Louise Jagus, An Unexpected Leader
My Problems
A look into the life of a fearful girl with seemingly fearless actions
Geez Louise
Louise Jagus, a 17 year old natural leader, was born in Kauai, Hawaii on August 26th, 1999. She has three half siblings, two on her mother’s side and one on her father’s. Although she has never met either of her biological parents or siblings she hopes to someday stand in their presence. Her adoption and status as an only child is what has molded her into the strong leader that she is. Louise currently coaches three volleyball teams. participates as a Girl Scout camp counselor at Willow Springs Program Center, and held the title of team captain on two of her three previous teams.
Her leadership shines through in almost e verything she does. In newspaper she received the award for being the most outspoken, which shows that she is not afraid to take the lead and speak her mind. Although she retired as an athlete she continues to pursue her passion for volleyball through the YMCA as a volunteer coach and referee. When she was a young child, Louise never saw herself as a leader. She hated public speaking and tried to stay behind the scenes. When put in stressful situations she thinks rationally and acts based on facts and reason. Her logical thought process combined with overwhelming empathy is what makes her a fantastic leader.

Louise has participated in camp as a counselor since the Summer of 2013. Last summer in 2016 she decided to leave the camp and pursue her dreams of going to college and focusing on her education. At camp, counselors were required to choose a “nickname” to enhance the fun and hold the interest of the girls. Louise chose the name Beowulf after the heroic Medevial dragon slayer.

Louise has played of three separate volleyball club teams. Her most recent team, Ignite, is where she experienced the most growth as a player and person. Unfortunately, she was forced to quit due to the pettiness and drama of her teammates. Although she no longer plays, her volleyball passion still burns in her heart. Since the “professional” photographer hired to take Louise’s team pictures was so terrible, her father opted to do a photoshoot in her backyard.
