Now everyone thinks they know how to properly play video games, but there are in fact some little tricks to making your gaming experience even more enjoyable. For example the foods you eat, what you’re drinking, what type of game you’re playing, and even what you’re sitting on can affect your game time. Now before you can even think about playing a video game, you have to decide if you’re hungry or not. If yes, you need to make informed decisions on the type of food you eat. Anything greasy, powdery or wet can really determine how much fun you have, really greasy things are messy and get all over your controller which can be quite a hassle to clean off. The same thing goes for powdery things like the seasoning on chips, which in my opinion are the worst things to eat while gaming; the seasoning gets all over the place, and can gum up your controller buttons. Wet foods are arguably the worst, what I mean by wet foods are foods that have a syrup on them that can make your hands sticky and stuff like oranges that are sometimes messy. When you eat something that make your hands sticky, the also make the controller sticky which can be quite uncomfortable to hold onto for long periods of time, controllers are also known to stay sticky for a while after the incident.

Finally you need a comfortable chair or couch to crash on to dedicate many hours of virtual reality to. This is all personal preference and there’s no one chair that will suit everyone. Couches are great for gaming because if you’re tired you can always lay down. Some people like a reclining arm chair, or a beanie bag chair.

After choosing an appropriate snack to munch on, it’s time to choose a game. If you’re a violent person, what better way to take out all your anger than to virtually destroy a young child on the other team? I’d recommend something like Battlefield, Halo, or Call of Duty, if you enjoy more gruesome games I’d recommend something like Gears of War. People who like a mix of puzzles and action, Fallout is a great choice. If you want a game that’s relaxing and easy to play, racing games are great or games similar to them. The worst thing you can do is to try and get into a game you don’t enjoy; you’ll just get frustrated and have an awful time.

#8 is L.A NOIRE. This crime drama of a game uses revolutionary facial-mapping techniques that make the characters face muscles move realistically. It tops out at 8 because the novelty of the faces wears off after a while and it, admittedly becomes quite stressful.

#7 is DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION. It’s a spy/1st person shooter game that is also a sequel. It was a fun title to play, but I was not invested in the story as much as I should have been. Also this is a sequel

Nintendo later on came out with a few other successful toys such as the Ultra Machine and the Love Tester.

E l e c t r o n i c In 1974 Nintendo decided to venture into the video game business. They did this by getting the rights to distribute the Magnavox Odyssey video game console in Japan. This opportunity opened up huge doors for Nintendo. In 1977 Nintendo began to produce their own hardware called the color tv home video console.

Four versions of this console were made and each console had different variations of the same game. In a student game developer was hired at this time to create the covers for the Color TV game, his name was Shigeru Miyamoto 1975 Nintendo moved into the arcade sector of video games with the EVR race. Jetpacks? Joy rides? Who ever thought the two things could come together into one fun for the whole family game. Half Brick Studios have successfully released an enjoyable app for the apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The game was released in august of 2011, and has surprisingly mustered up over 16 million downloads so far. In short, Jetpack Joyride is exactly what the title says. The purpose of the game is to get as many coins and cover as much distance as you can after stealing a jetpack while avoiding obstacles such as lasers, missiles, and electric barriers. You can also complete missions while doing this to gain levels and money which can be used to buy vehicle upgrades, new jetpacks, and power ups. This game uses simple controls by simply touching the screen to go up with your jetpack or any vehicle you acquire. In conclusion I would give this game a 7/10 because it keeps your interest at first, and does a great job at it, but after completing the same tedious task over and over again. The controls also play a large factor in this rating because they are easy and anyone could do them, simply touch the screen in any place and off you go. Some things they should have added or worked on were more mission, vehicle upgrades and a map to run on to spice it up a little as you level up.

We’ve all played video games, it’s nearly impossible in today’s society not to. The problem with this is what happens if you develop an addiction. Video game and Internet addiction are not actually recognized as diagnosable disorders, but they do exist. Video game addiction is defined as the extreme over use of computer and video games that interfere with everyday life. There are certain signs and symptoms related to video game addiction, most are related to blatant overuse and exhaustion. Some of the recognizable behavioural symptoms such as:  

  

Most free time is spent playing games. Poor performance in school. i.e.: falling asleep in class, falling averages and falling behind in assignments and school work. Becoming defensive or lying about video game use. Hostility toward others such as friends or family when not playing. Foregoing time with friends for time playing games.

There are also physical symptoms such as:  Carpal Tunnel.  Poor sleep patterns.  Back aches and/or neck aches.  Headaches.  Dry eyes.  Poor personal hygiene.  Not eating properly. There are certain reasons a game is addictive. Highscore is one of the most recognizable hooks, whether you’re beating your own or taking on a friend it can occupy someone for hours. Possibly the most obvious hook is simply beating the game. There are games nowadays that can last for over 100 hours. Role-playing is another one; the player can build a character to personify their view of perfection. This can lead some players to become overly invested in a game and care more about their fake-cartoon- monster then they do their own personal lives. Good “treatments” for video game addiction can be difficult, a therapist or program would be the most logical place to start, if not, just get out of your element and maybe attend a summer camp or go on a vacation with no access to the internet or games. 12
