EDITORS NOTE Wow I cannot believe that another month has flown by and I am writing yet another Editorial. We have expanded our team once again and welcome Maria to our awesome group of writers that just love researching and writing about Simple Plan. Every time we put an edition to bed, SP announce something really cool, like this month announcing that they could play new songs at the Australian Warped Tour. YEAH! This month Leeann and I had a dream come true and met All Time Low. Meeting them and seeing them for the second time this year was special for us both. (Hope you can understand our Review!) This edition is a little different than the one we usually do as we focus on All Time Low and the connection between them and Simple Plan. This was great fun to research and pull all the stories and reviews together. I think this is one of my favourite editions. Thanks to the Aussie bands that took the time to be interviewed by us, and I apologise for delaying the Hawk Nelson interview till next month. Part of my job as Editor is to develop our team by increasing their writing and editorial potential. This is why next month Maddie is going to be the Editor. I have all the confidence in the world in Maddie and she has a great future ahead of her. I am proud of our team! I hope you, the reader enjoy this edition. Peace out, Jen

SONG OF THE MONTH Freaking ft. A

Album: Get Your Heart On Release: June 21st 2011 Track: #7 Length: 3:07 Genre: Pop-Punk, Alternative Rock Label: Lava, Atlantic

me out Alex Gaskarth Simple Plan recorded their fourth studio album Get Your Heart On! between August-November 2010 and it was released the year after on June 21st. On this album there were a lot of collaborations and Freaking Me Out was no different. Alex Gaskarth from the band All Time Low gave his voice and personal touch on it. The song is 3:07 minutes long and it has, to me, a rockier and heavier sound to it. Alex is also screaming at one part, which I found very sexy, and it gives a whole new touch to the music and lyrics too for that matter. ‘Freaking Me Out’ is about a relationship. It doesn’t have to be love involved but it’s a relationship of some kind that went wrong because this one person changed into someone different. ‘Everything you say, everything you do, is freaking me out’, freaking me out’ The collaboration with Alex (All Time Low) is something I’d love to see more of, they do great things together and I really hope they’ll work again soon. Other collaborations on this record, GYHO, are Rivers Cuomo, Natasha Bedingfield, Marie-Mai, K’naan and Simple Plan fans. Get Your Heart On is a special album because of the reasons above, collaborations and not just that, female collaborations and duet songs for the first time as well as the song written by the fans – This Song Saved My Life. Collaborations gives the fans a chance to experience new bands/artists as well as hear and see their favorite bands work together which is the case with Simple Plan and All Time Low. ‘Freaking Me Out’ is a great song to play live. It has a rockier sound, as I mentioned earlier, and it makes the crowd go crazy! It’s an up-tempo song and it is such an awesome song both musically but also lyrically. Many fans recognize themselves in a situation where they find themselves confused because someone close to them turned out to be something else. It’s a timeless matter and it speaks to so many of us.

Readers Comments...... “I think it’s a really good song. I love that Alex has a part in it and what the lyrics say.” – Livia “It’s a nice song, the melody is awesome. I like it.” – Elihn “It’s a great song from them! Great collaboration with Alex from ATL and that song really freaks me out!” – Jhane “It’s a great song!” – Anita “I’m not a fan of the band or this kind of music but I find this one song pretty good to be honest.” – Jennifer @QuickestTongue I love this song! It taught me that everyone can change. You think you know that person but you actually don't. He or she can turn into a completely different person that you have never seen before. So be careful! :D But the greatest. thing is that Alex is featured in the song! That’s the best part! Sophie Freaking Me Out was the first song I heard live. They played it at soundcheck and I stood there blown away by being in the same room as these amazing musicians, band and people. It was incredible to see them up there and Pierre practiced on throwing the guitar over the stage. We didn't get to hear the whole song but I didn't mind. I was just so happy about being there to experience it. April 17, 2012, Tyrol Stockholm

Freaking Me out Lyrics

What the hell’s going on Have you gone undercover? You were here, now you’re not Been replaced by another Cause it’s still your face But there’s something strange Not the one I remember Can you please explain Did they wipe your brain? Is this gonna be forever? Cause everything you say Everything you do Is freaking me out, freaking me out You know we used to be the same Who the hell are you Freaking me out, freaking me out Then I swear I thought I knew you But all that was yesterday And now you turn it around, what’s that about? Cause you’re freaking me out, freaking me out Think you’re real, but you’re fake Think you’re deep, but you’re shallow You’ve become, what you hate Now you’re lost, just a shadow So we pull your strings Cause it makes no sense That you act like you’re better You can say these things To your so-called friends And they just might think you’re clever

Wake up, wake up, wake up Snap out of it Wake up, wake up, wake up Snap out of it Wake up, wake up, wake up Everything you say Everything you do Is freaking me out, freaking me out You know we used to be the same Who the hell are you Freaking me out, freaking me out And now Everything you say Everything you do Is freaking me out, freaking me out So why’d you play your games Who’re you trying to fool? Freaking me out, freaking me out And I swear I thought I knew you But all that was yesterday And now you turn it around, what’s that about? Cause you’re freaking me out, freaking me out

But everything you say Everything you do Is freaking me out, freaking me out You know we used to be the same Who the hell are you Freaking me out, freaking me out Then I swear I thought I knew you But all that was yesterday And now you turn it around, what’s that about? Cause you’re freaking me out, freaking me out

It was the year 2003 when highschool friends Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, Zack Merrick and Rian Dawson decided it would be a cool idea to form a band. Little did they know that ten years later they would play sold out shows all over the world and be one of the most popular bands in the poppunk genre. It all started with Jack inviting Alex to play with him in a band covering Blink-182 songs in eight grade. Alex was not exactly excited about that, since he was more the “Bob Marley and Incubus kind of kid”. But eventually, Jack convinced Alex to listen to Blink’s live album and he agreed to play in the band. A year later, the old drummer was kicked out of the band and replaced with Rian Dawson. In need of a bassist, they were asking around and that’s how eventually, Zack found his way into the band. They drew heavy influence from Blink, Green Day and New Found Glory, something that has not changed until today.

In the year 2004, they toured with some other local bands such as Dropout Year, Adelphi and Boy Crazy. The same year, they signed on with Emerald Moon Records and released their first EP The Three Words To Remember In Dealing With The End.

The following year, they released their first studio album The Party Scene. The band said that “things got serious” in 2006, when signed to Hopeless Records on Valentine’s Day. A little later, they released their second EP called Put Up or Shut Up. It was the band’s first record to reach the charts, peaking at No. 20 in the US Independent Charts. After months of touring and promoting their EP, they went back to studio to record their second full-length record So Wrong it’s Right. Shortly after the release, they gained major popularity with the new album peaking at No. 62 on the Billboard Top 200. It is to date their most successful record. The first single was “Six Feet under The Stars”, followed by “Dear Maria, Count me in”, which was written about a stripper in their home town. They had to re-name their third single Poppin’ Champagne for its single release because they were underage at the time of the release.

On March 7, 2008 the band made their live TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and were announced Band Of The Year by Alternative Press in December. In between their tours, they started writing for a new album. The band revealed that they co-worked with Blink 182 bassist Mark Hoppus, who got into contact with them after he saw Rian’s Blink tattoo which he’d posted online. In January 2009 they went back to the studio for their third full-length record Nothing Personal. It was released six months later, on July 7. Before its release, Billboard predicted that the album could definitely make it into the Top 10 and it did, peaking at No. 4 in its first week, selling more than 60,000 copies. They played tours with Fall Out Boy, We The Kings and several other popular bands, touring worldwide. In late 2009, they started their headlining Glamour Kills Tour, which went from September to December. They released their first live album Straight to DVD in 2010. It was recorded during their Glamour Kills Tour. In November 2009, the band announced that they had signed to Interscope Records and would release a new album soon. They toured worldwide, playing several festivals and began writing for next studio album in March 2010. More than a year later, in June 2011, they finally released Dirty Work, which was their major debut with Interscope Records. The album is currently the band’s highest selling record overseas.

In late 2011, they toured Canada and the US along with Simple Plan and The Cab. In May 2012, All Time Low announced that they had parted ways again with Interscope Records and signed on with Hopeless Records again, because it “felt more like family”. They also announced that a new album would be released in the second half of 2012. Prior to its release they released a new song called The Reckless and The Brave on June 1st. After finishing the 2012 Warped Tour, the band announced a new headlining tour, featuring The Summer Set, The Downtown Fiction and Hit The Lights. On October 2nd, a week before the release of their new album Don’t Panic, the record was leaked on YouTube by Hopeless Records. They have been touring practically nonstop since its release including Soundwave this year in Australia. The guys of All Time Low are good friends, they toured together twice and Seb and David were guest stars in Jack and Alex’s radio show Full Frontal. All Time Low’s Time Bomb was originally written by Pierre and Chuck, but they decided that it sounded more like All Time Low than Simple Plan so they gave it to them which was a great honour for the band. Read more about this in this edition. Alex Gaskarth was also featured on Freaking Me Out, a song from Simple Plan’s 2011 record Get Your Heart On!. See our feature on Freaking me Out as our song of the month.

A lot of Astronauts are also“ Hustlers“, or at least fans of the band called All Time Low. A lot of Astronauts got to know All Time Low thanks to their collaborations with Simple Plan. But how did it all start? All Time Low were always big fans of Simple Plan. The first time they met them was at Bamboozle Roadshow (U.S.A.) in 2010 where they came up with idea for collaboration. This idea became true when Alex Gaskarth, singer of All Time Low, sang on Simple Plan’s song Freaking Me Out from their latest album – Get Your Heart On! which came out in June 2011.

CONNE In that same year All Time Low’s album Dirty Work came out and we found out, that there’s also some collaboration with Simple Plan – this time Chuck and Pierre wrote lyrics to the song “Time Bomb“. They offered it to All Time Low, for the reason of “Not sounding like a Simple Plan song“, All Time Low changed it a little and then released it on their album. Jack Barakat (guitarist of All Time Low) said in an interview for AllTimeLow.cz as an answer to the question, if they changed the song a lot, this: Yeah, we definitely changed it, just because we wanted to make it an All Time Low song. But it was kind of like an honor to the band that we grew up listening to and the fact that we kind of got to work with them was pretty awesome.“

Written by Maria @MariamAstronaut

Then we saw Simple Plan and All Time Low together on the same festivals in Europe (for example I-Day Festival in Bologna, Italia or Two Days A Week Festival in Wiesen, Austria). In February 2012 All Time Low went on a Canadian tour with Simple Plan supporting them. On that tour they performed “Freaking Me Out“ live for the first time with Alex. Also, Jack was joining Simple Plan on the stage in red suit and he danced a lot while they performed their Party Medley. On the concert in Halifax, Canada, Zack Merrick (bass guitarist of All Time Low) joined Simple Plan while performing “I’d Do Anything“, borrowing David’s bass and playing the rest of the song.

ECTION This year in January All Time Low played a concert in Montreal, Canada and their friends from Simple Plan appeared with them. Jack thanked them in front of all fans for taking them on their first Canadian tour and Alex mentioned, that he wrote the song “Time Bomb“ with them. Later this year All Time Low and Simple Plan also met on Rock Am Ring festival in Germany, where Seb and David joined Alex and Jack at their radio show Full Frontal (episode 2 of the first season).

It was like a time bomb set into motion and only hearing those words; I knew I was destined to love this song. Time Bomb, the 5th track from All Time Low’s Dirty Work had an interesting journey before becoming the song we all know and love today. Simple Plan’s Pierre and Chuck along with acclaimed music producer and writer Matt Squire (Good Charlotte, Boys Like Girls, Kesha) originally started work on the song intending for it to be included on Get Your Heart On. Having hit a wall with the song, Matt, who was also writing with Alex at the time, asked him to check the song out, thinking they might be able to relate to it. After changing things around, re-writing some of the lyrics, it was decided by all involved that Time Bomb was more an ATL song, than an SP one. Alex whetted the appetite of fans by leaking a preview of Time Bomb via his Twitter account on Feb 8th of 2011. This was followed up a week later when the band played the song for the first time live. Alex again leaked the studio version of Time Bomb ten days late, at the time stating on AbsolutePunk that Time Bomb would not be the first single to be released off their upcoming album Dirty Work. In fact, fans would have to wait until November 30th for Time Bomb to be officially released as a single. Since then, Time Bomb has become a firm favourite among fans, being added to most set lists around the world as well as a version of the song being included on The Sims 3: Generations soundtrack and more recently being featured in FIFA Online which was launched in August. Watch the official clip here.

From the get-go I knew this was hard to hold Like a crash the whole thing spun out of control Oh, on a wire, we were dancing Two kids no consequences Pull the trigger, without thinking There's only one way down this road Chorus Well there's no way out of this So let's stay in Every storm that comes, Also comes to an end. Oh resistance, is useless Just two kids stupid and fearless Like a bullet, shooting a livestock There's only one way down this road

Chorus :It was like a time bomb set into motion We knew that we were destined to explode And if I have to pull you out of the wreckage You know I'm never gonna let you go We're like a time bomb Gonna lose it, let's defuse it Baby, we're like a time bomb But I need it Wouldn't have it any other way

Chorus It goes off, we start again When it breaks, we fix it Got your heart in my hands, like a time bomb ticking We should know better, But we won't let go

ALL TIME LOW AUSTRALIAN TOUR After the quick visit to Australia for Sound wave earlier this year as promised All Time Low returned to Australia. They played shows at Brisbane , Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The lucky Australian bands that got to support them are featured on the next few pages. Thanks to these bands for letting me ask them a few questions. One band was a bit busy to be interviewed but you will enjoy reading the interviews of the other bands. I strongly believe these bands have what it takes to make it big! Following the interviews are the reviews by our writers who went to see them. Thanks to them for sharing their stories. We then have a look at the link between Simple Plan and All Time Low. So to kick start it off we look at the song of the month, that you will all know as Freaking Me Out that has Alex from All Time Low singing with Pierre.

I was lucky enough to get in touch with the official Photographers of the All Time Low Australian Tour and I really appreciate them letting me use their Photos. To see more photos of All Time Low and the support bands check out the following facebook pages and make sure you like the page as they will be taking more pics of bands we love!

Swing from a Streetlight are not new comers to the music scene here in Australia. They have been together for nearly ten years. They have shared the stage with bands such as Cascade, City Lights Fade, Hands like Houses and now they can add All Time Low to their long list. They originate from the Western suburbs of Sydney. They list their main influences as New Found Glory, Jimmy Eat World, Mayday Parade and Anberlin. They released an album in 2010 called “We’re just winging this after all” and in 2012 released an EP titled “For a Better Story”

For A Better Story EP Tracks 1. It’s Alive 2 Forecast Happiness 3 Decision, Decisions 4. Attlia the Disco Killer 5. Something in the Water 6. Help (Bonus Track)

Thanks heaps to agreeing to answer a few questions for us. Many or possibly all our readers love All Time Low. I hope they can check out your music and enjoy it like the reviews from our writers in this edition. When you found out that you were supporting ATL how did you celebrate? Must have been an awesome feeling! At first we thought it was a joke and had to read over the email several times to make sure we weren’t going crazy. It only truly hit us when we arrived at the venue on the day. We mostly celebrated with high fives, bro-hugs… and beers! Has ATL influenced your music style? Some of the older stuff from “Put Up or Shut Up” and “So Wrong, It’s Right” definitely. Not only are they so popular that it’s hard to ignore but they write great songs with irresistibly catchy hooks. Was this the biggest show you have ever played? Biggest and best show we’ve ever played! We also opened for Johnny Craig and then supported Cartel a few weeks earlier. We thought those would be the biggest shows we would ever play so supporting ATL at a sold out Roundhouse was a dream come true!

How did you calm your nerves before you played to a crowd this large? All of us were mostly chilled until about 5 minutes before we went on. At that point we couldn’t stand still (everyone standing to the right of the stage would have seen us jumping around!). Right before we went on we gathered in a huddle and just reminded ourselves to play our hearts out and enjoy it. You received a great review from our writers that reviewed that concert, and they believe that you have what it takes to make it big. Have you picked up many new fans by playing this show? Firstly, we’d like to thank your writers for the kind words! Couldn’t have hoped for a better response. We honestly didn’t know what to expect seeing as 99% of the crowd had no idea who Swing From A Streetlight were. Going from the people we met after our set and our friends in the crowd it sounds like we made a decent impression and our social media pages are buzzing so hopefully that means new fans at future shows! What was a highlight of the time you spent with ATL? Or tell us all of them! We only really spent about half an hour with them in total. The highlight was definitely when Alex came into our dressing room just to say hi and have a chat. Also when ATL gave us a shout out during their set. We weren’t expecting that at all. After their set they invited us to their room to have a drink and hang out. They’re all friendly guys and seem really genuine and it was awesome to see that even at their level, they still had their feet on the ground. Also Zach has the body of a spartan warrior, seriously that guy is huge! (Yeah I noticed that as well! haha) Did you pick up any tips that a successful band like ATL has passed on to you? We mostly just talked about music, previous shows on their tour and other band related things. Although Alex did say something like “not sure if they didn’t understand or just didn’t find it funny, but don’t make dick jokes in China”. Does that count as advice? Haha. On a serious note, we made a vow that if our band somehow got to that level we’ll treat every support band as good as ATL treated us.

You had a 40 minute set, did you play any covers? Did the time fly for you as it did the crowd? We played our cover of “Closer” by Ne-Yo (most likely the only song anyone knew from our set!). As they say time flies when you’re having fun! We like to keep our performances flowing and keep the energy up so people don’t get bored or lose interest too much. Who really cares some opening band has to say between songs anyway right!? If new fans want to connect with you how can they? Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Facebook -

We reply to just about everything! YouTube -

What are your future plans? Anything that you can share? At the moment just taking some time to write new material for our next EP. We’re also hoping to head interstate for some shows before the end of the year and possibly a tour early next year. You can hear the first single of our upcoming EP titled “Last Night” on YouTube now.

Hey Luke, thanks for agreeing to answer a few questions for me. I was really pleased when I heard that you were supporting All Time Low in Melbourne for 3 concerts. I have seen you guys before and I could not be happier that they chose you. I really enjoyed your set and I know the people around me did as well. How did you get to be the band to support All Time Low? We were just very lucky I suppose! Our manager submitted us to support and the lovely people at Soundwave touring chose us. Have they been an inspiration to your music so far? I don’t really listen to the band, so not for myself, but I know a few of the other guys have been following the band for years and have no doubt drawn inspiration from them. Was this the biggest crowd you have performed in front of? How did that feel? It was definitely one of the biggest we’ve played to. It was an amazing and reinvigorating experience, as it is when you play to any crowds of that magnitude.

How were your nerves before you played to a crowd like that? The crowd were pretty wild. My nerves were fine; I’m not one to ever get nervous before a show. I know a few of the other guys had to pinch themselves a few times though ha. I know that Zack came out with the crowd and watched your set as he stood just in front of me. Did he have a chat to you about your performance and offer any advice? Not really the guys were chauffeured around quite extensively by their management, so our contact was limited at best. Although we did have Rian come over and tell us how into our band he was, so that was pretty great,

How was it like to work with a huge band like All Time Low? They are great guys, I met them for the first time just before the first concert, great sense of humour! As per the last question, however the guys definitely did go out of their way to always quickly chat each day and introduce themselves. I definitely agree that they are super nice and VERY funny guys. Did they drive you mad with all their pranks? Can you share any funny stories that happened on the tour that you can share? We only did the 3 Melbourne shows, but the guys did come up with a great merch design suggestion “Built On (Ryan) Seacrest”, which we’ve funnily enough had suggested to us in the past ha. I never made it over to your merch table, I already have your singlet( love wearing this!) and albums but would of liked to have met you again, how did your merch sell? What is the link to your merch store for our readers to check out? Well aren’t you just awesome already having all of the above! We actually did really well and definitely exceeded our initial expectations with our merch at all the shows, the underage show especially! Check it out What is next for Built on Secrets? Any plans you can share with us? Well we are going back out on the road again in November with a band from the US called Dance Gavin Dance, which should be a blast and then we will probably hunker down for a little while and start up the writing process for album no. 2! Maybe even try and organize a headline run in between.

Guys seriously do your self a favour and check this band out. Their song. Second best is a song written with a similar message to SP’s Perfect. Check out the lyric video here.

Quoting All Year Round facebook page....“Opening for ALL TIME LOW last night was something we will never forget. Thanks for answering some questions for me. I met and saw All Time Low In Melbourne and had a fantastic time. Wish I had the time to drive over to Adelaide to catch your concert as well! The more I research about you the more I like your sound! How did it come about you supporting ATL? We saw that All Time Low announced a tour so we asked our booking agent at the time to apply for the local support and a few weeks later we received an email from Soundwave Touring asking if we were free on the 3rd of September! We were completely speechless. On your Facebook page it says it was a dream come true, now this dream is done and dusted, who would you like to support next? Well, next on our bucket list is definitely Fall Out Boy and Simple Plan. We would love to have the opportunity to play with either of those bands! Has ATL been your inspiration behind your music? What other bands have influenced you? Even before we started the band we all listened to All Time Low in high school. They are a huge reason why we got into pop punk in the first place. We are all influenced by different artists, so we all bring different ideas to the table when we write. Paul is influenced by Taylor Swift and Asking Alexandria, George by Mayday Parade and Pierce the Veil, Jackie by The Maine and The Wonder Years, Josh listens to hardcore bands like Amaranthine and Like Moths to Flames and Luke listens to Last Years Hero. Mutually we are influenced by bands like Fall Out Boy and Simple Plan. I read in a review in SF Media that you did not seem nervous at all, was this true? I think we were more excited than nervous. Just before we went on our hearts were racing pretty fast and the butterflies hit, but once we got on stage we had our game faces on and before we knew it, it was over!

Was this the biggest crowd you have played in front of? No not the biggest crowd but definitely one of the most fun and beneficial shows we have ever played. Can you tell us any funny stories that you have from backstage? We were meant to be on stage at 7:30 on the night and we were all standing back stage ready to go but our drummer George got really nervous and didn’t want to go on stage, we basically had to force him out! What was one thing that you learnt from supporting ATL? It made it so clear for us all that this is what we want to do for the rest of our lives and that we just need to keep our eyes on the prize and stay focused on our future. Did the guys from ATL give you any advice that you can take with you to help you grow as a band? After our set Jack and Alex said they really liked our songs and enjoyed our set. Rian also talked to us about how All Time Low started and how we just have to keep playing shows to crowds who are interested in the kind of music we play. Pictures by Inside Edge Photography. David and Seb at Full Frontal Click here ATL.cz: We know you’re friends with Simple Plan and Time Bomb was originally their song. Did you change it a lot? Jack: Yeah, we definitely changed it, just because we wanted to make it an All Time Low song. But it was kind of like an honor to the band that we grew up listening to and the fact that we kind of got to work with them was pretty awesome Click here to see this. At ATL concert Jack Barakat: “We have to shout out our friends who are here – Simple Plan! They fucking took us on our first massive Canadian tour and really exposed us to a lot of fans, so thank you!” Alex Gaskarth: “I actually meant to say the song that we played before we walked up stage – I fucking wrote that song with those dudes! I owe them for that dance party we just had together! And you owe them for all the fucking herpes that you have in Canada… I don’t know if you owe them but they are to blame. They single-handedly gave everyone herpes.” Watch it here.

Alex's interview for "Property of Zack" back in 2011. Int: Are you looking forward to the Simple Plan run since it’s a support tour? Alex: Yeah, tell me about it. It’s been fucking impossible to get support tours. We’re in a strange place right now where there aren’t a whole lot of bands where it makes sense for us to support I guess. We’re super excited about it though. Simple Plan are rad dudes. It’s another band that is making a comeback right now, and they put out a great record. Canada is their home too, so I think the tour is going to be absurd. Alex talking about Simple Plan for Alternative Press “I feel a very genuine vibe from them. They’re just in it to have a good time. There are definitely bands that came up with them that took themselves too seriously. I think once you do that, you start making records that aren’t you. Simple Plan were never bitter about new bands coming up and trying to take what they had. Nothing ever threw them off.” Simple Plan at the Kerrang Awards 2011 (where they hanged out with All Time Low and Pierre presented the awards for the best live act to All Time Low) Watch this here.

Alex and Jack from All Time Low for Buzznet Alex: Actually the song Time Bomb has a pretty cool story. It was a song that Simple Plan – well Chuck and Pierre from Simple Plan were originally coming up with Matt Squire, at the same time that I was writing with Matt Squire – like the same week. You know I would be there from 1 to 3 and they would be there 4 to 6. And basically what happened is that I guess they hit some kind of a wall. And Squire was like “Check this song out! Maybe you’ll like it. Maybe you’d relate to it.” And so I listened to it and kind of changed it around. And then we wrote some stuff and it actually ended up working better for us than it did for them, so they were like “You know what? This is an All Time Low song. And that’s the problem, it’s not a Simple Plan song.” So we ended up using the song for ourselves. And I’m stoked ’cause it was a really cool opportunity to write with Chuck and Pierre. Jack: “They are like the nicest dudes in the world. And they speak French.” Alex: “Which is hot!” Jack: “Which is the language of love and sex.” Alex: “And I actually got to… I don’t know if they’ve announced it yet, but I got to do a little something on their record too, so that’s cool.” Check it out here. ME LOW

r 2013 Reviews

Sydney ATL Review I’m gonna start this by *pulls up shield* the All Time Low concert was better than Simple Plan’s ONLY A BIT, but maybe that because I was in mosh for All Time Low...... But then again, I did meet Simple Plan. Hmmmm I need to think about it more, but that’s where I’m at right now. On the last Friday of August my awesome mum, my two brothers and I, along with some great new friends, walked up to the early entry line for All Time Low with great pride and thankfulness. After waiting for at least HALF AN HOUR! We were finally let in after the meet and greet was done. The first place we all went to was merch (as most people do) where I got my snap back (which I later got signed) and much overpriced wrist band.

We did have plans to go up on the balcony, which was not my first choice cause I really wanted to go mosh, and my wish came true when we were told that balcony was 18+ only. So, I ran to was mosh. Because the number at the M&G was fairly large I didn’t get where I wanted but where I was, was awesome, I got front row in front of the speakers on Zack’s side (bass). From where I was I could watch the guys from Swing From A Streetlight come on and they were so much better than I expected. They reminded me a lot of Nine Sons Of Dan. I loved their song Last Night, I think that was the kind of song that could launch a career and get them on the road to fame. I do really wish I had known some of their songs beforehand so I didn’t stand there awkwardly ha-ha. Once SFSL had finished their set it was a 15-20 minute wait for All Time Low, I think that was good because some people where jamming pretty hard to SFSL. When ATL came on it got hectic really fast. Everyone was jumping around and having a great time and by the time Alex played Remembering Sunday I think everybody was happy just to have a few minutes to build up some energy to finish up the concert, which I think everyone in the mosh did nicely. Once the show was finished (which I don’t think there was a single person that wanted it to end) everyone slowly started to exit the venue. While we were waiting for a taxi we all heard about 60 girls scream, we turned to find Jack (lead guitar) coming down some steps to sign things for people. We got there close to last which was kind of a bummer but then these really nice people saw our family and helped us get our things signed. We got 2 tickets signed and I got my Snap back signed and about five or so minutes later Jack was marched off to their awaiting car. A minutes later the band left the venue with some difficulty as fans were blocking the door. Finally, they got in a van to go back to the hotel they were at and for us (well, for my brothers and I as my mum was seeing them again the next night), our night with ATL was over. What a night to remember and one of the best concerts and experience of my life so far.

Aryan .....I thought it was awesome. I liked when they played Lost in Stereo. I danced a lot to that. Xander ..... It was a great experience seeing ATL live in Sydney. It made the early mornings, and the hours of travel just getting there so worth it. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. I really liked how they went from Remembering Sunday into Therapy, and was really surprised when they started playing American Idiot. I also really liked the support band, Swing from A Streetlight. @xand2809

ALL TIME LOW Sydney Upon arriving the Roundhouse, the place where pop punk band "All Time Low" were preparing to rock the place to it's core, I was faced with 100Metre+ line up of young teen girls and the odd male. So I joined the queue and was shortly joined by a great friend of mine Suki. We waited patiently since 4pm, during which time we were given a impromptu acoustic performance by Masketta Fall, which turned out to be an a very tasty entrĂŠe to what was about to explode on the inside. Thanks to Leeann, myself and Suki were allowed an early entry, whilst myself, Suki and Leeann's son quickly raced to grab a front row view, the rest of the group grabbed prime position at the back behind the sound engineer, a view that was much better than what we encounted from the side at the front. After a great show by support act "Swing from A Streetlight", ATL was raring to up the ante with their only Sydney sold-out show. Cue the opening track "Lost In Stereo", suddenly the crowd became lost in the sounds as the boys jumped and rocked the stage, giving Sydney an "ALL TIME HIGH". The crowd was taken on a ride with track after track from their 5 albums, 17 songs in total, with the majority coming from their latest album "Don't Panic". Luckily the boys included "Time Bomb" in the setlist, a song penned by our very own "Chuck and Pierre", which was clearly a highlight for me. Other highlights include the acoustic "Remembering Sunday", "Somewhere In Neverland", "If These Sheet Were The States" and the show encore of "Weightless". At one point midway through the show I was left standing in the mosh with a dumb puzzled look on my face, as the crowd began to chant something I had "no idea" (pardon the pun) nor clue about what they were saying...."Tits Out For The Boys"...the boys were hearing "Tit's Out Voldemort"...with it still not making any sense to me. Apparently I only recently found out it was a Harry Potter-style chant. All in all the show rocked and everyone in the crowd sung and moshed with the boys, giving us a night to remember for the rest of our lives. But sadly like the saying goes "All good things must come to an end!".

ALL TIME LOW MELBOURNE Since All Time Low announced at SW that they would be coming back to Australia in September Leeann and I were looking forward to seeing them if we could make it work. I knew I would but Leeann lives in the country far far away. Yes, at times it feels like I live in the middle of know where. And now that Jen has made the trek to come visit me, she knows first hand how much of a long and boring trek it is. When tickets went on sale we were disappointed that the Melbourne concerts were split in two, an over 18 and under 18. We would later find out that under 18 meant 14-17 years old. I am sure that my kids were happy as they did not have to go with me! It did mean that Leeann’s kids could not go to Melbourne. As a mum, you never want to see your kids upset, and to have them in tears thinking they were going to miss out on seeing ATL again, well, I made the decision to take my kids to Sydney. After all, it was only a little 1300km from our home. So moving on, Leeann and I got our tickets and nervously waited for The Hustler club to announce if they were having a meet and greet. Once I sorted out all my dramas with Hustler club that is. Finally they did and we signed up. Luckily we were chosen for our concert WOOOOHOOOOO and Emma for hers the next day. Sadly, my kids missed out on M&G in Sydney, but we did get early entry.

So finally the day arrived. It was not the most relaxing day to lead into the concert, You’re telling me, I was up at stupid o’clock to catch a flight back to Melbourne it was a pretty busy day but once we got on the train with a few drinks to help us on the journey to head into Melbourne we were able to relax. A short train ride later we arrived at the venue. As usual the line for the show was huge but as we knew that we had early entry we kinda just joined in with people that we had meet before. That you had met before, remember, I’m from the bush, and know no one in the city. We waited for what felt like forever until we were allowed to go in. We were told to wait in single file up the stairwell and why we were there we got someone to grab us the promo posters. ☺ Yes, we corrupted the younger ones to grab them for us lol Then we were allowed in. Matt gave us the talk about the do’s and don’ts of the M&G, emphasising that we should check that phones and cameras are on camera mode and not video. Do you remember that part of the briefing Jen??? This meet and greet was not the most organised, the band members came out and stood in four corners and we just ran up to them. Yes, we did. While everyone else was still in shock seeing the guys just walk out, Jen and I ran straight to Alex We got to Alex first, as the others were pretty shy. And shy I am not! I got a great pic of me kissing Alex on the cheek Yes, you still owe me for taking that shot. As Leeann was shaking with excitement my other photo was blurred. No, it was just that the first was perfect, I didn’t need to take a second We then met Jack and told him the story of the tee that Leeann was getting signed but I will let her tell you that. Jen must have been a little star struck as I told that story to Alex, not Jack. When don’t panic was released for presale, I couldn’t decide between 2 shirts, so asked Jen to choose as we were buying together and splitting the postage. Anyways, Jen picked the grey hair shirt. To cut a long story short, I’m not the most flat chested of a woman, so whenever I put the shirt on, it made my boobs look like they were wearing wigs. When I explained this to Alex, he just looked at me and said “Oh, we didn’t really think that one thru did we?” Now, talking about Jack, especially after Jen’s comments regarding my photography skills while photographing her and Alex, maybe she should explain what happened when she took a pic of Jack and myself?? Next was Zack ZACKKKKK sorry, got a little side tracked for a sec then Rian. We then went back to them twice as most of the others were hanging around Alex and Jack. I remember telling Zach he looked lonely and thought he needed another hug lol I was lucky as my fave is Rian (I seem to have a drummer theme going on) Which left the rest of the band for ME

We then went up to the merch stand and paid way too much money for everything. I didn’t really see you complaining at the time Nice merch though. I’m glad we decided on the pullovers. We then grabbed a drink and headed to the best spot that we could find. This was next to a bar. Not ‘THE BAR’ tho so I could hold on while I jumped up and down. This was next to Move On Be Strong, so Leeann could get her photo taken with them, as she missed out last time we saw them. Yes, I admit, I had a little fan girl moment over MOBS. But I can when my kids aren’t around to be embarrassed with my actions. Built on Secrets were the support band, I had seen them before. If you read this magazine in order of pages you would of heard about them already. They played a solid set to an audience that did not know them that well. I did not know them at all, but must say, they were pretty awesome. I enjoyed seeing them live once again. It was nice to see Zack come out and watch them on stage. He was wearing a baseball cap and not many people around knew that it was him. Well, we did, and the fan boys behind us did too. Remember, I had to send them thru the pics of them standing next to Zach (even tho it was a back shot) so they could show their friends. Then after the long wait All Time Low hit the stage with a force. The crowd just went mad when they kicked it off with Lost in Stereo. The rest of the songs are a bit of a blur for me except Time Bomb as yep that is my second fav song after Weightless. OMG, I loved Weightless that night, having members of the crowd come up on stage and do shots (this was an over 18, (the legal drinking age in Australia)show before jumping off the stage and crowd surfing was AWESOME!!! Although, we had all been given the lecture from Alex about not dropping anyone. Part of me wishes I was closer to the stage and could have been picked, but I’m not the smallest of woman, so think the others attending are glad I was further back. I got really tired after this concert. You were tired??? How about me?? It is all a bit of a blur, I do remember the bouncer coming into the ladies and yelling to us to get out and me screaming I am just doing my jeans up! I still can’t believe they only had one exit. Then we had a bit of a wait sitting on a bench on the corner snuggled in our new ATL pullovers as it was now so cold outside, especially after being packed inside with all the other jumping fans until Martin came to pick us up. Yes, thank you Martin for looking after my kids while Jen and kissed band members and run a bit of amok ;) I think you are an amazing mum to your kids and they should thank you a million billion times everyday! Martin is also a great “Uncle” to your kids so I will thank him! ( I always have to have the last word! hahaha )

Elenore :I saw All Time Low on Sunday, September 1st at the under 18 concert. It was such an amazing performance, it was my first time seeing them live and I was waiting for months. Words can't really explain how the concert made me feel, I've liked All Time Low for ages and seeing them for the first time was so great. The concert exceeded my expectations, the support band was amazing, every song by both bands were played with such energy and they were so great. Singing along to every song, Masketta fall performing on bins in the alley way while we waited in line, meeting the support band 'built on secrets' and getting their signatures, Seeing Jack hilariously dancing, Alex doing his 'derp' face, Rian laughing at Jack and Alex's jokes and Zack lip singing along to every song were just the little things that made the concert brilliant. It was everything I expected and more! i'd do almost anything to see them again. They have given me one of the greatest memories that I have and I won't forget that day for a long time. @SP_Meg I saw them 3 weeks ago! Their concerts are absolutely brilliant! Always a new, fun and awesome experience each show :)

This isn’t Keek, but a funny clip from the Sydney concert. Think something was lost in translation lmao ATL couldn’t understand what the crowd were singing, it was ‘tits out for the boys’, but somehow ended up being ‘tits out Voldemort’ Also the guys did an ep of Full Frontal while in Oz (available on iTunes)

Since heading off to Asia in the middle of last month, by the end of September, ATL would have played around 25 shows, in 7 different countries, and rocked them all. Here’s a list of their concerts over the last few weeks. A) B) C) D) E) F) G) H)

Septem September 11th - It has been confirmed today, that on October 3rd, Simple Plan will be performing at this year’s MTV world stage event in Monterrey Mexico alongside Fall Out Ball. The concert will be filmed and broadcast to over 150 countries on MTV on October 18th. September 17th – Today marks the 34th birthday of writer, drummer and all round good guy, Chuck Comeau. We all hope that you had a wonderful day. Happy Birthday Chuck.

September 17th – Jeff Stinco has lent his name to an ad campaign on behalf of Le Support, (formerly known as the Quebec Foundation for Intellectual Disabilities (FQDI) The campaign which aims to encourage people to donate their clothing and household goods depicts the clothing of prominent Quebecian’s laying on the ground as if they have just been stripped off.

Written by Leeann @adnaxar

mber September 18th – Chuck has also assisted in an ad campaign, this one in the form of La Presse’s new app La Press+ and features Chuck’s quote “I admit that it was my father who made me discover it”. Other personalities featured in the campaign include Penelope McQuade and Pierre Lapointe. Watch it here September 18th – It may have been around 7am in Canada, but Sebastian was up and on the air on Australian radio. In the 12 minute interview, Seb chatted with Larry Heath from The AU Review not only about the upcoming warped tour, but also his work producing Andee Leclerc’s album, the upcoming Mexico concert as well as the bands current writing process. Check it out here.

September 19th – Today, Jeff was again present at this year’s annual GRIS Montreal (an organisation that aims to help demystifying homosexuality and developing self-esteem among young people who are questioning their sexuality) conference representing the Simple Plan Foundation. For the fourth year in a row, foundation presented a $2000 scholarship to local schools with Letendre Laval High School being this year’s recipient.

September 24th – Today Chuck tweeted the news that all fans have been waiting to hear, the guys are back in the studio and recording. The EP which should feature 5-7 songs is set to be released late 2013, early 2014. I, like so many other fans, can’t wait.

twitter talk........

Sebastien – Simple Plan may have been enjoying a little R&R, but it doesn’t look like the same could be said for Seb this month. He had demo’s to listen to as they tried to work out where they were and where they were going on some of the production work he is doing, and not to mention, listening to himself be awesome and funny on MOTH. (Not to mention admiring that sexy beard he’s got growing on his face) Seb must have also been checking out what we were all saying on twitter too, admitting that some of the full conversations we have on there are...... INTERESTING??? Seb was up bright and early to chat on Aussie radio about there inclusion in the upcoming Warped Tour (We can’t wait for Warped either Seb) before heading off to NYC, where close up selfies followed before a night of hotdogs and baseball. Today was a good day. David – For the second month in a row, David has been MIA on twitter. Oh where Oh where are you David??

Pierre – Just when I thought Pierre’s was starting to follow in David’s footsteps, he tweets and lets us know what he’s been up to this month. Yes, after 34 years, Pierre finally grew his first legitimate beard this month. Way to go Pierre. lol

Jeff – Well, it looks like I’m not the only one who can’t wait for the 50 shades movie to come, out, but I think Jeff and I have very different reason tho. Jeff admits to going a little ‘record crazy’ during his time off, and has the iTunes bill to prove it. But says it was worth it. As was being able to just chill out at home. Jeff tried to put a bout of the flu on hold to represent the Simple Plan foundation. But then it was back home for a night of back to the future with his little ones. Being preoccupied with his new project, Jeff found music still helped him disconnect and relax, and even tho towards the end of the month he was as sick as a dog, he still kept smiling. Hope you get well soon Jeff xx

Chuck – Chuck kicked off September by checking out the Tegan and Sara show at the Greek. Before heading to Dodgers Stadium, Chuck took the opportunity to wish long time buddy Pat a Happy Birthday. But Pat wasn’t the only one celebrating their birthday this month. In fact September would hold two more special birthdays for Chuck. Not only was it his mum’s birthday, but also his own. Happy birthday Chuck from all of us at SP Space.

Hail to the King Review Anticipation fulfilled......... This statement perfectly sums up my thoughts on Avenged Sevenfold’s latest release. Hail to the King, named innocently by M Shadows for a moment with his new son, can almost be called a tribute to hard rock of yesteryear. With tracks that echo the sounds of Metallica, ACDC, Guns and Roses and Iron Maiden (to name a few of their influences) you would be forgiven for thinking that they’ve travelled back in time. Except that the songs still have the distinct ring of A7X to them. That A7X-factor that no other band has. Before I bore you with how amazing this album is, let me talk a little about the lead up to it. The band started teasing the fan base through the design of their website. They (most likely Zacky Vengeance) created “Tholomew” the Avenged Sevenfold radio and The Seventh Lair which they then started to release sound bites from the studio, not all to do with the new album. They did eventually release a tease video of the fifth track Requiem which I absolutely loved. Chanting Latin choir and M Shadows strong vocals…but we’ll get to that. Then a week before the album was released, iTunes streamed the whole album for free. I listened to it twice through after I pre-ordered it. Anyway, after listening to it countless times I can now share my thoughts, track by track, of the songs on this album. Please enjoy this journey with me. Shepherd of Fire: this is the opener. The guys have said in countless interviews that they deliberately set out to write it to be the opening track. And it works well. It opens with space filled with what sounds like a church bell tolling, then a simple guitar riff that then is built upon by new drummer Arin’s simple yet powerful drum beats The lyrics that start off even hint at a beginning, Let’s take a moment and break the ice... Hail to the King: Many would say this is the weakest song on the album. Too safe and clean. But, I think it was the perfect track to be released as their first single. A taste of what was to come. It is a radio friendly song, if you could call any of Avenged’s songs radio friendly. Right off the bat you can tell the direction the guys’ wanted to go, simple drum beats, and M Shadows’ clear and strong vocals. They have created a music video for this song which is inspired by Game of Thrones that M Shadows said he has gotten into watching and reading. As Zacky V stated in an interview, the King mentioned in the song, is the King.

Doing Time: the “explicit” track on the album. It took some time for me to get into this song, it is my least favourite track. However, it deserves its spot on the album, a good segue between Hail to the King and This Means War. The laugh at the start, though. M Shadows' signature evil laughter I love that. This Means War: The intro to this track tricks you into thinking it will be one thing, but then shifts into an entirely different gear as it lets you know that this is in the vein of classic metal. It is very Metallica in its sound and sounds similar to Sad But True by that same band. I love Matt's vocals in this song and it ties as my favourite track on the album. Requiem: This song was the tease video I mentioned earlier. The Latin chanting and Matt's raw vocals set this song apart from the rest. It's almost like a prayer, a vicious, emotional prayer. I absolutely love it. The instruments don't overpower it and Syn's guitar solo is not overpowering. This track ties as favourite. Crimson Day:

This is a love song, a ballad. Filled with hope.

Heretic: reminds me of earlier Avenged works. It's punchy and to the point. As with some of the other songs it has a religious theme to the lyrics, speaking of witch hunts and heretics. Coming Home: This song is a journey. It seems to be telling of a soldier coming home from war. I read somewhere that it almost seems to be the tale of the Odyssey in song. The melodies in this track are beautiful and once again Matt’s vocals convey the emotions of the song throughout. Planets: took time for me to warm to this one. It has a Star Wars vibe to it, and I can’t really describe it Other than it sounds like what the lyrics describe, a galactic battle.

Coming Home: This song is a journey. It seems to be telling of a soldier coming home from war. I read somewhere that it almost seems to be the tale of the Odyssey in song. The melodies in this track are beautiful and once again Matt's vocals convey the emotions of the song throughout. Planets: took time for me to warm to this one. It has a Star Wars vibe to it, and I can't really describe it Other than it sounds like what the lyrics describe, a galactic battle. Acid Rain: reminds me of that one Beatles song, While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The sweeping guitars and the mellow tones of M Shadows’ vocals takes you on an emotional journey. The piano at the start is reminiscent of Elton John, showing once again how diverse the band's influences are. This song is an apocalyptic love song, speaking of endings and Bonus Track, St James: The fact this track starts with the sounds of drinks being poured, and what sounds like background noises in a bar is fitting. It was something the guys in A7X used to do a lot. Drink together and have good times. This song, is a light-hearted tribute to their fallen brother, Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan. The tone of the song is such that it doesn’t fit on the album, and hence why it is the bonus track on the Deluxe Edition. And, so in summary, this album is beautiful showcase of what A7X is capable of. For music lovers who are fans of classic metal and for diehard A7X fans this is an album that will be on rotation for a long time. Best: This Means War, Requiem, Acid Rain Try if you're a Metallica fan. Avenged Sevenfold is: M Shadows/Matthew Charles Sanders - frontman Synyster Gates/Brian Haner Jr - lead guitar/backing vocals Zacky Vengeance/Zachary Baker - rhythm guitar/backing vocals Johnny Christ/Jonathan Seward - Bass Arin Ilejay - Drums In memory of their fallen brother - The Rev

Their first EP demonstrates why SFASL are different in a good way to other bands. My favourite song on the EP “It’s Alive” and this song is a song is that you would expect from a 21st century upcoming band. This EP has 5 songs and one bonus track on it and was released this year. Each song has an individual sound. 1 “It’s Alive” this song is just the most perfect first song for a EP as it’s the first song people will listen to. It also reflects the way they play live. The way it starts it makes you think if it’s going to be like this the whole song then it just flips for the better making it a song to remember. 2. . “Forecast Happiness” I had one thing I had to say first, there was a bass solo at the start that I swear I’ve heard before but that didn’t really worry me, once again this song had a very different sound to the last song it seemed a little more I had a really quick resemblances to blink-182 but only for about a second or two. I think the main concept of this song is like resembling happiness to whether how you can never be sure about it. 3. “Decisions, Decisions” now this song really speaks to me in a way of its meaning, I think the meaning is that where different and you can’t change us this reflected from the lyrics 4. “Attila the Disco Killer” well I may have been wrong is what thought at first cause it sounded a lot like “Forecast Happiness” but then BAM! It was very, very different; I LOVED THE GUITAR IN THIS SONG!!!! It was so good, another perfect song and another from this band on its way to greatness. 5. “Something in the Water” this is one of the very few songs of the WHOLE concert I remember just because of the guitar in this song. I’ve never heard it before and I was looking for trumpet player but it was the guitar. 6. (Bonus track) “Help” This song has got its own sound really, really different than the others, to me it says that I love you but I hate you about 50-50 of the time. Written about someone that means a lot to you I enjoyed seeing this band live and I now love listening to this EP. They are good song writers and in my opinion they have what it takes to make it big.

BOWLING FOR SOUP

BFS decided to write a new album a little differently this time. They decided to do a ‘Pledge’, which was awesome for fans. Fans had the opportunity to pay either a small amount for the Album and tshirt to a substantial amount to get to sing on the album or be in a film clip. This was great for fans as I was going to buy the album anyway but this way I got updates along the way, was asked my opinion on designs and titles and lots more. Awesome way to let fans help out and feel part of the album. I love this album. I have now changed my fav song so many times. Of course I really love track 4 as it mentions Simple Plan! However that is not my fav but comes pretty close. In this strange world that we are all trying to fit in somewhere and worry about how others perceive us, I will go through the songs that are my favourite in order that I like them the best now. This prob will change tomorrow! So track 7 called “I am waking up today” means the most to me at the moment. I love the catchy beat as well as the meaning. My fav lyrics are. What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you living how you wanna be? I'm gonna face the day with eyes wide open. Track 3 “Real” is my favourite feel good song of this album, it is really catchy and I can relate to the lyrics really well. I love any song that has the meaning that we can be ourselves and not change for anyone. “I never said I was perfect Who the hell wants perfect anyway? Sometimes I really f*ck up But baby I learn from my mistakes And I don’t know what I'm supposed to be All that I ever am is me And I'll never gonna change, here's the deal I'm just tryin' to be real, real, real”

From the’ Roof Tops’ is the song that mentions dressing like Simple Plan. This a song about being in love with the wrong person, it tells us to follow your heart and not worry about what others think. I like that message. I am wondering if anyone else is having trouble singing the lyrics to this song as it is so fast. I am almost singing along, but not quite. My fav part is of course is the following lyrics I rock all black and she can't stand That I'm dressed like the dudes in Simple Plan She's all wrong, but it's alright She can be all wrong right by my side! Official Lyric video you can see here Track One left me wondering if it was for real. I think it is a song of a frustrated person that is picking a fight and wants make fun of the world. I love the humour that BFS puts into their songs, adding in comments like “Show off those Drum lessons Gary….. That’s my Gary! My fav lyrics from this “We’re not here to change the world we are here to laugh at others and maybe get a nap along the way” This light hearted song could make the person that is out to change the world just because they can sit back and laugh at themselves. I think track two most people can relate to if they have had a relationship breakup. The song basically tells us that the break up made the Jaret happier as for example he never has to wash his sheets. And has money in his cheque account. However I wonder if he protests too much and he does actually miss her. The more I listen to it that more I think this. The other songs are great as well. I enjoy singing along to them all in the car and screaming the lyrics when no one is with me. Taking a vacation and talking about being in a circle of friends is amongst the themes. Do yourself a favour and take a listen, you can purchase it here.

Name : Meltem OLKUN Where do you live?: İstanbul, Turkey When was the first time you heard about Simple Plan? In early September 2011, MCM Top songs were rocking my home and I was trying to get ready for school. I wanted to turn off the TV, but suddenly Jet Lag appeared on the TV. I was very intrigued. After I had listened to this song, I went out and –of course- I missed the bus so I was late but SP was worth it! It was like Jet Lag was playing in my brain all day. At the end of the day I searched some information about Simple Plan and I told myself: “I must be a fan of this band.” That’s how I become an Astronaut!

Q: When was your first SP show? A: I’ve never gone to a SP concert because they haven’t came here yet. ☹ Q: For how long have you been a SP fan? A: 2 years! Q: How many times have you seen them live? A: Never. ☹

Q: What song would you like Simple Plan to cover? A: “When I come Around” by Green Day

Q: Okay, now pick a SP song that means the most to you and try to explain why. A: “This Song Saved My Life” - The song helped lots of humans. The lyrics has got important and amazing meanings. So this song has an important part of people’s hearts. For me, I was spending difficult days before. I listened the song all day, all time. I looked at the mirror and I said “I’ll be happy. I have to not to care about the people, the world. I have to live my life.” When I was listening the song. So, I was broken, then this song saved my life.

Q: Apart of SP , which other bands do you like? A: Paramore, Green Day, Coldplay, The Beatles, 30STM, Blink 182, Sum 41, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance

Was great to meet you Meltem! Love meeting SP fans from all over the world. We sure do like the same music!

Q: If you could spend a whole day with SP, what would you do? A: I don’t know… Actually I would give them some Turkish foods and then we would to anything that they want! :D Q: Have you made friends thanks to Simple Plan?

A: Of course! I have lots Q: What do you like the of friends, so many I can most about Simple Plan? count! A: Everything! Q: Favorite Simple Plan song and why? A: I love all SP songs. Each of them is important for me but Jet Lag is different. Because I met them with Jet Lag Q: What’s your favorite part of ABPFY? A: All the parts are amazing! All of them is my favourite.

Q: Favorite Simple Plan video? A: Save You

Q: Say what Simple Plan means to you. A: Simple Plan is different. They are impressive Q: If you could say anyfor people with their muthing to Simple Plan right sic, personalities… No now, what would you tell band has ever affected me them? as much as SP has. So, A: That’s really difficult Simple Plan is the most question… I think I’d say incredible band of the “Thank you for saved my world. I don’t want to lose life” them. They are part of my written by Jen life.
