hello, friend... While summer days may be sweltering, you just can't beat summer evenings for dining al fresco. From picnics to poolside entertaining, this issue is chockablock with inspiration to help you make the most of these fleeting summer nights. Here in the United States we are about to celebrate America's 238th birthday with our July 4th festivities, and if you are planning a party I'm sure you will be inspired by some of the patriotic projects and recipes in these pages. There are also some wonderful decorating ideas for infusing summer charm into your home this season, from beach chic to classic Americana, there is inspiration aplenty. If you are planning to attend any flea markets or tag sales soon, be sure to check out our "10 Tips for Scoring the Best Finds" on page 58. I know I'm looking forward to doing a bit of treasure hunting and these ideas will come in handy. Speaking of shopping, I was delighted to have recently discovered a new chain of stores with women's fashions called Altar'd State and am very excited to introduce you to them on page 95. This faith-based store has such a positive platform and a strong mission to "do good." I think you will love them as much as I do. I am incredibly grateful to my wonderful contributors for sharing their amazing talents, and for you, dear reader, for supporting all of us in spreading joy and beauty and for embracing every opportunity to celebrate everyday life. Thank you.

Where would you take your dream summer holiday, and why?

My dream holiday would be Fiji. It's where my husband and I have talked about going since we were kids.

My dream holiday would have to be a return trip to Gordes, Luberon in Provence, France, and the Hotel Les Bories. It was always a wish of mine to go there after reading Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence and my memories of that trip are like a dream come true!!

I would love to visit England during the summer. It is my dream. I think it is a land rich in charm and beauty.

I would take my dream summer holiday in Rosemary, a quaint beach town along the Emerald Coast of Florida. We've been going there for years. Staying at the same charming beach house, lingering over morning coffee on the covered porch, watching for dolphins, eating at the same favorite restaurants. When we drive into Rosemary on that first day of vacation, I feel myself breathe deep and relax. I love ritual, even on summer holidays, and can't think of any place I'd rather go!

My dream summer holiday would be to live in Greece or Italy on the water, somewhere I could walk to a cafe each morning for coffee and the market each evening to get fresh ingredients for dinner. A lemon tree in the backyard would be icing on the cake!

Jill Flory www.sewafineseam.com France. I want to go to France. Because I want to experience French antiques and linens and food and get my hands on some delightful brocante finds!

Narnia, because it would be snowing and there would be Turkish Delight.

If I was going on a holiday this summer I would want to go to Italy to do an art retreat!

I would take my dream summer holiday to Scotland with my husband, Bobby. I lived in Scotland when I was a little girl and have such wonderfully fond memories. I would love to revisit Edinburgh and the Highlands and take a trip along the coast. I would like to play St. Andrews with him and stay in castles and take tea the proper way with bread and jam along the roadside at 4:00. The haunting sound of bagpipes keeps calling me back!

Amy Renea www.anestforallseasons.com I dream of summer in Paris. I have never been there and it is definitely on my bucket list!

Aimee Twigger www.twiggstudios.com

My dream summer holiday would find me snapping photos in beautiful Paris, France. I’d sample real French macarons, pastries and other authentic cuisine and spend the rest of the time shopping the Paris flea markets, that until then, I’d only read about.

My dream summer holiday would be somewhere in the Caribbean. We love going to the Dominican Republic — it's so beautiful.
