Life’s Brief Reflections
onathan Green, a beloved and cherished individual, entered this world on August 29, 1951, in Lake Providence, LA. Born to Thomas Green, Sr. and Minnie Tom Banks Green, who were sharecroppers, Jonathan grew up in a humble four-room shack. Despite the challenges, he always brought joy to those around him. Jonathan was the youngest of twelve children, preceded in death by his siblings Richard, Wilson, Nellie, Louis, and Louise, who tragically passed away in early childhood. He was also preceded by his adult siblings Mandy and brother-in-law John Reynolds of Los Angeles, CA. However, he leaves behind a loving family including his sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Sylvester Mosley, and daughter Latrena of Jasper, TX. His brother Thomas (Jerrilyn) Green of Fargo, ND, also mourns his loss. In 1978, Jonathan married the love of his life, Anna Marie Bolstad Green, in Milwaukee, WI, in a beautiful interracial union. Friends and family often marveled at their inseparable bond and the countless hours they spent together. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Olivia Marie Green and Sophia Elizabeth Green. Jonathan’s legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Cannon JoeNathan Juarez, Jaylen Wayne Puttkammer, and Annelise Ginn Puttkammer. Jonathan is survived by his sister, Josie Ray Holloway of Milwaukee, WI; his brother, Jack (Ina) Green of Baton Rouge, LA; and his sister, Minnie (Robert) Ellis of Milwaukee, WI. He held a special place in his heart for his beloved niece and nephew, Deloris (Cleo) Gregory of Milwaukee, WI, and Dennis (Jackie) Green of Richmond, CA. These two were raised alongside him during their formative years. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous adored nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews who will cherish his memory. Jonathan was known for his infectious laughter and his ability to bring joy to others through his jokes and humor. He possessed an unmatched gift for making people feel at ease, and he never met a stranger. He dedicated 25 years of his life to working at Milwaukee County Transit, retiring at the age of 49 with a deep sense of gratitude. In 2009, Jonathan and Anna made the move to Olive Branch, MS, where their daughters soon followed. Despite being the youngest of his twelve siblings, Jonathan became the patriarch of the family, initiating the tradition of annual family reunions held in his backyard in Brown Deer, WI. He took immense pride in seeing the entire family come together. Jonathan was thrilled to witness three of his nephews, Melvin Reynolds of Sacramento, CA; Haralson (Lisa) Green of Houston, TX; and Dominique Watkins, who also joined the Milwaukee County Transit, follow in his footsteps as professional drivers. In 2010, Jonathan and Anna joined NLOM, where he quickly became an integral part of the community. Known for his welcoming nature and booming voice, he loved engaging with fellow church members before and after services. His faith was deep-rooted, and he held immense love and respect for Bishop Kevin, Pastor Linda Willis, and every member of NLOM. Jonathan’s absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. However, we find solace in the belief that we will be reunited with him in heaven. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
