My Beloved Son:
How very special you have always been to me. You were my first born and my first pure and unconditional love. Throughout the years, you have always shown me how much you cared by your kind words, generous deeds and protective demeanor.
I have always been so proud to call you, my son. However, our life has not been without its challenges. There were wonderful times when you made me laugh and other times when you made me cry. These experiences, whether good or bad, only served to strengthen our precious bond as mother and son. Although losing you is so devastating, I am grateful for every moment we shared and for the everlasting memories embedded in my heart. Thank you, God, for the abundant joy of being the mother of Mark Johnson, Jr.
Your Adoring Mother, Tonya Richardson
My Only Son
I will miss the jokes and hip roaring laughter as we worked side by side. Our bond grew stronger by the day and was stronger than anything I’ve known. I will miss ending each day with, “I love you.” I was your dad on earth but now you’re with our Heavenly Father. I can rest assured that I’ll see you again. Until then, “I love you.”
Your Dad, Mark

Life’s Reflections
Mark Anthony Johnson, Jr. was born on Tuesday, November 9, 1993, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mark Anthony Johnson, Sr. and Tonya Richardson. Affectionately known as “Lil Mark,” he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life and was baptized at Christian Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Melvin D. Wade.
Mark was educated within the Memphis/Shelby County School system and was a proud 2012 graduate of Craigmont High School, where he was a member of the track team. After high school, Mark attended the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), where he learned the craft of barbering. Earlier in life, he enjoyed little league football as a Brownsville Road Bronco.
Mark was a dedicated employee of T-Force Freight and traveled extensively with his dad in the moving and storage industry. He had an intense passion for barbering and was an aspiring musical lyricist. He continued all these things until his health no longer permitted them.
Mark departed this life on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie Richardson, Sr. and Patricia Richardson, and great grandmother Martha Johnson.
Mark Anthony Johnson, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories his mom, Tonya Richardson; his dad, Mark Johnson, Sr. (Alicia); brothers, Markise Smith and Tedarius Jones (Pautria); paternal grandmother, Dorothy Johnson; greatgreat aunt, Mary Fernandez, great aunts, Mary Mohead (Osker), Jessie Jones, Suzette Richardson, Sheree Jackson, Mary Ann Miller (Tranza), Gloria Jean Johnson, Mary Ann Miller (Tranza) and Gloria Jean Johnson; great uncle, Gary Bratcher, aunts, Candance Wallace, Kelley Curry, Barbara Aldridge (Chester), Tiffany Johnson, and Brittany Rayborn; uncles, Willie Richardson, Jr., and Julian Johnson, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
May my brother be blessed under the protection of our Lord. He’s now free to roam heaven, speak to his grandparents and other loved ones. I was distraught when I heard of his early passing, but as time goes on I realize that my brother’s soul will be everlasting. May he continue to grow even in the afterlife, because I know when it’s my time to go, we will all be in God’s paradise.
My Brother’s Keeper
Although you are gone, I’ll remember you each and every day. Brother, we shared the same spirit, same laughs, and some of the same ways. We had a bond like no other. We were raised by our mom to always be there for each other. Your absence won’t take away my undying love for you, that I will carry each day. Keep watching over me as you always have, brother. I will continue with carrying the torch and protecting our family and your name.
I am my brother’s keeper!
