(1) The Computer icon is used to create various drives and keep our personal documents in it in an assorted way. (2) The purpose is to keep Users personal documents safe & secure at one place which is easy to find & flexibly accessible without any guest user interference. (3) It helps the user to maintain the privacy, stay organized and they can use their documents as and when required as per their needs. (4) Only the soft copies or e-copies of our documents and pictures can be kept in it. Other then some digital media files like videos, or music and movies etc.


Chapter-III Icons Usage Recycle Bin

(1) When users delete anything useless from their personal stuff like documents, or pictures, or videos, or music and movies etc. it automatically reaches the recycle bin at first place. (2) Recycle Bin is the only chance where a user can recover the deleted stuff incase if something really important is being deleted by fault by the user. (3) Restore: Open Recycle Bin double click the item after selection and click restore to get it back to its place. (4) Delete: After a recheck at the Recycle Bin if the user is confident enough that the deleted stuff is really useless it can be wiped off the computer completely.


Chapter-III Icons Usage Skype

(1) Skype is a web based voice chat software which is being used by the users universally for online live chat sessions with their known users formally & casually. (2) Skype is being used by many companies these days for online interviews as it become easier for the candidates and the recruiter to be available online flexibly for the interviews as it is time savvy & cost effective. Skype is being used for online conferences and meetings as well. (3) Skype is being used by the serials as well for live online chat sessions for their shows & Majorly it is being used by the media houses as well these days for live News sessions of their news channels respectively. (4) And last but not the least Skype can be used for written chat, file sharing like documents, pictures, music and videos etc as well.


Chapter-III Icons Usage Miscellaneous (1) A personalized folder can be used for keeping the stuff like documents, pictures, music & videos etc both in My computer as well as on the desk top. (2) Connection indicator shows if the net work is connected or disconnected on the laptop. (3) Anti-virus indicator pops up the notification incase of any potential threat is found and action required to resolve them. (4) Software update indicator pops up the notification incase of any software update is required on the laptop.


Chapter-III Icons Usage Miscellaneous (1) Windows icon can be used to operate other programs available on the laptop. (2) Minimized windows or opened web pages can be found near windows sign on the task bar. (3) Battery indicator shows the % of battery charged, if the device is connected to the power and incase if the charge is required. (4) Sound icon can be used to adjust the laptops sound as per the requirement. (5) Date, Day & Time icon can be used to adjust the current date, day & time as per the calendar.


Chapter-IV Web Browsers (1) A Web Browser is actually a software application that allows users to view web pages, other content & technologies such as videos, graphic files, & digital certificates, to name a few. (2) Web Browsers are gateway to find information through internet by browsing various websites at world wide web. Among fastest browsers internet explorer, goggle chrome, Mozilla Firefox, opera & Safari are the mostly used browsers worldwide. (3) A web browser is an application program which interprets html & process retrieving, presenting, traversing information which in return presents the final web page. It helps the user for their educational, official/ formal, travel & leisure, casual, socializing, entertainment and dining needs as & when required.

Web Browsers Search Engines (1) Search Engines are the largest of the finding and often search the full text of many Web pages. The resources found are often numerous, numbering in the millions (representing billions of words), through not always well selected for quality or subject relevance. Even though they can be difficult to use and frequently result in many false drops, for many topics they are essential. However, be prepared to sift through many inconsequential pages to find what you want. (2) Search engines use spiders or robots (a type of software tool), to continually comb vast domains of internet documents for information. Resources found are placed in the search engine’s database which are made available for searching by the user. (3) Users can connect to a search engine site and enter key words to query the index. The best matches, whether web pages or other internet resources, are then returned as hits. (4) Search engines vary according to the size of the index, the frequency of updating the index, the search options, the speed of returning a result set, the result set presentation, the relevance of the items included in a result set, and the overall ease of use.


Chapter-IV Web Browsers Facebook (1) Face book is a web based world’s biggest social website which is being used by millions of users universally for socializing with their Families, Friends, Societies, Communities, Organizations, NGOs, Favorite celebrities, Brands, Books, Videos, Movies, Songs, Media News channels Religious Trusts, Freedom Fighters, & Political Leaders etc. (2) Face book is being used by many Brands, Companies, Big Corporate Groups under Govt. Sector, Private Sector, Corporation Sectors and Non Government Organizations these days for the marketing purpose as it become easier for these groups to connect and socialize with their consumers & raise public awareness. (3) Face book is basically being used by the users for socializing, sharing pictures, videos, posts, views, likes, comments, tags, chat, voice chat etc which in totality represents the nature & character of a user. (4) Face book is an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Its website was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg with his Harvard College roommates and fellows.


Chapter-IV Web Browsers You tube (1) You tube is a free video sharing website that makes it easy to watch online videos. Viewers can even create and upload their own videos to share them with others. (2) You tube is now one of the most popular sites on the web, with visitors watching around 6 billion hours of videos every month. (3) You tube is headquartered in San Bruno, California, United States. The service was created by three former pay pal employees in February 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for US$ 1.65 billion. You tube now operates as one of the Google’s

(1) Upgrading is the process of replacing a product with a newer version of the same product. In computing and consumer electronics an upgrade is generally a replacement of hardware, software or firmware with a newer or better version, in order to bring the system up to date or to improve its characteristics. (2) Computing and consumer electronics: Examples of common hardware upgrades include installing additional memory (RAM), adding larger hard disks, replacing microprocessor cards or graphic cards, and installing new versions of software. Many other upgrades are often possible as well. (3) Common software upgrades include changing the version of an operating system, of an office suite, of an anti-virus program, or of various other tools. (4) Common firmware upgrades include the updating of the iPod control menus, the Xbox 360 dashboard, or the non-volatile flash memory that contains the embedded operating system for a consumer electronics device.


Chapter-VI Anti- Virus

(1) Microsoft Security Essentials is a free antivirus program for your personal computer, and provides real-time protection against viruses, spyware and other malicious software. (2) The program runs in the background while you’re using your PC and checks daily for any updates from the internet. It performs scheduled scans of your computer for any malware, automatically blocking most threats. (3) Basically, if your Microsoft Security Essentials icon is displayed as green in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, your computer is in good condition. (4) If the program detects a problem or threat, it displays a message with the detected item, the alert level, and the recommended action so you can decide how to proceed. You can also use Microsoft Security Essentials to perform a manual scan of a file, a folder, or your entire PC, at any time.


Chapter-VII Microsoft Office (1) Microsoft Word or MS-Word (often called word) is a graphical word processing program that users can type with. It is made by the computer company Microsoft. The purpose of the MS Word is to allow the user to type and save documents. Similar to other word processors, it has helpful tools to make documents. Spelling check & grammar checker, word count (this also counts letters and lines). Speech recognition, Inserts pictures in documents, web pages, graphs etc. Tables, Displays synonyms of words and can read out the text and print in different ways. (2) Microsoft Excel is a spread sheet application developed by Microsoft for Microsoft windows , Mac OS X, and iOS. It features calculation, graphic tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. It has been a very widely applied spread sheet for these platforms, especially since version 5 in 1993, and it has replaced Lotus 1-2-3 as the industry standard for spreadsheets. Excel forms part of Microsoft Office.


Chapter-VII Microsoft Office (3) Microsoft PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program currently developed by Microsoft. PowerPoint’s predecessor, “presenter”, was created by Forethought Inc., and PowerPoint was officially launched on May 22. 1990, as a part of Microsoft Office Suite. PowerPoint is well-known for helping develop the slide based presentation format, and is currently one of the most commonly-used presentation programs available. (4) Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager from Microsoft, available as a part of the Microsoft Office Suite. Although often used mainly as an email application, it also includes a calendar, task manager, contact manager, note taking, journal, and web browsing. It can be used as a stand alone application, or can work with Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SharePoint Server for multiple users in an organization, such as shared mailboxes and calendars, Exchange public folders, SharePoint lists, and meeting schedules. Microsoft has also released mobile applications for most mobile platforms, including iOS and Android. Developers can also create their own custom software that works with Outlook and Office components using Microsoft Visual Studio.[2] In addition, Windows Mobile devices can synchronize almost all Outlook data to Outlook Mobile.
