Editors Note: Welcome to the second Edition of Simple Plan SPace. Once again this edition has been written and researched by people with one thing in common, a love for Simple Plan. Our team has grown since the first edition; it has been great to make more friends who love Simple Plan! Simple Plan has inSPired us all in so many ways. Whether they have saved your life or helped you to make it a life worth living, we all owe them our gratitude. Once again I was blown away by the response from the social network sites when it came to requesting fan stories. It is humbling to have such a huge response, and after reading the stories from all over the world I realised how lucky we are to love a band like Simple Plan. The most inspiring lyric for me is from “When I’m Gone.” “Life is what happens while you’re busy making your excuses.” Over the last few years I found that I have just been going through the motions of life rather than actually living it. I made some decisions to improve my life, one being putting this magazine together. I hope that by doing this I can help inSPire you to do things that interest you and that you enjoy on top of the essential things of life. So I hope you enjoy this edition. If you do please SPread the word about it. Feel free to contact us if you have ideas about what you would like us to cover in future editions. Watch out on the first of October our Humanitarian Band Special Edition! Jen Editor @justjenrees SimplePlan Space is in no way affiliated with Simple Plan, Warner Music, Atlantic Records or Coalition Entertainment. This is a magazine made entirely by fans for fans. Simple Plan Space is only available online and always for free. All the content belongs to their respective writers.

get to know the band part two... Written by Karoline Hov. Twitter: KarolineHov1 When Simple Plan had officially become a band they played shows whenever they could to gain fans. In 2001 they joined the Warped Tour and played alongside bands like Sum-41, Good Charlotte and Blink-182. After this they recorded their debut album No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls. On this album they collaborated with both Joel Madden and Mark Hoppus. The album came out when Simple Plan were opening for Sugar Ray on their US-tour. Opening for Sugar Ray

In one year (2002) they played 300 shows and gained fans quickly. They topped the Alternative New Artist Chart and played a sold out tour in Japan. Because of NPNHJB they also took home a 2003 MuchMusic Video Award for People’s Choice Favorite Canadian Group. Later in 2003 they opened for Avril Lavigne on her Try To Shut Me Up-tour and played as a headliner on the Warped Tour. This was memorialized in the comedy slasher film, Punk Rock Holocaust. 4 of the 5 band members were ”killed” in that film. Jeff is ”killed” After a three-month period of writing in Vancouver and then recording it, Simple Plan released their second album, Still Not Getting Any. This album was produced by Bob Rock who has produced famous albums like Metallicas’ Black Album and Bryan Adams’ On a Day Like Today.

This Song Saved My Life Written by Maddie Jane, @MaddieBirkett

These five words mean so much to any Astronaut. This song is one of the only

songs in the world that incorporates fans opinions. Honestly, this song is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. As soon as I hear the first few notes, it sends shivers up my spine. “We decided to write a song about you guys, can you write me how our music has made you feel over the years.” This line of words, tweeted by Chuck triggered so many Astronaut’s hearts within seconds of seeing the tweet. Hundreds of fans tweeted the guys in a split second. Pierre and Chuck were so honoured and touched that they make fans feel that way. They always read fan mail and letters about how they save fans lives, but it never gets old to them, each time just makes them even more dedicated to their fans, even though they are already dedicated 110%

Mark I love this song, it sums up what SP are. All the lines in the verses mean something important, “I want to start by letting you know this, because of you my life has a purpose” The reason Simple Plan decided to write this song is because they have had so many emotional and touching letters over the years and they know that so many fans have troubles and need help getting through and they know that so many fans use Simple Plan songs to get through, so they wanted to recreate it but actually using fans words. ”Because of you my dad and me, are so much closer than we used to be” The original words were “If it wasn’t for your song ‘Perfect’, my father and I wouldn’t be as close are we are” Chuck actually felt a bit odd using those words but it’s because of how flattered he was to know that it’s true. This is about a fan that became closer to their father because of SP. They help fans in so many ways. Marie ‘It’s a beautiful song with a beautiful meaning. Some of Simple Plan’s songs have helped me a lot in my life.’

If you’re a fan, not just of SP, but of any band or artist, you know how special it is when they come out and just chat to fans like their long lost friends, you always feel special with them. So if you’re a Simple Plan fan, you know just how amazing it is that they actually care so much about fans to do everything they do, including this song. One thing that originates Simple Plan from other bands is how much they love their fans, it’s not just an act to become popular and get money, they truly care. Not only did they write this song for fans, but they wrote it with fans. That’s what makes it 50 times more special, fans had a say and therefore they had to like it! If you don’t, you must not like songs with feeling. Some fans were even lucky enough to go to the studio with the guys and sing in the chorus, as you hear on the track. Jen ‘It is a good song. Probably the song that has helped me the most is Perfect, Music can change people’s lives.

Rebecka “The world. Everything. Living. Not being alone. Finding hope. Strength. Me. Help. Love. Caring. Not dead!!” #TSSML

This Song Saved My Life isn’t like any other song; it’s magical, wonderful and pretty much Pierrefect! Plus it’s just not like any song you hear on the radio. That’s why a lot of fans really dislike the idea of it possibly becoming a single. Lately, there has been news that This Song Saved My Life might be their next single, it would be great for more of the world to notice Simple Plan for what they do for fans, but there is also quite a lot of fans who think it’s a bad idea, as the song was written for the fans and it’s something that means so much to them and now if they make it a single, the whole world is going to all of a sudden love it and it won’t be just a special connection between the fans and SP, also people aren’t going to really get the meaning of it, they are just going to think that they’re catchy words that fit with the topic, when all those words are from fans about SP. But on the brighter side, it would mean another cover for Simple Plan to sign and a music video! Who knows, fans could even be incorporated in to the video.. Tweet @SimplePlanSpace on your opinion.

Erin “It’s hard to put into words just how much TSSML means to me. All I know is that when I hear it I feel apart of something truly remarkable. I am so proud to call myself an astronaut!”

WE TWEETED,FANS REPLIED We asked, what does TSSML mean to you? Sab This Song Saved My Life is perfectly put together, I know Simple Plan doesn't know I exist, but they care about everyone&Their music has saved my life. I have no idea where I'd be without Simple Plan. What they've done in not only mine, but in everyone's lives is inspirational, simply inspirational. Love them to death.♥ Nick “This song saved my life means that the song means that it gave inspiration to be myself and to fix relationships in my life. “ Mi era rotto mi stava soffocando, questa canzone mi ha salvato la vita.

Becky I love this song. It means so much for us fans who have listened to SP for so many years and teeted them when they asked for ideas. SP songs have changed my life. SEAN, I did not llike this song when I first heard it but then i realized whta it was about then when I heard it was written by tweets from fans I realized how good a song it was.

Én voltam törve fulladás, ez a dal megmentette az életemet. Dave. This song means so much to me, A band asking fans to let them know how they feel and then adding it in to the lyrics of one of their songs is awesome. No other band that I know of has ever done that. I don’t want it to be a single as it is special to the real fans and I don’t want other poeple to know about it, if they love SP they will buy the CD.

Sian “Everything. That’s what TSSML means to me. When it came out I had tons of stuff going on. My grandads chemo was failing, I lost my ‘best friend’, I was on anti-depressants that messed with my head, my family were constantly fighting and yelling at each other over nothing... it was terrible. I couldn’t see anything ever getting any better. I was sick of everything. People telling me I wasn’t good enough, that I was different, that I was ‘emo’ and should just go kill myself, and I couldn’t see things ever getting any better... Then I listened to the song, to the meaning behind it. By the end I had tears streaming down my face because I felt like I could finally relate to something. I wasn’t alone anymore. It helped me overcome a lot and if I hadn’t heard it I don’t even have the slightest clue of what I would be like today or if I would even be here. That’s why TSSML means everything to me. It didn’t just make me feel better after a bad day; it changed, maybe even saved, my life.

Je veux commencer à vous faire savoir ce A cause de toi ma vie a un but Tu m'as aidé à être qui je suis aujourd'hui Je me vois dans chaque mot que vous dites Parfois il se sent comme si personne ne me fait Piégé dans un monde où tout le monde me déteste Il ya tellement de choses que je suis en train de Je ne serais pas ici si ce n'était pas pour vous Kalila it pretty much sums up my feelings towards SP, my dad and i honestly are closer than we used to be because of them & they always make me feel better about well... everything Byl jsem zlomený jsem se dusil, tato píseň mi zachránila život Jodie TSSML has kept me going thru all the bad times l hav been goin thru has a special place in my heart always and forever this is the song l listen too when lm down and depressed with life, Its a pick me up somg Yo estaba roto Me estaba ahogando, esta canción me salvó la vida.

I’m addicted to you… Are you an addict? I bet your immediate answer to this question would be “No!” right? You’re not addicted to anything. At all. You’re completely healthy and don’t have any problems. No, you’re not addicted to something. Well, that’s what you think. The truth is an addiction is not limited to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes or anything like that. An addiction is something that could take over your life. Something you can’t control. That can basically be anything… I mean, how many hours do you usually spend on the internet? Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube… the list of fun internet sites is almost endless and so is the amount of time you could spend on them. Or another example, could you leave the house without your phone in your pocket? Could you? Sure, you might say you need it to stay in contact with your friends and family but is that really it? Of course, sometimes we do need our phones, but could you just leave it behind? Doesn’t the thought of it not being available for a few hours sort of scare you? Or it could be something completely different like caffeine. If you drink coffee, you know what I mean. Once you've started with it, it’s hard, if not impossible, to stop it. One morning without your coffee and you’re lost. Or, girls listen up, shopping! You promised yourself you wouldn’t buy another shirt this week…but the blue one, with the V-Neck… It just looks so good. And, hey, it’s not that expensive. Come on, we have all been in this situation before. You just can’t say no when it comes to sweet dresses and amazing shoes. Does any of this sound familiar? Is there anything in your life you think you possibly couldn’t live without? You probably have caught yourself saying “Gosh, I’m so addicted to…” before, haven’t you? Well, you may have meant it just like that. You can easily get obsessed with something that seems completely harmless at first, but once it has taken control over you, it can actually be dangerous. But out there, are of course young people with seriously dangerous and fatal addictions. Drugs, alcohol, anorexia, self-harming… Compared to these, your little obsession with Facebook may be unhealthy and worrying, but still, it’s highly unlikely that it could kill you. And that’s the point with those ‘real’ addictions. They’re deadly. And that’s basically all you have to know about addictions.

“A life without music would be like a life in black and white.” Jeff

So, I’m not going to focus on the medical consequences or physical troubles that come with addictions. You can find tons of results if you look that up on Google. No, instead I’ll try to make people understand how music can be some kind of help even in such a serious and hopeless situation. Of course, music is not an actual therapy. Music can’t give you advice, music can’t prescribe pills, music can’t look after you to make sure you’re not going to do anything stupid. But still, sometimes it’s some kind of help. It’s something to hold on to. To give you strength, hope, courage and self-confidence. And that is exactly what you need to fight over an addiction. I know stories from people, who have been begoing through hell with their addictions and they all said that music gave them comfort. One of them actually said that whenever she felt like giving in to her addiction again, she listened to one specific song because it kept her from doing it. So, music can help you to get real help. But most bands can’t make you fight over your addiction. Well, Simple Plan can. They care. They know how desperately some young people need help. So, in 2005, they created the Simple Plan Foundation. The guys know about the issues young people have to face, because they’re always in close touch with their fans. The Foundation focuses on teen problems, including drug addictions. This is what they said about creating the Foundation: “We started the Simple Plan Foundation as a way to try to give something back to our community and make a difference. After reading thousands of letters and e-mails from our fans and talking to them at our shows, we know very well how tough life can be for kids growing up. It breaks our hearts to see so many young people fighting to survive while feeling depressed and lost. We want our Foundation to help them find their way and show them that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, that things can get better.” And there’s not much to add here. This shows how much they care about us. And they want to help us. Not just with their music.

They’re heroes. They’re saving lives. Every single day. Sinja Pergande

This Band Saved My Life It’s a bit of an overused phrase, and I’ve

heard it at least 500 times in the past year from various people. But it’s completely true, and music can have a huge impact on people. Music connects, music impacts, and most of all, music saves. Or at least for me, it did. You’ll probably think that this is some stupid & lame sob story, and to a degree it is, but I guess & I hope that it shows you how music and bands can really impact people, including myself and even you. At the beginning of this year, I was in a long-distance relationship. (Note: internet communication is really, really, really not a good idea.) I was with the person for 2 months or so, and in February I decided to break it. My boyfriend at the time decided that the only way to get out of this sad post-breakup thing was to try and kill himself. Which was pretty damn stupid, and it didn’t end up working anyway, which is fortunate. But basically, when someone is about to die because of you and there’s nothing you can do, you make some pretty rash decisions. Having struggled with self-harm for all of 2011, it was the thing I turned to. Trigger warning: I had completely and utterly for lack of a better word, destroyed my arm. I still have some kind of bad scars to this day, but I remember after I had done that I looked at my SP posters and I just thought to myself ‘I can’t f*cking do this anymore’. I swore to myself that from that night on I would never, ever, ever intentionally hurt myself again because I knew that my favorite band would never want me to do that. 7 months later, I’m better than ever and I haven’t done anything since. Every single time I’ve thought I’ve wanted to, I’ve ended up reminding myself of what I swore on that night, and I’ve instantly just gone ‘nope.’ And well, it makes me kind of proud of myself. About a month after this incident, SP had a webchat, and they answered my question, ‘how have you dealt with negative criticism?’ which meant the world to me. They didn’t just answer the question about their own negative criticism, but they went on this rant and spoke about about not taking other people’s crap and negativity because it’s just them projecting what they feel about themselves on to you. That impacted me a hell of a lot, especially because that was in the same time I was going through a huge fallout with a friend who kept sending me hateful and abusive messages (for the main reason that I saw SP with my dad rather than another band with her) It made me realise that it wasn’t me who was being a bad person, it was just her insulting me because of how inferior she felt. That advice has carried with me, despite all the crappy things this one person has done since then. I guess it’s what gets me through, and makes me feel better when I’m down. I guess the point of this article is just to say that if you’re ever going through a tough time, music will always be there for you. Simple Plan will always be there for you, no matter what the problem is. I know that nobody has the exact same story as I do, and a lot of people have had far worse experiences than I’ve had or will probably ever have, and many people have relied on the music of SP and many other bands to help them through their tough times, and you can too. If anyone reading this article is ever feeling down, just remember that your favorite band will always be there for you. If you’re feeling super shitty, you can blast your favorite band’s music, or watch videos of them, or read interviews or articles about them. And if all else fails, you can tweet me (@pierreboobier) or send me a message on tumblr (gayviddesrosiers.tumblr.com) and I’ll do my best to help you, and I’m sure that some of our other writers would be happy to help you. You are never alone, no matter how alone you think you are. By Kalilia

This Edition is based on how Simple Plan inspires people. It was easy to say that I would write this and asked people for input. SP has inspired me to live a full life, so perhaps I would not say that they have saved my life but saved me from a boring uninspiring life. I use SP lyrics and what the guys say in so many aspects of my life. SP influences my parenting, my teaching and my day-to-day decisions. So many of their songs mean so much to me and I have been able to release stress by singing them as well as helping me grieve and heal from losses in my life. Chuck has been the biggest inspiration to me over the years and meeting him and telling him was possibly the best day of my life. Having my husband meet Chuck and them talking about how much his songs have meant to me was awesome. Some ways I use their songs to inspire people: In my Parenting : I have encouraged my kids to follow their dreams and try their best at what they do. I often say to them there is no need to try and be Perfect just be yourself. I am not suggesting that I am the perfect parent as I am not and they are not perfect children but the theme of the song is in my mind. In my Teaching, I use songs like Untitled and Perfect in my health classes, and I treat all kids the same and encourage their dreams. I hope to inspire them and introduce them to SP so they can also inspire them. In this job. I would not be doing this unless I had not heard “When I’m Gone.” The lyrics really inspire me to make something of my life and not waste it. So thanks for all those songs Simple Plan that have inspired me to be the best person I can be.

I met up with Lani of The Never Ever who toured with Simple Plan (see last edition) and asked her hew thoughts on Simple Plan being Inspirational.

written by Jen @justjenrees

Simple Plan have been a huge inspiration for my band and I. The boys gave us some great advice on performing and paying attention to the small details. Watching them every night was amazing, it was such a valuable experience as we were able to watch true professionals doing what they do best. They have proven what hard work and determination can achieve and that’s something that has stuck in my mind. I’ll be doing whatever it takes to live the dream.

How did Simple Plan inspire me? The first answer that pops into my head when asked that question is that they have inspired me to keep on living… That may seem very dramatic, but it’s the truth. I have experienced things in my life that only a few people know about. I have been raped. Again, dramatic. How do you deal with that, when your rapist doesn’t know he’s a rapist? Well, my way was to not tell anyone and drown myself in songs from my favorite bands, one of them being Simple Plan. Simple Plan has helped me through so much in my life, not only the rape. I don’t think I would be here writing this if it wasn’t for Simple Plan, the songs, lyrics and the boys! They have inspired me to be strong and to believe that everything will be fine. I know a lot of people, but I don’t have a lot of friends. I don’t have anyone to talk to about what’s really in my head, but I have Simple Plan. I have their songs and their lyrics, that’s what helps me and that is what keeps me alive, keeps me believe that everything will be fine in the end. I waited 10 years to see Simple Plan live, and this year, on my birthday… My dream came through! I got to take a picture with Chuck and Seb outside their tour bus before the show and that is the best birthday present I could ever ask for! It was the best birthday I’ve ever had and something I will take to my grave! Moments like that is what keeps me alive and inspire me to keep on dreaming, because I now know that if you just keep believing in your dreams, they will come true! I’m a living proof to that…

So the answer to the question, “how did Simple Plan inspire me?” They inspire me by being who they are, by showing that it’s ok to be different and by loving all their fans no matter who they are, what they look like or what issues they’ve got. Simple Plan has inspired me by showing humanity. Here’s my tribute to Simple Plan, thank you for being you! The text says “You’ll miss me when I’m gone” ‎Lena Marie @Lena_TGNOEK

To you, they're just a band. They just play music. But to me, they are the reason that I still breathe. They are the only hope I have when everything has fallen apart. They are the bright light in the otherwise pitch dark. Their message, their music, their lyrics pick me up out of my hopelessness. To you, it may be stupid to cry when you see them live, or when you meet them for the first time. But for me, it's like coming face to face with the hero that saved my life. Go ahead and look at me as an obsessed, crazed fan. Tell me I'm f*&king weird, that I need to get a life. But they will always, always be my heroes. They will always be the band that saved me. SIMPLE PLAN

Source Cuttlefish, thanks! "When I listened to TSSML for the first time, I cried at first cause I found the melody moving. Then, the lyrics were just amazing cause I realized that I wasn't alone, for many fans went through the same difficulties, had the same impressions about their life, other people's opinion and how it's difficult to grow up in our societies. Honestly when I heard that Simple Plan wrote a song by fan's tweets, I told to myself: "Each of us probably has a different opinion about SP's songs." But, I'm very proud of this song which shows that even if we come from other countries with other cultures, we're all the same and we're very close. Simple Plan saved my life with "Crazy" song. Many people made fun of me cause I don't look like the other girls who were popular. I wanted to change my personality, my physical appearance. With Simple Plan I realized that is completely stupid to want to look like all these girls, to think and love the same things as them. Now, I'm proud of who I am. I'm not perfect but I'm myself. Thank you Simple Plan for what you made me, me without knowing it. Pierre, Chuck, Jeff, Seb and David are the best heroes in the universe who saved and will save forever many lives." Nancy @SimpleFanSP Simple Plan mean the world to me, they were there the time no one else was there for me, while nobody else cared about me and just treated me like garbage, I was alone, and then Simple Plan entered my life and just changed it, I didn't feel alone, or like s&*t I felt like well perfect. Simple Plan are my InSPiration SP have been a huge inspiration to me on so many levels. Over the last 10 years their songs have helped me to aspire to be the best person I can be, in all parts of my life. So I will start from the beginning! When I first heard a SP song ten years ago I thought wow! They write lyrics that you can really relate to. So many of their songs when I first heard them I thought cool, this song is about me. The first time I heard Perfect I instantly, thought I wish this song had have been around when I was a teenager. This song reminded me of my teenager struggles to live up to parent expectation’s as well as expectations of my husband throughout my marriage. At this time I did not know that this band would write music that would change my life. In 2002 when SP released No Pads I was a single mum with three children and was pretty lost in life. I was still hurting and felt a lot of resentment towards my ex husband. During this time I also lost my closest friend so when I heard “Meet you there” I immediately identified with it. This song made the loss much easier to bear. “You don’t mean anything “ was brilliant in me singing this loudly to release my feelings. I loved all these songs but the song that I felt SP wrote just for me was “I won’t be there” This was my thought the night before my marriage broke up. I did not want to hurt him but things had gotten so bad that we really could not stand each other. It was like SP had gotten into my head to write this song. Being able to sing this and look back over my life really did help me move on. To this day “I’d do Anything” is still my favourite Song. (or one of!) This album certainly helped me refocus my life. So when SP released SNGA I could not believe that once again they had written songs that I could relate to and that could have been written about my life. I had many people criticize me over the break up of my marriage and choices that I made after it, I felt so good telling them to “Shut up.” I am sure some of you can relate to the tears that poured down my face when I hear Welcome to my life. Not for the first time I thought these guys are brilliant. I still scream “Thank you” at the top of my lungs to release the hurt I felt when my best friend had an affair with my husband, in fact releasing this emotion really helped to move on. I liked Promise but could not really relate to it until now. Then in 2007 I was really struggling to get on with my life, my kids were older and I really needed to get a job, I was procrastinating and yep life was passing me by. When I heard “When I am gone” I decided that this year was the year of change so by December I had got back into my career, started up a sport and had made some new friends. I was like a new person, the old me was gone. I did not make up excuses of why I was living my life to the full but I started living my life to the full. I got a new life all because of one SP song. So once again another SP album that could have been written about my life. Your love is a lie, was sad but I was able to listen to it, identifying with it but not dwelling on the fact that it was true. I was really happy when GYHO was released. Knowing that they had written a song via twitter and that their fans meant so much to them was really nice. I love every song on the album but could not relate to any as much as the other albums. But that was fine! The songs still make me feel great when I listen to them. I guess I am “old school” as Pierre called me in a SC as I had vinyls for him to sign. I can relate to the old songs more than the new. I use the inspiring lyrics of SP songs in my everyday life. Since listening to them, I have become a better person, one not filled with hatred and resentment. I have managed to move on from an abusive smothering marriage where I lost my own identity. I have now got a new career, a caring and loving husband and father to my kids as well as some really close friends who I met simply because we share one passion, love and admiration for SP. I have so much to thank SP for. I wrote all of this in a letter to Chuck and gave it to him when I first met him. Now I have so much more to thank him for, but that can be saved till I meet him again. I don’t know where I would be if it was not for Pierre, Chuck, Jeff, Seb and David. What I do know is my story is not unique. I feel privileged to be part of the SP family. Thanks guys, you helped me to have a life worth living. by Charlie Simple Plan are my rolemodels, they have always shown fans that they should be themselves and to love who they are. They have inspired me to do greater things. I am now, at the age of 14, assistant editor in the coolest magazine ever!! (This magazine) Simple Plan teach us to never lose hope on what we believe in. Without them, I wouldn’t have any confidence at all, I wouldn’t even have the confidence to write a small article for this magazine. They also motivate me to just help everyone. They have their foundation and everything, it just makes me want to start raising money for charities. Simple Plan are amazing. Thank you Simple Plan for what you have done. Maddie

More Sake Por Favor

So if you’ve heard any of Sébastien’s solo work, you’ll know it’s almost a polar opposite to the music he makes with Simple Plan. And if you haven’t heard any of his work, I suggest you stop reading this for a moment and go listen to some of his songs right now. His solo EPs show off a more laidback & less full on side of Seb, with a more acoustic & stripped back sound. All his EP’s have been self-produced in the Man Of The Hour studio in Seb’s house.

Seb’s most recent EP is More Sake Por Favor, which was released in July of 2012. He has said that this record is mostly written about a breakup he went through in 2010, and this EP has a clearly less upbeat and happy sound to it, it’s still great nonetheless. The first song on this is EP, as in true Sébastien style is a short, 1:24 introduction track called L’Histoire, which unlike his first 2 EP intros, has lyrics in it. The second track is the first single & video, My Dear. The video is a Rapunzel/fairy tale-esque animation done by one of his fans, Jacob Drake. The video stars an animated someone who visually could be Seb, but I’m not sure if it is supposed to be him or not. This song is about doing anything he possibly can for his ‘dear’ or love. You can watch the video right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNn3UQ2i8zQ. The third song on this EP is Always, which is a love song about seemingly being together always, and giving your heart to the other person and being with them forever. The next song is Au Secours, which (again, rough translation) is about trying to leave the past behind and calling for help with the memories (I’m not good at French, I’m sorry) and him thinking about how he misses the old stories that he will one day forget. The next song, Mystérieuse is a sadder sounding song, which (yet again, roughly translates) to being about having secrets kept from you, by what I’d assume to be the one he loves/loved. The chorus states “If you want to be with me, you'll have to tell me all, my head and heart can be just one, I will not take this fall.” Which actually lyrically reminded me of the Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ despite being nothing like that song? The second last song on the EP is This Bed, which is a relatively repetitive song about, well, a bed, and sleeping in aforementioned bed. In the main hook, which is just ‘oooooooh’, you can hear some what I believe to be female vocals in the background as well. The final song is ‘I Raise My Glass, which Seb has said is his favorite song on the entire EP. This song has female vocals as well in the chorus, and is about being lied to by someone, and accepting that this relationship he was in was essentially just an act on the other person’s part, and the person eventually leaving. It’s a song about acceptance and realisation, and how he raises his glass to this and how he felt in the end. You can buy this EP right here: http://coalitionent.spinshop. com/details/157392?aId=12178&cId=10231685&highlightColor=%23c9c9c9&offer_name=moresakeporfavor&theme=black&wId=157392 For his first t wo EP’s, Sébastien did what he called ‘Mlogs’ which showed the process of him playing each song on both records. GREEN BAY ACOUSTIC

by NINA

Small acoustic shows are always a way to go if you’re an up and coming artist, but since Simple Plan is a multi-platinum band with a long list of hit songs, an acoustic show is a rare thing to see. That's why Simple Plan's show in Green Bay was such an amazing and unique performance. The boys (Minus Chuck) put on a small acoustic show at WIXX Radio for a group of hard core astronauts of all ages that was also broadcasted online. They rocked out to a short but sweet set list of 5 songs, including Summer Paradise, and old classics like "Id Do anything" and "Addicted" the boys still took time between songs to joke around about celebrity's, including themselves and how even after ten years, they still haven't grown up one bit. David joked about how even though he gave Carly Rae Jepsen his number, she didn't call him back, and they all poked fun at Justin Bieber and his pregnancy scandal. They even make fun of Sean Paul who collaborated with them on their newest single Summer Paradise. The boys said, besides the "Sex on the beach" line, they have no clue what Sean Paul is saying in the bridge of the song! In an interview at Good Day Wisconsin later in the day, the boys stated that the private Green Bay show was a lot of fun to play, but turned into more of a stand-up comedy show instead of a musical performance. Dont worry boys, your sense of humor is what we love most about you. Any true astronaut would be super jealous of anyone who got to go see this once in a life time acoustic show. Even after the show was done the boys still hung around for hours taking pictures and bonding with their darling fans. It could have been because it was unique, or cause it was hilarious, but whatever reason you found absolutely amazing about this show, I think we can all agree that this accousic performance is a Simple Plan show fans will never forget. BALLOON FESTIVAL QUEBEC by NINA

In Celebration of the International Balloon festival in Quebec, Simple Plan put on a crazy outdoor performance on August 16 in Saint-jean-sur-Richelieu at the festival. The boys put on an electric full length performance singing several of their hit songs and slipping in some hilarious jokes between songs to entertain a crowd filled with energetic fans. Maude (AKA @MomoMusiic on twitter) Is a Canadian Astronaut from Quebec who got to go to see the show. When i talked to her and asked her opinion on the show, she only had great things to say about the recent show. "The show in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu was AWESOME like always!" she gushes "But to be honest, I think that was my favorite show of Simple Plan! They’re energetic, entertaining and they showed once again why they are my favorite band of all time!" I think it's easy to say that Simple Plan stole the show, and was easily one of the best performances of the whole festival. Simple Plan has had a great summer filled with shows, they close their summer in Gatineau, Quebec on September 1, before taking a well earned month break before heading to Mexico to play a show in Obrera. What are the most inspiring SP lyrics Part two Jen L Anywhere else but here. Kelly D You’re part of me and i’ll never be the same” and “You helped me be who i am today, i see myself in every word you say” Kelly H “what’s another night all alone, when you’re spending everyday on your own” and “sometimes i feel like you’ve known me forever, you always know how to make me feel better” Anon Take my hand tonight, I promise, we’ll be just fine, just take my hand tonight.

SP inspire us with lyrics and more!

Nerds Unite! What can I say about this? Well firstly; if you haven't seen it, go into the internet and go onto simpleplan.com right now, you have to see this! Once again, the boys of SP are doing their part to get a message across. 'Stop the bullying! We are all nerds in our own way!' I happen to be a nerd about The Fast and The Furious movies, I know pretty much everything about them! When you see the video, we find out many new things about the boys. Pierre is a nerd for cartoons, Seb is a nerd for legos (particularly Star Wars), Chuck is a nerd for Hockey, Jeff is a nerd when it comes to making the best pizza dough (it would help since he's the owner of a restaurant that focuses on Italian foods and pizza!) and to my surprise, David is a nerd for Candles! Of course the video isn't depressing or sad showing how bad bullying is but a positive perspective showing common similarities as to why we shouldn't bully: Because we are all nerds somehow! It's so unfortunate but common, bullying happens on a daily basis everywhere and there is no need for it! There is no reason why we can't all be friends or at least acquaintances, this needs to be stopped before more future generations follow in our footsteps! Luckily SP know how to help. Great job boys, you make us, astronauts proud!

INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES Pierre

“Be yourself and follow your dreams and if people don’t like you, f**k them. They don’t have to be you, you do! So do what you wanna do and don’t change for anyone. Oh and being single isn’t always that bad.”

Jeff

“When you care about something very much, you need to put every single cell of your body in action to make it happen. hope, dream, gratitude”

David

“Do whatever you want to do, and don’t care what people think. If you do, you’ll be miserable.”

“We don’t care if you don’t like us, we’re here for the kids who do, we’re here for them not you.”

Chuck

SEB

“Never give up, cause it took us a long time to get where we are and, we’ve been playing in bands for like 10, 11 years and now its happening. That’s kinda like what we always think. Just because something seems impossible, like it’s not necessarily impossible, it’s not, just go and do it.”

FLASH BACK

Written by Maddie Jane, @MaddieBirkett

It seems like only yesterday when Simple Plan released ‘A Big Package For You’ and of course it seems like a lifetime away until they release their next DVD. A Big Package For You is probably one of the best documentaries I have ever seen and I’m sure there are a lot of fans who agree with me. The guys had inspirational moments (Never losing hope in what they wanted to achieve and look at them now!), to embarrassing moments, with Jeff being filmed in the shower! This was also back when Pat was the photographer and videographer! Pat did a lot for those boys even though they bullied him and gave him a ‘shiner’ (from the DVD, they didn’t really.) We saw all the adventures they went on, all the food they tried and all the places they visited all while they were still starting out. Right from the start we have known what their personalities were like, luckily, they still haven’t really changed, they still joke around like teenagers and of course, all five of them are still best friends. . At the start of the DVD after Seb’s tour, he says “Well that’s all we’ve got to show right now” Although he was a little drunk, what he said was still true, he was talking about sleeping in bunk beds or on the floor because they couldn’t afford anywhere else and now they’re touring the world with four successful albums.

It really shows us that anything is possible and to just never give up. It worked for Simple Plan so it can work for us too. SP never forget how lucky they are, they never let the fame rush to their head, they still thank fans all the time for helping achieve their dream. It just demonstrates to fans that nothing is impossible if you try.
