Located in the heart of Clifton, Ohio (outside the city of Cincinnati), this new young adult library will foster an educational environment providing young adults with the tools to discover both new information and themselves. The fully equipped art studio will allow young adults the guidance and resources to realize their full creative and personal potential. A curved digital wall extending from the first to the top floor will act as a display of information, young adult artwork, and inspirational art exhibits by local artists.

October 9 - November 20, 2015 • Programs/Methods Used: Adobe Photoshop + Illustrator // Hand Drafting + Model Making • Original drawings + model 1/8 Inch = 1 Foot

The beauty of nature is celebrated with the dramatic escalation of windows as the journey through the nature center progresses. The curves of the building influence movement in and around the center in an effortless and natural course. The center allows for the exploration of nature in an interactive and exciting way through the open floor plan and abundance of windows and views into the research laboratory.

The flooring throughout the building is made of satin polished concrete. The satin finish allow slight from the large windows to reflect into the room without the glare a polished floor would create. The concrete also acts as structural support for the building.

POLISHED CONCRETE

GLASS FASSETS The nature center is largely made of glass bearing structural and visual functions. The glass integrated into the building comes is large panes and will be faceted using stainless steel connections keeping the glass visually undisrupted while maintaining structural integrity.

MATERIALS

HUESTON WOODS NATURE CENTER

The first impression of a building starts with the facade; the wood panels are made of wood from the site when cleared to build. This sustainable motion keeps the natural feel while creating a modern expression.

CORRUGATED METAL

WOOD SIDING The roof of the nature center will be made of corrugated metal adding as a complimentary contrast to the natural wood elements of the facade. The metal also reflects sunshine off the roof, keeping unwanted heat out.

SECTION B

Using trees on the site, three predominant walkways were developed. The buildings, made of cortan steel and glass, are placed between the walkways to create a central location for entering and exiting the complex. Two buildings are conditioned, to be used for studios and classes; the third for open air gatherings. The landscaping pieces, also made of cortan steel, reinforce the movement towards and away from the center of the complex while creating spaces that can be used for studying or social gathering.

Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature, it will never fail you.

14

August 31 - September 14, 2015 • Programs/Methods Used: Hand Drafting + Model Making • Original drawings + model 3/8 Inch = 1 Foot

Placed on the corner of an intersection, this shelter provides its patrons with protection from weather while creating an environment of its own. Inspired by the sound and flow of water, the transit shelter uses rain to entertain its patrons as they await their bus. The angular copper roof plays with sound as it guides the flowing water to a center sculpture creating an experience all the way through the structure.

Using knowledge of human behavior, proportion, and structure, an elegant installation capturing the essence of human emotion and memory was designed. The floor begins flat and begins to rise the further in the patron travels creating an effect of a wave throughout the space. The memories we create can be detrimental to who we are, symbolized as the tallest and most uneven of areas; we also have memories that fade away symbolized in the areas where the flow evens to the ground.
