01 ARCHITECTURE CENTRE SIGN *Xanthi | 2018
Τhis sign is complementary with the design of an Architecture Centre on the central square of the city of Xanthi. Instead of creating a sign, the design consists of a spacial structure with walls and a central info point for the Architecture Centre. This creates a type of landmark that you pass through, climb up and enter. It is located next to the museum so that it lead directly to it and at the same time channel the movement to the central square. The info point is a light metallic structure and the panels are concrete with the name of the museum moulded on.

NESTOS GORGE OBSERVATORY Landspace and Architecture *Nestos Gorge | 2015
‘Landscape and architecture’ integrates knowledge and techniques both from landscape and architectural synthesis. All these are combined to formulate an architectural design, conceived as continually modulated by the spatial dynamics and characteristics of the existing place. Nestos is a river which is running in Greece and Bulgaria and Springs from the Rila Mountains. Nestos Gorge is located in the area of Xanthi, in Toxotes village, and it is a Natura 2000 protected natural habitat. Apart from its enviromental value the gorge accomodates different types of activities and it is ideal tourist and nature lover destination. The shelter will be located on the mountain side route which has a great view of the river. It consists of a non-permanent steel structure, oblique to the rock. Its vertical elements are wooden decks and it is divided in 4 plateaus. The installation also has an indoor heated space which makes it convenient for winter excursions.

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING WITH SMALL GALLERY *Xanthi | 2015
The site is located at the city centre of Xanthi and its two faces see the very busy street of Tsaldari in the North and the area of Saturdays open market on the South. In the east and west it’s adjacent to other residential buildings. The intention for the building is to have the two faces connect and also have every part of the structure be naturally illuminated. It consists of four family flats, and at the ground floor a multipurpose exhibition space (gallery). The building also serves its residents by having reserved parking spaces in the basement as well as storage rooms.

TOBACCO MUSEUM *Xanthi | 2017
The city of Xanthi has a long history of tobacco trade. In its heritage there are a lot of abandoned tobacco warehouses that are in need of preservation. The goal of the project is to reuse an old warehouse and its surroundings, with the use of a museum to preserve the history of the industrial activity of the general area of Xanthi. The selected warehouse is located in a family neighbourhood and the site is adjacent to houses and across the Police Department of Xanthi. A calm surroyndng enviroment with low traffic not far from the city centre. DESIGN INTENTIONS: 1) Creation of a new building for the exhibitions. 2) Use of the warehouse for the functions of the restaurant, teachers, library, administration and extension of the entrance (with gift shop, canteen, WC etc. 3) Preservation of the materials oν the facades in the warehouse in order to maintain the traditional style. 4) Use of metal and concrete in new constructions. 5) Entrance in the center for channeling the uses. 6) Preservation of the existing greenery of the site. 7) Main entrance to the site from Platonos Street and connection to the other side. 8) Creating a level below the level +/- 0.00m. which, however, will be properly and naturally illuminated. 9) Creating contrasting facades (windows - walls) 16

REPURPOSING OF INDUSTRIAL AREA *Thassos | 2017
The Limenaria Mining Complex in Thassos Island is a very important industrial heritage monument, the historical and scientific value of which has been confirmed by multiple institutional declarations of the Ministry of Culture, as well as resolutions of bodies in Greece on industrial heritage (TICCIH- ICOMOS). Today, the Thassos Ports Mining Complex is unfortunately located in abandonment and needs immediate protection. The proposed architectural interventions aim at the morphological reconnection of the elements of the surrounding space, of existing shells and offer possibilities for creative coexistence of the new composition in relation to the old construction. As a prerequisite for new design interventions, it is considered that they must express the era in which, they are created, utilizing modern technologies and materials. Respecting the natural environment and the existing listed buildings (furnaces), we sought our intervention not to be permanent. Our goal from the beginning was to add elements, mostly metallic, that will be removable or transferable. As a general feeling, we wanted to redefine the character of the area and give a mood of harmony and relaxation. Our initial goal was to preserve the view and orient the subject to the sea and create of a basic multipurpose space with a cultural background. More specifically, in the part of the plateau at the level of +7.00m. we created a small amphitheater made of carved stones in the area and overlooking the sea. There is also a metal entrance sign shelter, which houses the ticket counter and auxiliary functions (toilets).

At the level of the kilns (+/- 0.00m.) the original routes are maintained, while there is an external, central, metal staircase and glass elevator, which end at the metal bridge at +7.30 m. This bridge is essentially a connecting factor both between the kilns and the plateau (horizontally), and between the levels (vertically) through the stairwell. The kilns are assigned with different uses. The first (facing north) has a circular internal staircase so that the passerby gets an essence of the narrowness and big height of the space. In the second kiln we set an Info Point with various banners hanging from its ceiling. The third kiln we aim to function as a “museum of itself by creating a special construction simulating its original form. The fourth kiln, whose peculiarity is its square cross-section, is a small canteen that serves the functions of the plaza.

PORT REFORMATION URBAN DESIGN
*Kavala
| 2017
The study area is located near the center of Kavala; it constitutes part of the south sea-front of the city, forming a peculiar junction with the urban fabric. In detail, the theme deals with a site forming part of the former port facilities. In its current state, the site is characterized by a total absence of design. The buildings situated in the area particularly being auxiliary buildings and warehouses with the exception of a small passenger station building. The area is typified by the vast concrete-paved area that offers little incentive for the development of public activities, despite of the fact that it being in close proximity to city centre. The proposal starts from the demolition of the majority of the building fabric from the site, releasing the area for its redevelopment into a single public place, at the same time, transforming it into an environment designed to be used for cultural events, recreation, soft sporting activities, walking and relaxation.

The large oblong building situated at the water-front is exempt from demolition. So we manipulate the building envelope and structure, reversing – revealing its key structural components in order to reshape – transform it into an essentially elevated public space. So by reforming the basic structure of the port and creating new axes, we have a new canvas to work on. We implemented different types of activities in the design, and tried to integrate a new relationship with nature. Not only there’s a new exchange with the city centre and the sea front, we also create an urban forest, adding a touch of nature on the site.

SMALL DAYCARE *Personal project
A projected I designed for honing my skills in Interior Design. It is a small space for small children, with mostly custom made wooden structures (room dividers), to give the space a warm tone, and at the same time with the accents, decoration and colouring giving it a playful vibe. It is a two floor building, with the main floor accomodating the childrens’ activities, and a basement for auxilary uses, such as WC, storage spaces etc. There is also a small backyard with a seating area. The raised wooden floor works as an open space divider just by elevating the back rooms.

ECOWEEK
15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION | DESIGNING TEAM ECOWEEK is an international non-profit organization with the passion to change people’s habits and the mission to raise awareness on environmental issues, Climate Change and to promote the principles of social and environmental sustainability. First established in Greece in 2005, ECOWEEK has developed outreach programs in 17 countries, and the ECOWEEK network has reached out to 56 countries. The year 2020-2021 ECOWEEK is celebrating its 15year anniversary with new programs and activity! THE EXHIBITION The design process of the exhibition follows what EcoWeek stands for and its expanding work over the years. Inspired by its projects, locations, materiality and what it stands for in general we tried as team to convey that through design. For the 15 years of EcoWeek we have 15 pavillions.
THE LOBBY Palestinian architect Omar Yousef once said that ECOWEEK is like a healthy forest: it provides a safe platform for diversity and cooperation. As bees will come when we plant flowers, children will come when we set up seating or playing installations. So the Lobby (the connecting entrance to the pavillions) consists of a geodesic dome structure and its inside structure is reminiscent of the age indicative rings of a tree. 66
2005-2010 The organization launches and starts growing its roots. The designs are more abstract.
2011-2015 EcoWeek starts to grow and implement more countries in its action. The designs start having more materaility.
2016-2020 EcoWeek is at its best. It has a more stable structure and the cube represents it best so it becomes a module basis. Placemaking becomes a reoccuring theme so its implemented in all the designs. In 2020 the first online event is launched so while keeping the cube as a basis, it is design to feel like a cloud.

AREA OF STUDY || GREEN SPACES
In spring 2020, during Covid-19 lockdown, Thessaloniki New Waterfront was sealed off to constrain virus dispersal. Abolishing access to the city’s major attractor of public recreation provoked a spontaneous counter reaction: the civic appropriation of a multitude of open-air territories in the 1970’s urban development zone along the waterfront. Sparsely maintained, unarticulated and commonly deserted, these urban open spaces were re-discovered and inhabited during quarantine, bringing forth a new sense of neighborhood. Considering the case of Thessaloniki as a local yet generalizable paradigm, the aim of the workshop is to redesign the spaces between the apartment buildings of New Waterfront, in order to highlight their user and environmentally friendly characteristics.
TYPOLOGY MAP || OBSERVATION
The main analysis examines the integration of existing free spaces, where possible, as well as the design methods that enhance the character of the area. Some of the methods examined are the placement of deciduous trees in these common areas, so that natural light reaches them during the winter and shades them in the summer, the application of a composting bin in an unused neighborhood fountain, the reuse of urban equipment located in poor condition in the site, in order to create new, eco-friendlier equipment, the installation of, water permeable paving, so that the rainwater can reach the aquifer and the installation of multifunctional furniture for the needs of the neighborhood. Through this process, the mapping, categorization and merging of free spaces that can be integrated is attempted and special design standards are examined, such as that of the circular economy, reuse, recycling, the creation of green spaces and the promotion of existing ones.
