Life’s Reflections
ames Wesley Hatley was born on November 11, 1933, in Dubbs, Mississippi. His parents are the late Turner “Ted” Hatley and Willie Mae Hatley. He graduated from Walton Chapel High School in Panola County, MS, where he met his sweetheart Morease Harris. They married and made a home together in Memphis, TN, where he was a fixture of the Walker Homes neighborhood. He retired from the Sears Auto Center on Poplar after 42 years of service. He was a genius at fixing cars and almost anything mechanical. He was quick to lend tools, help, or just a listening ear. His kindness and generosity were unmatched. On December 10, 2022, he flew on to heaven to be with his Lord and reunited with his beloved wife, who passed away just five months before him on July 9, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and seven siblings: Earnestine Billington, Robert Lee Hatley, Lillie Marshall, Lucille Hatley, Clifford Hatley, and Johnny Hatley. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters: Jeannette (John) Crenshaw and Jamey Hatley; Grandchildren: Gregory Crenshaw, Quiana Crenshaw, and Hope Crenshaw; and great-grandson Gregory Crenshaw, Jr. He leaves behind one brother, Turner Hatley and four sisters, Lula Onidas, Inez Mabry, Pearlene Gillespie, and Beulah Wilbourn. He leaves behind a deep and beloved branch of St. Louis Hatleys and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
