Kana is a lifestyle brand made by an Indonesian graphic designer, Jean Ardhita Muis. The brand encapsulate Jean’s love for abstract art, composition and theory of colour. Kana is a personal name for Jean, reserved only for family and relatives. Kana symbolises childhood, memory and sentiment. Kana provides a glimpse of colourful story and memory through decor and stationery.

Kana’s branding and identity lies in the logotype only. It retains exclusivity and consistency throughout. Kana logo specification ties in very well with the colour palette and must remain so. The letter ‘n’ in the logo works as a spacing from such as margins, other logo, and text. Kana logo specification is very important to hold in order to retain it’s identity. Kana’s logotype offers a sight of stylised and soft edge of the ascender, connoting feminity and intimacy. The sans serif choice reflect on the modernity of Kana.

Selaras Biru identity is tailored specifically to them, in a way that it symbolizes their value and mission wrapped in one visual identity. Selaras Biru’s logomark is inspired by places that we conduct sporting activity, such as for example in this context as track-field. Where it connotes infinity, it also symbolizes activeness and with our greatest mission to tell the story of our place, Indonesia’s Nature; we thought our logo should also be symbolized by a place of sporting activity. Selaras Biru’s logo symbolizes infinity, endurance, flexibility and elegance. We want to show that our brand is so much more than sportswear, it tells an infinite story of Indonesia’s Nature the best possible way.

visual context
the visual grammar comes from connecting with what feels comfortable or cozy, even when brainstorming for the name we really wanted to capture that aura. the initial idea comes from where we both sitting on our couch after a long day so capturing the sense of ‘kemageran’ is quite essential. vocabulary: comfort, cozy, mager, pewe, etc.

we also thought that colour won’t be enough to build upon our visual grammar, i really wanted a distinctive palette of pattern or brand accent that identify the couch collective. and i was inspired by using two colours in one visual because it represents both of us, ayu and jean. and the pattern specifically comes from the nature of our position in our couch- i wanted it to look flowy, because i thought it’s funny how we can be quite flexible in a couch, we can whatever position we can put our body into when it comes to sitting down in a couch, but... it is somehow hard when we’re doing yoga or whatever.

THE RED THREAD SNPAK branding is heavily inspired by the narrative of the brand itself. SNPAK is tell a collective stories of women, the brand it self becomes the red thread of these narratives. Which in turn inspired the branding to signify flexibility, personality, modernity and luxury.

Equilateral Studio’s pattern and accent is inspired directly from the logo. The shapes embodies again modernity, the simplicity and abstraction of it connotes elegance and simplicity. The pattern & accent works to build the immerse environment of Equilateral Studio. It works as a way to extend the brand’s identity beyond logo, colour and type.

Lies in its name, Vision as a primary typeface symbolises and embodies Equilateral Studio. Vision as typography connotes modernity and it gives Equilateral Studio a unique charisma. To accompany Vision, Amurg as a typeface provides a good character to balance the palette of our typeface. Vision and Amurg gives Equilateral Studio a stand point on his own in terms of look and feel.
