Parks Special Events Father/Daughter Dance This event provides fathers, grandfathers, or other father figures to take their daughters or granddaughters out for a great time of fun and dancing. In addition to dancing, there will be door prizes and refreshments. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this event, we have added an additional afternoon time. Please indicate which dance that you will be attending. Tickets purchased after January 27 will have a $10 late fee. Absolutely no tickets will be available at the door this year. Name a child who wouldn’t love to climb aboard a fire truck, big rig, or bulldozer! Touch-a-Truck provides a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types – public service, emergency, utility, construction, transportation, delivery, and just plain cool – all in one place. Those young and young at heart will be allowed to touch, climb on, and ask questions about their favorite trucks in a safe, supervised environment. Accompanying personnel will teach the children about the equipment displayed and how these machines help us and our community. Along with all of the vehicles, there will also be a Kids Fun Zone with various activities and bounce houses. Concessions will also be onsite.

Flashlight Egg Hunt
Eggstravaganza
Have you ever hunted for eggs in the dark? Candy filled eggs are waiting to be found and look hard for the “Special” eggs that will earn you prizes. The Flashlight Egg Hunt is for kids’ ages 10-14 years. Meet at Pecan Grove Park West at 8:30pm on Friday, April 7. Please bring your own working flashlight. Pre-registration is required so sign-up at Sherman Parks and Recreation Office by Friday, March 31.
Hop on over and join Sherman Parks and Recreation for an Egg Hunt at Pecan Grove West Park. Enjoy a spring morning with candy-filled eggs, prizes and fun! The egg hunt will start promptly at 10am. Don’t be late, you will miss it.

Crafty Kids This is a really fun program where children ages 3-5 will make age-appropriate crafts each class. Let your creativity run wild while making fun and creative projects. Remember, if we are not getting messy then we’re not having fun. Min 4/Max 12

Dust off your imagination, grab your crayons and Dates Apr 20 - May 11 (register by Apr 14) markers and enter the annual Sherman Parks and Recreation Easter Coloring Contest. Entry must be the child’s own work, with a limit of one entry per person. Pick up a coloring contest sheet at the Glennie O. Ham Center or e-mail us at theresah@ ci.sherman.tx.us and we will send you an entry. Entries must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation office no later than Thursdays, March 13. Prizes will be awarded to one winner in each of the following age groups: ages 3-4; ages 5-6; ages 7-9; and ages 10-12. Winners will be notified by phone March 14.
Learn to Swim Registration Swim season is right around the corner. Registration for the Learn to Swim program at The Splash will begin for Sherman residents on April 3. Non-residents may register beginning April 17. The cost this year is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. Look for our schedule on our website in March.

Craig Willeford with the North Texas Tennis Academy will continue teaching tennis during the Spring. If your child is interested in learning how to play, Craig makes it really fun. He also has several years of experience coaching all skill levels. All classes are taught at the Fairview Park Tennis Courts. Literati Book Club The Literati Book Club meets the second Monday of each month at 7pm at Sherman Senior Center. We read a wide variety of books and enjoy enthusiastic commentary on books we’ve read. Ages: Teens and older. Just show up!
Shutterbug Club The Sherman Shutterbug Club is a club for all those interested in photography. Improve your skills, learn from others, share your ideas, concepts, and techniques. Monthly meetings will consist of critiques, hands-on workshops, and photo assignments. Meetings are held at 7pm at the Sherman Senior Center on the fourth Monday of every month. There are openings for Lead Lifeguards, Lifeguards, and Concessions Attendants. All applicants must be at least 15 years of age and Lifeguards must have current Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Our annual washer pitching tournament is scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 1:00 p.m. This event is always lots of fun with plenty of healthy competition. March is National Quilting Month. We will be having a Quilt Show on Tuesday, March 7. All things “quilted” are welcome to be displayed. We will have anonymous voting on categories such as most unusual quilted item, most beautiful quilt, etc. Please have your items to the center that morning by 9:00 a.m. so they can be put on display. Voting will begin at 10:30 and category winners announced at noon. If you will be entering please sign up in the office by Thursday, March 2, and let us know how many items you will be entering, no more than 2 items per person. Please note: items do not have to have been made by you, if you have a family quilt, etc. they are eligible as well.
ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION
The Irish know how to celebrate so we will be taking a cue from them and having a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 17, 1:30 p.m. We will have games and refreshments and lots of fun. Come join us, register by Wednesday, March 15, to attend.

Come join us on Tuesday, April 4, 5:30 -7:30 p.m., for an evening of great music from the Nighthawks Band. They play a variety of country music to dance or just tap your toes to. All seniors age 50+ are invited. Light refreshments are served. Please call the senior center office for more details and to register for the dance.
EASTER EVENT
Easter Sunday is April 16 so we will celebrate a little earlier on Thursday, April 13, 2:00 p.m. We will be playing games, including our annual Easter Egg Toss and enjoying some sweet treats. Please register in the office by Tuesday, April 11, so enough supplies and sweets will be available.

Pajama Story Time & Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Young children and their caregivers are invited to enjoy a pajama story time with their stuffed animals! Afterwards, the stuffed animals are welcome to sleepover Ages Families at the library. We will ensure they have a Dates Apr 11 good time and will snap photos of their adventures. Both the photos and the Days Tuesday stuffed animals will be ready after 3 p.m. on Time 6:30pm-7:30pm Wednesday April 12th for pick up. Story Times Sherman Public Library invites you to join us in building early literacy skills by enjoying stories, music, puppets, fingerplays, and more. Children earn a new book every 4th week they attend. Story Time will not meet March 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th. Contact us at least a week before if your child has any special needs so we can ensure that the child will have a good experience. Younger and older siblings are invited, but will not be able to earn books.
Young Readers
Young Readers is a weekly afternoon program for elementary aged kids. We will explore our world with activities, crafts, experiments, and more all based on one or two stories! Contact us at least week before if your child has any special needs so we can insure that the child will have a good experience. Max of 20 participants.
Preteen Reads
Can’t wait to share with someone a book you just read? Want to hear about some new ones? Come join our monthly book club! Bring the books you have been reading and we will all talk about them. This group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Max 20 participants.
SPLAT! Sherman Public Library Advisory Teens
SPLAT members help plan teen programs, select materials for the teen collections, volunteer for numerous activities, and more! This group meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Before attending the program, you must visit our teen page at ci.sherman.tx.us/library and fill out the SPLAT! Application.
