In 2010 Australia’s 23– year– old Dane Searls set out to build some of the biggest dirt jumps BMX had every seen. With the help of unit clothing, the Giants of Dirt Project was under way. A number of jumps were built on a hill side in Boonah, South Eastern Queensland. The course featured a massive 32-hip, followed by a 35-,50-, and a 60-foot set.
Born: February 22,1988 in Umina, Australia.
Nothing came easy though. Wind, rain, flooding, and crashes, all took its toll on the project. And Dane– it made the challenge even tougher. However after a year and a half of multiple sessions, Dane finally made it through all the sets and threw down some huge tricks.
UNIT’S GIANTS OF DIRT PROJECT
After Dane finished his first session, there was a long wait for the next one.
Here are Danes exact words. Dane: Yeah, Queensland had the worst weather they’ve had in the last hundred years– floods pretty much the whole summer. I was living in Sydney and I moved up to Queensland to be near the jumps and ride them every day, but in the five or six months I was there I didn’t ride them once because it rained every single day for four or five months straight. It destroyed the jumps. I got one little window of opportunity and that was filming for part II, but the rest of the jumps were written off. And the second downer [landing] was just beaten up, so to me it just looked like a chopped-up downer for a trick jump,
so I was like “ yeah, let’s just try to make the most of it and get some tricks out on this second jump while the rest of the jumps were written off.”
Extremely horrifying news strikes the biking industry as legendary BMX rider Dane Searls dies in hospital.
Taken to soon but never forgotten
Dane Searls has died in hospital after diving from a balcony at a Gold Coast pub. Searls, 23, had been in a coma since the night after he attempted to dive
from the first floor of Billy's Beach House into the pool. He missed the pool and landed on the cement, causing critical head and back injuries

Downhill Biking (DH) is a time trial mountain biking event held on a course with a net decrease in elevation. As the name of this discipline implies, downhill races are held on steep, downhill terrain, resulting in high speed descents, and with extended air time off jumps and other obstacles. A continuous course is defined on each side by a strip of tape. The width of the course can vary greatly over the length of the course, but it is typically between about 2m and 10m wide. Riders have one attempt to reach the finish line in the shortest amount of time while remaining between the tape.
Some of the sickest spots to ride are highland mountain bike park, whistler mountain bike parks park, Vermont , Mont-Sainte-Anne,

Biking is not a sport and its not a competition. BIKING IS A PASSION! There’s no way to explain in words the feeling or adrenaline that comes upon you as you riding.
When I hop on my bike and start riding, I don’t think about anything else and it seems all my problems go away. That excitement you get in that moment as your flying down the trail or catching mad air off a jump. You cant teach anyone this feeling. Yea you can show them how to pedal without training wheels but once they learn, its all up to them. I live to ride. Everything I do, in one way or another has something to do with biking. I love the rush you get and that quick moment of stall when it feels like you have left the world for a moment and your floating in this peaceful bubble that no one can interrupt. I just the love it in general. Its not just about riding, and being the best, its about your love and passion for it. No matter what happens in my life, biking will always clear my mind and help me trough it, (biking is my get away, and really its pretty much therapeutic.
My motto is NO BUILD, NO RIDE . If your not going to take the time to build something and put hard work in to what you love, well then you don't deserve to ride. There isn't trails and spots to ride all over the place and where there is, they didn't just appear there. People had to put a lot of time and man hours into the trails. So when you’re out riding on trails, be Respectful, and treat them right, oh and most importantly RIDE HARD!!

Finishing the frame for the berm at night.( a generator, a light, and a chain saw).
As I said, it’s about the passion. My buddy and I were up building and working on a trail till around midnight.
The next morning when we went back up to the trail to check our work and work some more, This is what we had done so far.
