sponsors at every level allow us to continue to present the Games successfully each year and I’m truly thankful for their support. Thank you to the KCCC Ambassadors. Ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the Board and provide valuable feedback throughout the season. They work with the Board on events from early morning set-up to late night teardowns and any other task that is needed. Ambassadors also partner with new Company Coordinators to answer any questions during their first year with KCCC. Another crucial piece to the success of the Games are the volunteers. Volunteers provide support from check-in to keeping score and everything in between. Without your company’s volunteers, KCCC would be near impossible to put on and certainly would not be ran as smoothly. I’m happy to announce that we will continue our partnership with Cornerstones of Care as our beneficiary for 2022. It has been great working with this amazing organization and we are beyond excited to partner with them this year. The KCCC Board of Directors are among the most passionate KCCC fans I know. These individuals live and breathe KCCC and work throughout the year to plan and administer the Games to ensure each participant has the best experience possible. They have never wavered in their dedication to ensuring we present the safest version of the Games. It’s been inspiring working alongside each of them as we’ve worked to ensure the best version of KCCC is presented and I thank them for the countless hours they contribute to ensure that KCCC continues to evolve and build on our strong 40 + year foundation. On behalf of the KCCC Executive Director, administrative staff, Johnson County Park and Recreation District, and the 2022 Board of Directors and Ambassadors, thank you for your involvement and dedication to KCCC and we look forward to seeing each of you Challenge Yourself & Win Together in 2022!

Dear Corporate Challenge Friends, Cornerstones of Care is honored and excited to be part of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge! We are thrilled that we are the beneficiary again of this great event that promotes health, wellness and camaraderie. Cornerstones of Care’s mission is to partner for safe, healthy communities. The money raised during the Kansas City Corporate Challenge will benefit our Build Trybe Program. This program is a mentorship community that builds health, independence and empowers youth with employable skills. It is a bridge connecting youth, who lack a stable support system, to opportunity. Our team of trade experts and community partners introduce and connect youth to three skill-based career paths and education in the culinary arts, construction trades, and horticulture. We encourage you to visit our website www.cornerstonesofcare.org or check out Build Trybe on Instagram @buildtrybe. We would love to show off the great work that our youth perform every day. Please email me to schedule a tour of one of our campuses. Thanks for allowing us to be part of your community! Sincerely,
Sally Cook Director of Development sally.cook@cornerstonesofcare.org

The KCCC Ambassadors serve as the voice of the participant, and the eyes and ears of the Board of Directors. Representing participating companies from throughout the Kansas City area, the KCCC Ambassadors may participate in the Games. An Ambassador is someone who encourages participants of all skill levels from all companies, supports the event officials, enforces event rules when necessary, provides feedback to the Board regarding companies that would be eligible for the Spirit and Sportsmanship Awards based on witnessed activities, and serves as a volunteer providing event assistance and administration. As experienced “KCCC Veterans”, they serve as mentors to new company coordinators. All suggestions and information provided to the KCCC Board of Directors by the Ambassadors will be considered, and it is certain that their involvement will greatly enhance the KCCC experience for all participants. We are very grateful to the following Ambassadors for their service and to their employers for allowing them to be a part of our organization. If your company has someone interested in serving as a KCCC Ambassador, please contact the KCCC office at kccorporatechallenge@gmail.com. www.kccorporatechallenge.com

2021 Fall Series The fall of 2021 brought an exciting new opportunity when the Kansas City Corporate Challenge Board of Directors welcomed 25 companies to the first-ever Fall Series. This unique event featured six different competitions offered over a fifteen-day period throughout the month of September. Different from the regular KCCC season offered throughout the spring months, participants did not have to be employed by the company but were rather considered to be a representative of the team. This allowed for employees to involve friends, spouses, and family members to compete alongside their company’s team. The Fall Series was open to all KC metro companies regardless of participation in the 2021 regular season and was a great way for associates, friends, and family to engage in some friendly and healthy competition as many companies began their return to the workplace. Placements of gold, silver, or bronze were awarded to the top three finishers within each division at every event with the exception of the 5K. Placements for the 5K were awarded to the top three finishes in each age group, by gender. Events offered: 5K, Cornhole, Adventure Race, Sand Volleyball, Pickleball, Kickball Participating Companies: NBKC Bank C2FO Dimensional Innovations Krucial Staffing Harcros Ad Astra JCPRD Corbion Burns & McDonnell Go Local Interactive Kansas City Southern Railways NeuAnalytics Procter & Gamble PNC Bank MRIGlobal DEG, a Merkle Company Henke Manufacturing Company ScriptPro HNTB Corporation Cornerstones of Care Spotlight AR (2 teams) SCOR BKD CPAs & Advisors KCCC Board of Directors & Ambassadors For more information about the 2022 Fall Series, please contact our office at kccorporatechallenge@gmail.com

Alex George Awa r d
f o r E x c e l l e n c e
The Alex George Award for Excellence was established in 1987 to honor one woman and one man from among those involved each year in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. The award is named for the late Alex George, founder of the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. It represents the values he demonstrated in his various sports activities, namely a competitive spirit, a selfless dedication to amateur athletics, lifetime physical fitness and good sportsmanship. Below are excerpts from the winning recipients’ nomination letters.

Jeff Hall
Molly Postlewait
Ferrellgas
Johnson County Park and Recreation District
As his team’s Company Coordinator since their inaugural year in 2007, Jeff understood that recruiting employees to participate in as many events as possible would only be successful if he demonstrated a willingness to do so as well. Luckily, he is a gifted athlete who has been blessed with several skills. Jeff has demonstrated his enthusiasm for the unique camaraderie that only sports can offer by organizing running, cycling, and rock wall climbing groups for employees. In 2021, he even organized a running event with employees from his opposing teams. The one thing that easily trumped winning as many KCCC events as possible was the need to always demonstrate sportsmanship on the playing field. That is something he not only demanded of himself, but it’s also something he helped ensure happened at every event his team was present.
Molly is full of energy, passion, and positivity and it radiates in all that she does. Nationally recognized for her work as a Senior Park Naturalist, her schedule didn’t allow her participation in Kansas City Corporate Challenge until 2019 but that’s all it took for her to be hooked! When Molly retired from Johnson County Park and Recreation District in the spring 2021, she was still determined to participate with her team in the Games, and did she ever participate! She brought home a gold medal in the 100M track event, a silver in the 400M track event, and a bronze at the bike race. Her biggest contribution, however, was her contagious enthusiasm to enjoy every moment with her team.
