Back to the Drawing Board – RBC Looks to Reclaim the Title By Eugene Stewart

RED BANK – The big dogs of girls basketball at the Jersey Shore through the last decade have included the same schools consistently. Red Bank Catholic, Manasquan, Neptune, St. Rose, Saint John Vianney and recently Manchester have won 17 state championships between them. These programs have produced many Division I athletes who have contributed on the collegiate level and a few that have even gone on to the WNBA and overseas contracts.

assists per game. “I’m looking forward to working together as a team to be a lot better than last year.” Carman, at 6-foot-5, is RBC’s post presence and second leading rebounder. She comes into the season averaging 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds. Though still learning the game, she likes to focus on just what she does best and that’s playing with her back to the basket in the post. Providing a solid frontcourt presence is something else she enjoys.

The Caseys of Red Bank Catholic own two of the decade’s Non-Public A titles (2012 and 2017) and it seems like they’re ready to make a run for a third this year.

The 2019-20 regular season opened Dec. 20 at Shore Regional, followed by Dec. 23 against Morristown Beard. The season continues Dec. 27 with game against Long Island Lutheran (NY) in the Diamond State Classic Christmas Tournament in Wilmington, DE

“We’re looking to go much further than we did last year,” said sophomore center/forward Ally Carman. “We lost in the first round of the Shore Conference last year. We’re looking for the Shore Conference title this year,” added 6-foot senior forward/guard Fabienne Eggenschwiler. RBC compiled a record of 19-9 last year, going 9-2 at home, 5-2 on the road and 5-5 in games played on a neutral court. RBC’s season ended with a loss to SJV in the Non-Public A South quarterfinals. By many standards, a final record of 19-9 might make for a successful season. For RBC, this was not the case. The 2018-19 season began with a win over Shore Regional and just a few days later, the Purple Roses came to town and delivered RBC an early season loss, 55-42. Three wins were then interrupted by loss to Rutgers Prep (4330). Two wins later and a trip to Baltimore in the Blue Star Invitational, the Caseys came up short against Roland Park Country (73-40). Back in Jersey, the next two games were a split with a win against Monmouth Regional be-

The first game of 2020 is Jan. 3 in a match-up on the minds of all who follow girls basketball at the Shore, when St. Rose comes to town. fore falling to Manasquan on the road. A second loss to both St. Rose and Manasquan, along with a showcase loss to Franklin were mixed in with another five wins against Rumson-Fair Haven, Raritan, Monmouth Regional, Xaverian (Brooklyn, NY) and Holmdel. Red Bank Regional squeaked out a victory (65-62) before five more wins and a season-ending 59-32 loss to SJV in the first round of the NJSIAA playoffs. “If we listen to coach (Joseph) Montano, we’ll go really far,” stated junior guard Sophia Sabino. The team believes the embarrassment of last year has been totally erased and replaced with the confidence of a reinvigorated program.

“Our strength is in us playing as a team, playing together and moving the ball,” added 6-foot-2 sophomore guard/forward Justine Pissott.

points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.

Sabino , a 5-foot-9 Fordham University commit, comes into 2019 averaging 10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, along with just shy of 2.5 steals per game. “Expect hardworking kids giving their all on the court,” she said. “My strength is distributing and getting my teammates the ball and getting them open shots.” She predicts an up-tempo style of basketball from the Caseys this year.

“Doing the little things, I think we can do really good,” she said. Work through the off season at various camps has turned up the spotlight on Pissott, a sound fundamental player. Not overlooking any of their opponents, when asked what game early in the season she was looking forward to, Pissott replied, “St. Rose, early next year.” Dealt two defeats during the 2018-19 season, RBC would like to avenge these losses on the way to reestablishing dominance in Non-Public A.

Pissott, in just her sophomore campaign is all the buzz in the RBC program this year, averaging a solid 12.2

Eggenschwiler, a Lehigh University commit, starts the season averaging 5.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5

Ranking the girls programs across the state, NJ.com opens the season with RBC in the 10th spot, while the Asbury Park Press Shore Top 10 places RBC in the third position in its pre-season poll. The Green and Gold of Red Bank Catholic’s girls basketball program is well known across the state, as well as the region. Another sub-20-win season for this team does not measure up to the standards set before they were even born. The expectation is not to create a new standard, but to simply measure up to the existing one. Looking into the eyes of these players and listening to their determination, I suspect RBC will be one of the last teams standing when all the smoke clears in the 2019-20 campaign.

No Rose Without a Thorn – St. Rose Ready to Bloom Again By Eugene Stewart

Farrell shed a little more light on last year, this year and what it’s going to take to get back to the TOC. “Off of a great year last year, we have a big target on our backs this year. We just have to go out this year and keep up the tempo,” said the University of Florida commit.

When asked about the type or style of play to expect from St. Rose this year, Antognoli was very direct. “Up tempo, fast pace, run and gun where we play together like a unit.”

The successes of a vibrant program at St. Rose are well documented, but the program hasn’t been without its distractions – the thorns.

The St. Rose schedule is relentless in its challenges to return as Non-Public A champs. St. Rose’s upcoming schedule includes games at RBC (Jan. 3), at RFH (Jan. 10) and home versus Manasquan (Jan.13). Other key contests include away games at Raritan (Jan. 16), at Franklin (Jan. 18) and home against RBC (Jan. 28).

The 2017 season was marred by a self-reported coaching violation resulting in coach Chambers serving a NJSIAAsanctioned year-long suspension. Andrews, a Neptune transfer, had to sit out 30 days in connection with transfer regulations. Through the latter situation, Andrews took it in stride and even used the forced absence through the first

For the Purple Roses, this insight could be just another element to help propel St. Rose over the top and to the TOC championship. Through it all, the St. Rose girls basketball team continues to rise each winter, as a perennial always does. Each season, the rose loses its petals to retreat and prepare for the next season. Proper nurturing – water, sunlight and food from the soil around it – provide what’s needed to grow tall and strong and capture the eye of those who admire “the work.” This year’s St. Rose team is ready to put in that work!

“I had to learn to sit there and watch my teammates while I couldn’t play. I enjoyed it, but it’s helped me to look at the game a little differently,” reflected Andrews. “It helped me see what the coaches see, not just as a player playing the game.”

ST. ROSE

“Seedings and what we’re ranked doesn’t mean anything until we earn it. We have to prove we’re as good as they say we are,” she said. “We have to work hard everyday and show everyone we’re good.”

A program looking to stand on past achievements and grow beyond their schedule and challenging by all estimations.

ST. ROSE

“I’m very excited about this year,” exclaimed Andrews, a Lafayette University commit.

This year’s version of the Purple Roses is led by Antognoli. At point guard, she runs the show and sets the pace for the team. When asked what the fans should expect from St. Rose this year, Abby was not shy with challenging her teammates, while remaining humble.

Maureen Stapleton

“We’re looking good, but the returning players will keep with the St. Rose level of play expected. We’re really homing in on our defense this year,” said Andrews, who spoke of losing a few key players from last year, but the returning players are up for the challenge. “We fell short of our goal last year against Franklin. Our goal is to finish the job this year – run through the finish line, bring it home!

After a 15-point loss to Rutgers Prep, they won another five straight against Raritan, Monmouth Regional, Putnam Sience Academy, Donovan Catholic and Marlboro. A loss against Manchester was followed by wins against Mount St. Mary Academy, Saint John Vianney and University. The loss Franklin in the TOC semifinals closed out the season.

ST. ROSE

The season, which opened on Dec. 20 against Holmdel, is coached by Mary Beth Chambers. The squad is anchored by two seniors – 5-foot-11 forward/guard Makayla Andrews and 5-foot-11 guard/forward Brynn Farrell; and two juniors – 5-foot-7 guard Abigail Antognoli and 5-foot-11 forward Maureen Stapleton.

Stuart Country Day, Monmouth Regional, National Christian Academy, Lincoln, Albertus Magnus, establishing its dominance.

Makayla Andrews

BELMAR – The Purple Roses of St. Rose are tough. They ended their 2018-19 season with an overall record of 28-3 and the champions of the Non-Public A division. Their last game was a five-point Tournament of Champions semifinal loss to Franklin, the eventual TOC champion. A final ranking of No. 1 in Non-Public A, No. 3 overall in the state and a No. 96 ranking nationally, last year was last year. Speaking with players from St. Rose, this is a new year and the goal is an even better performance for 2019-20.

PRESEASON NO.1 MANASQUAN NOT FAZED BY RANKING By Mike Ready

Manasquan finished No. 2 behind Ranney in last year’s final Shore Conference rankings after completing one of their best seasons in over 50 years. The Warriors had Ranney on the ropes in the Shore Conference Tournament final before losing by 10 points, and then captured the program’s third Central Jersey Group II championship since 2009 after winning the Class A Central title. They then came up short against Haddonfield in the semifinals of the Group II tournament – something that’s still fresh in their minds. “That game was frustrating; we played the day after we won the sectional title and we were a little tired and not as prepared as we would’ve liked,” said Flanagan. “We didn’t come out with the energy we had the night before but our goal is to get back there and win the Group II title and get to the TOC.” Manasquan will have to replace second team All-Shore guard Brad McCabe and 6-foot-6 big man Xander Korolik, but the Warriors bring five players back who were part of last season’s seven-man rotation, including first team All-Shore forward Alex Galvan, so the transition should be a smooth one.

MANASQUAN

Alex Galvan

The 6-foot-7 Galvan was also a first team All-Group II selection after a breakout season that saw him average 17.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals and

Both McEneny and O’Shaughnessy were in the rotation last season and have a ton of experience to work with. Flanagan is one of three returning starters and part of Manasquan’s dynamic backcourt duo consisting of himself and sophomore point guard Ben Roy, and they are projected to be one of the best backcourt tandems in the Shore Conference this season. The flashy Flanagan led the team with 107 assists (3.24 per game) and will be asked to shoot the ball more this season with the departure of McCabe. Look for his 8.5 scoring average to double this season as he takes on a much bigger role in the offense. Roy was third on the team in scoring last season when he averaged 9.2 points per game as a freshman starter along with averaging two assists and two rebounds per game. He’s already one of the top sophomores in the state and with a year under his belt the sky’s the limit for him. Junior guard Casey Mulligan is back after seeing the floor in all 33 games last season as part of the rotation and will be counted on more this season after a solid sophomore season. Guards Connor Walsh and Jack Collins – both juniors – will add some scoring off the bench and expect to see quality minutes. Juniors Andrew Solomon (6-foot-6) and Kane Ramsey (6foot-6) will provide depth at the forward position. “We’ve got a lot of potential,” said Flanagan. “We’ve got a lot of guys with a lot of talent and we’re really deep one through ten so it should be really good season. When we play as a team no one can beat us – that’s basically it.”

“People will be gunning for us because we’re the topranked team and we can’t let that get to us,” said senior shooting guard Kiernan Flanagan. “We haven’t even played a game yet so no one really knows how good we are. These are just preseason rankings and we’re just looking past that to the bigger picture of winning games and moving on.”

At 6-foot-8, junior center Tim McEneny gives the Warriors another big man upfront along with Galvan, and add 6-foot-4 senior forward Max O’Shaughnessy into the mix and you have one of the most imposing front courts in the Shore – if not the state.

MANASQUAN

With that lofty ranking comes high expectations and a bullseye on their backs, but the Warriors are taking it all in stride and are just focusing on getting off to a good start and taking it from there.

1.6 blocks per game. He’s the type of player that can take over a game by himself as he did on numerous occasions a year ago.

Ben Roy

MANASQUAN – With the graduation of Ranney AllAmericans Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antione, Manasquan becomes the first Shore Conference team other than Ranney to be ranked No. 1 in the preseason since the 2016-17 season.

Special thanks to Long Branch High School for hosting the JSN 21st Annual Basketball photo shoot. JSN would also like to thank all the amazing athletes that were in attendance. This year’s basketball photo shoot was one of the best we have ever had. Not only did we have an amazing turnout of some of the best players on the shore, but all the athletes were respectful, patient and loads of fun. We realize there are hundreds of talented athletes in the Shore Conference, but we were limited on space this year. We look forward to covering more athletes and sports during the remainder of this school year and for years to come. Thank you and good luck to all schools and athletes this season. Happy Holidays to you and your family, Jersey Sporting News

EXPERIENCED MIDDLETOWN SOUTH EMERGES AS CLASS A NORTH FAVORITE By Mike Ready

What 6-foot-1 senior forward Mike Dabas lacks in size he makes up for in toughness and a knack of positioning himself in the right spot underneath to dominate in the paint. He led the team in rebounds a year ago with 171 boards while averaging eight points per game.

In a reversal of fortune compared to a year ago, the Eagles pretty much return the entire squad this season with one exception, and are the clear-cut favorites to capture the A North title in addition to having a shot at their best season since 2009-10.

The Eagles return two of the top three-point shooters in the Shore from a year ago in Anderson and fellow senior guard Jack Sheridan. Anderson drilled 86 three’s which was third in the Shore while Sheridan added 72 – good for 10th in the Shore.

The Eagles return four starters and two players who have starting experience and saw extensive time on the court a year ago.

Anderson led the team in scoring with 358 points for a 12.8 average while Sheridan was right behind with 327 points, dropping in 11.7 points per game. Anderson also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.75 assists per game, while Sheridan added 2.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on average.

Five out of those six players are seniors who have been in the program for four years working their tails off to get to this point and now it’s their time to shine in the spotlight.

“We like to play fast and press people after making shots,” said Anderson of the team’s style of play. “Then get out in transition and make three’s.” Junior point guard Luke Albrecht finished fourth in the Shore Conference in assists with a per game average of 4.89 while averaging 10 points per game along with 38 steals and 75 boards. Senior guard Rich Boyko looks to be the first man off the bench again this season – a role he flourished in a year ago and is a lock-down defender. He averaged 4.57 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals in the sixth-man role. Senior 6-foot-3 center Jake Brown and junior 6-foot3 forward Tom Brown give the Eagles some size off the bench along with 6-foot junior forward Julius

Forte, while football standout Joe Stanzione will add some toughness underneath in a reserve role. Senior guard Joe Gervase, younger brother of former Eagles standout David, gives the Eagles another scoring option off the bench. Last season, as a five-seed in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV playoffs, the Eagles picked up an opening-round win over No. 12 Hightstown, but then lost to No. 4 Montgomery in the quarterfinals – a fact still fresh in their minds as the season approaches. “We’re hoping we can make a run this year,” said Anderson. “First we have to win our games in the regular season to get a good seed so we can get some home games in the playoffs. If we get that I think we’ll make a nice run.”

MIDDLETOWN SOUTH

They also earned a No. 8 seed and a first-round bye in the Shore Conference Tournament and beat a tough Marlboro team in the round of 16 before losing to No. 1 seed Ranney in the quarterfinals, but not before putting up a valiant fight. Ranney went on to win the SCT and later captured the Tournament of Champions title and the No. 1 ranking in the state.

The Eagles are a guard-oriented team but they do have some size up front with 6-foot-4 starting forward/center Bobby Pirie, who pulled down 132 boards a year ago while averaging seven points per game and led the team with 23 blocked shots.

Mike Dabas

That team, however, exceeded everyone’s expectations, finishing ranked seventh in the Shore Conference after posting a 16-12 overall record and a 7-7 record in the rugged Class A North, which was good for third place.

MIDDLETOWN SOUTH

Entering last season, not much was expected out of the Eagles, seeing they had to replace all five starters and the bulk of their bench from the previous year.

“I don’t think we have one leader, it’s kind of like a collective group,” said senior sharpshooter James Anderson. “We lead collectively as a group – we’re all together. As sophomores we all played JV together and ever since then we’ve played together over the summer and in fall leagues so we all know how each other plays and feed off of that.”

Friday will be the first game of the season for Reynolds, but should be the third game of the season for the Lady Hawks. Her return will be in the quarterfinals in the 36th Annual WOBM Christmas Classic, a tournament the Manchester girls hoops team has won for the last two years. As the top seed, the returning champions are expected to advance through the field and make a serious run for a third consecutive championship. As a guide for the current team, last year’s squad really served to set the tone. Replaying last year’s schedule, Manchester ran off eight straight wins to jump start their season. Wins against Lacey, Pinelands, Donovan Catholic, Wall, Toms River East, Ewing, Marlboro and Point Pleasant Boro gave the Hawks a great foundation to build upon. Two non-conference games chinked Manchester’s armor with a nine-point loss to Saddle River Day and a 15-point loss to Bishop McNamara (MD) in back-to-back games. A string of 24 straight wins through March would follow as the Hawks got back on track with wins against Barnegat (2), Lakewood (2), Jackson Liberty (2), Lacey, Pinelands, Donovan Catholic, Gloucester Catholic, Long Island Lutheran, Point Boro, Ocean City, Trinity Hall, Rumson-Fair Haven, St. Rose, Saint John Vianney, along with NJSIAA state tournament games against Pemberton, Oakcrest, Haddonfield, Middle Township, Manasquan, and the Group II final against Lincoln and Mainland Regional, before the season-ending 13-point defeat to Saddle River Day.

“Our goal for the year in the TOC championship” stated Adams. The versatile centerpiece of the Manchester program, who is still undecided where she will continue her basketball exploits next year, is very frank yet humble with her comments. “I’m very excited about this year and this team and we know everyone is out for us. The key for us is working together as a team

20

The road to the WOBM title, Shore Conference title and the NJSIAA Group II title all run through Manchester. Should they remain healthy, the Hawks have the personnel, spirit, energy and the court maturity and understanding to present a stout defense of their 2018 accumulated hardware. The awards should not be in short supply this year either, as Manchester should be one of the last standing teams across the state in March and go down as one of the Shore greats when their story is told.

Adams recognizes her role as a member of the upperclasswomen on the team and the responsibility of showing that leadership. “We have to lead our younger teammates and make sure they understand what’s happening and are doing their part,” she said.

MANCHESTER

“I have a very positive outlook for our team this year,” said Reynolds, a University of Pennsylvania commit. Beginning the season on the shelf, rehabbing a strained achilles tendon, Reynolds makes it clear on her eminent return. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back Friday. This minor setback has prepared me for a major comeback!”

without real go-to players. Whoever is having a good night, we need to make sure we get them the ball,” she said.

Serenity Anderson

Reynolds, the third element from a year ago for coach Dave “Beau” Beauchemin’s Manchester squad, bursts with energy and excitement when asked about this year’s team.

The schedule continues with Barnegat and Lakewood, before a matchup against Kenwood (IL) – ranked No. 9 in Illinois through 12 games – at Truman High School in Bronx, NY. The remainder of January’s slate features games against Jackson Liberty, Lacey, Trenton Catholic Academy, Pinelands and Donovan Catholic. Five games in early February pit the Hawks against Point Pleasant Boro, Barnegat, Mainland Regional, Lakewood and Jackson Liberty.

MANCHESTER

The end game – a 32-3 overall record, the No. 5 ranked team in the state and No. 181 nationally, their first-ever Shore Conference title and NJSIAA Group II state championship and the first-ever berth in the Tournament of Champions before a semifinal defeat to Saddle River. Nothing to sneeze at! It’s now the 2019-20 season and the reset to 0-0 presents a blank canvas without two team leaders from a year ago. GAME ON!

The 2019 schedule for Manchester continues with the WOBM Classic (first round against Brick Memorial on Dec. 22). They pick up the new year against Pinelands (Jan. 3), St. Frances Academy (MD) on Jan. 5, Donovan Catholic on Jan. 6, Point Pleasant Boro on Jan. 9 and Montverde Academy (FL) on Jan. 10.

Kemari Reynolds

MANCHESTER – Led by seniors Leilani Correa (17ppg, 7.6rpg, 3.4spg, 2.7apg), Dakota Adams (14.7ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.4apg, 1.9spg) and junior Kemari Reynolds (10ppg, 2.7rpg, 4.7apg, 2.8spg), the 2018-19 version of the Manchester Hawks averaged almost 70 points, 35 rebounds, 16.9 assists and 14.7 steals per game.

Page 13

Opening the season at home on Dec. 20 before a packed house against Lacey, Manchester jumped out to a 25-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as they cruised to a 76-39 victory over the Lions. The Hawks were led by Adams with 25 points, 20 boards and 7 blocks; Bray with 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals; and freshman Gabriella Ross with 16 points and 2 boards.

Manchester Looks to Play it Again, Simply Changing the Last Note

12/24/19 - 1/13/20 • Jersey Sporting News The 2019 rendition of the Lady Hawks can either run you out of the gym with a transition game led by Reynolds distributing the ball to sharp-shooter Nahkeleigh Hayes-Jones, or abuse opponents in the post with 6-foot-3 Destiny Adams and 5-foot-7 Serenity Anderson. Tying this all together is the development of sophomores Jada Trotman, Alyssa Carino and Amyah Bray from last year’s ride, and Manchester is a very deep team with potential contributors reaching to the end of the bench.

TOMS RIVER NORTH IS ONCE AGAIN THE FAVORITE TO WIN THE A SOUTH DIVISION By Mike Ready

But after bowing out in the quarterfinals of the Shore Conference Tournament last season, then advancing to the South Jersey Group IV semifinals before losing to Cherokee, the Mariners have much loftier goals this season than just another 14-0 division title.

The second piece of Tom River North’s inside-outside game is the 6-foot-7, 295-pound Hallenbeck, who has a knack for dominating a game in the paint on both ends of the floor.

Sophomore guard Jaiden Fraser rounds out the starting lineup for the Mariners. Fraser worked his way into the starting lineup late last season and made an immediate impact displaying limitless potential as an all-around player; he has star quality written all over his game.

Senior starting guard Colin Baker missed 10 games early in the season a year ago with an injury but came back strong and he’s another one who should be able to up his game another level this season after averaging five points, six rebounds and three assists last season.

Junior guards Jack Brown and Jake Kazanowsky add depth off the bench along with a few newcomers, including 6-foot4 sophomore guard Lamir Mitchell, 6-foot guard Wesley Deitsch and 6-foot-5 forward Vinny Lebello. Kazonowsky was recently named the Shore Conference Offensive Player

TOMS RIVER NORTH

Najae Hallenbeck

He was a second team All-Shore selection as well as a third team All-Group IV pick during his breakout year that saw him score a team-high 538 points.

“We like to push the ball up court in transition but if we don’t have anything we can slow it down and get the ball to Najae,” said Spence. “We can pick-and-roll, whatever coach calls we can run it in the half court but we like to get into transition and score easy buckets and speed teams up.”

Jakari Spence

Spence averaged 18.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals a year ago while shooting 78.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range, sinking 59 of them.

At 6-foot-5, senior forward Mike Van Sprang adds some more height upfront and with a year of starting experience under his belt, Van Sprang may be in line for a breakout year after averaging five points and five rebounds last season.

TOMS RIVER NORTH

Leading the way for the Mariners again this season will be senior guard Jakari Spence and senior center Najae Hallenback, who both had award-winning years for the Mariners last season and should take their games to an even higher level this season.

The big man put up 14 points a game and averaged 11.4 rebounds, good for sixth in the Shore, on his way to being named first team All-Division. Hallenbeck broke a bone in his hand early in the Cherokee loss or the outcome could’ve been different, and he’s coming off a prodigious football career after which he picked up first team AllShore honors and holds numerous scholarship offers from FBC schools.

Colin Baker

And with four starters back from last year’s team that won 24 games and finished ranked No. 5 in the Shore, along with some promising newcomers in the fold, the Mariners appear primed to make a run at one or more championships.

of the Year after a sensational year at quarterback, so his athleticism speaks for itself. “’We are greater than me,’ that’s our motto,” said Spence. “We is the team and we’re greater than any one individual. That’s how we’re going to approach this season – as a team.” The Mariners have been to the SCT semifinals four times in the last seven years but have yet to reach the finals and they are still looking for that elusive first sectional title, but this group has all the markings of a champion, so now it’s up to them to produce. “We can go very far, we have the potential to do anything,” said Hallenbeck. “We’re a tough team and we’re going to play hard this season.”

TOMS RIVER NORTH

“We’ve got a lot of upside,” said Spence. “A lot of us are seniors and have been playing together all three years. Everyone has the mindset that we want to win, just win no matter who we’re up against, we just want to win, that’s our goal. We just have to play together as a team and everyone needs to buy into (head) coach (Roy) Caswell’s system.”

Michael Van Sprang

TOMS RIVER – The Mariners will be seeking their sixth straight A South championship this season in a division they’ve dominated so thoroughly in recent years that on opening night against Toms River East they are expected to win their 61st straight division game dating back to February 2015.
