Welcome
MAGIC TENDS TO FILL THE AIR during the fall and winter months at The Boca Raton, and this season is no different. In penning this letter, I encourage you to consider this note as our cordial invitation to enjoy the splendor of the season across our 200-acre private Club and resort.
From the very beginning, The Boca Raton has been the backdrop for new traditions to take shape, as well as beloved ones to be nurtured. Our property has been home to countless memories and celebrations over the years, starting with its opening in 1926, an occasion that was marked by nearly 350 members of Palm Beach society and a welcome dinner that was considered that season’s most memorable social event. And today’s memories are just as distinct.
As we bring together the best of the past, today and tomorrow, we continue to enhance our iconic Club and resort. This season, we open our reimagined fifth and final hotel, the fully transformed 27-story Tower, an ideal choice for families, with its water views and large connecting suites, all just steps from Harborside Pool Club. Through our continued evolution, our goal remains the same—to grow and deepen the feeling that has made The Boca Raton so special to so many generations of individuals and families.
We have expanded our culinary offerings, which now include the addition of Principessa Ristorante and Japanese Bocce Club, both stylish signature concepts at Cloister created in partnership with Major Food Group. And for a more casual waterside bite, we are pleased to introduce Harbor House, an easy al fresco dining spot for late lunches, afternoon cocktails and family dinners. In addition to Harbor House, Harborside Pool Club will welcome a new lakefront snack ‘shack’—the Burger Bar. Read about the new offerings, along with perspective from Director of Culinary Operations Andrew Roenbeck, on page 62.
Fall welcomes one of our newest collaborations with a global innovator. We’ve partnered with legendary French brand Vilebrequin, whose presence at Beach Club includes new private cabanas outfitted in the brand’s vibrant prints, as well as a dedicated retail space with its luxurious swimwear and water apparel. We also welcome to Beach Club a new general manager, Ekrem Koroglu, whose multi-decade career in hospitality includes positions at exclusive properties around the world.
Finally, I encourage you to take a moment and explore our reimagined shopping experience—including both women’s,
Boca Chica, and men’s shop Mr. Pink amongst many others. From wellness finds at The Shop at Spa Palmera to flowers and home accessories, or a barbershop shave at Truman’s Gentlemen’s Groomers, there is plenty in store this season.
In our commitment to offer elevated experiences to all members and guests, we did not forget about our younger ones. This season, we introduce The Break, a brand-new tweens-only space at Harborside Pool Club that will feature a mocktail bar, candy wall, virtual reality gaming center, 360-degree TikTok booth and a podcast booth. And there is no better way to burn off all that energy than the FlowRider surf wave pool just outside. We detail this exciting space on page 34.
We hope you enjoy this issue of 1926. Welcome to another extraordinary season at The Boca Raton.

KIDS THESE DAYS
Experience The Boca Raton through the eyes of your children. Banyan Bunch’s Patch Program is an opportunity for our youngest members and guests to interact in various on-site programming, such as tennis and surf lessons, and a round of golf, earning them a card after every activity. Cards can then be traded in for corresponding patches at the Discovery Center. Once children have accumulated five patches, they will receive a new bookbag at the Discovery Center on which to feature their well-deserved patches!
BOCA WHIP
Enjoy the tropics with a Boca Whip in hand, available beginning this winter at Harborside Pool Club. The soft-serve fruit ice cream, available in four flavors, comes loaded with fruit toppings. Pro tip: Try the Pineapple Float Boca Whip with the added joy of pineapple juice, and add crushed pineapples on top for the ultimate tasty refreshment.
OPEN WATER
Experience Lake Boca Raton and the surrounding inlets aboard a captained Hinckley Yacht, courtesy of Barton & Gray Mariners Club. The renowned yacht service, known for its customizable concierge options, is offering members and guests an opportunity to explore the nearby waters in pristine elegance in one of its contemporary fleet of yachts. That’s one way to make a splash.
TOWER-FUL
This fall, The Boca Raton welcomes the reopening of Tower, the 27-story hotel that has locked in its place as one of the most iconic buildings in the region. The fully reimagined space is the fifth hotel in the property’s portfolio, following a $65 million transformation that includes expansive suites, breathtaking vistas and distinct programming that delivers an unmatched experience for the whole family.
Only steps from Harborside Pool Club, Tower is a meaningful milestone in The Boca Raton’s evolution into A New Golden Era.
“Tower further defines The Boca Raton as one of the world’s most distinguished resorts and private clubs, setting a new standard for luxury hospitality,” says Daniel Hostettler, President & CEO of The Boca Raton.
Tower’s story began in 1969 when it opened as Boca Raton’s tallest building. Paying homage to its original pink facade, Tower’s exterior has been refreshed to a light coastal-pink hue. Restoring the allure of the building is integral to its new chapter, as envisioned with Jorge Garcia, CEO of architecture firm Garcia Stromberg, who collaborated with designers from Rockwell Group to transform the space.
As guests enter Tower, warm contemporary coastal interiors envelop each space. The second-level Tower
Lounge features beautiful views of the pool and sparkling Intracoastal. The lounge and meeting area features a communal area and bar that includes complimentary morning pastries and juices, plus an assortment of afternoon snacks. As a special weekend treat, a popup sundae bar creates a sweet social scene for kids of all ages.
Opportunities to unwind abound, from a listening lounge with beautifully crafted headphones by premium audio brand Master & Dynamic, an area to partake in a friendly competition of classic games such as chess, and an exclusive book lending library curated in partnership with Assouline.
The hotel’s 224 guest rooms and suites have been fully reimagined into bright and airy abodes with warm
wood accents. Each guest room features sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and coastline. “We redesigned the rooms with a contemporary coastal feel imbued with a sense of casual luxury to flaunt the spectacular 360-degree views,” says Shawn Sullivan, Partner at Rockwell Group.
The customizable accommodations are ideal for multi-generational families and groups of friends. At the height of elegance, a Presidential Suite offers stunning spaces and added touches such as antique-inspired binoculars by local creators Luxxoptica.
Exclusive amenities at Tower include the culinary experience Bagels in Bed. Enjoy room service for the entire family with the world-famous bagels from Sadelle’s, complete with an array of “schmears” and accouterments that can be enjoyed right in bed.
In the lobby, the popular Everything But Water boutique has a curated, elegant resort-wear shopping experience.
A slate of innovative amenities such as its two robot butlers, Johnnie and Ethel, named after the monkey pets of The Boca Raton’s original owner and famed architect Addison Mizner, also delight guests. These life-sized robots are family-friendly, whimsical and have personalities all their own. Their capabilities are impressive—including leading newly checked-in guests to their rooms and offering room deliveries.
PARDON OUR FRENCH
The Boca Raton is bringing the South of France to our shores with a new design partnership with French luxury brand Vilebrequin. The poolside cabanas at Beach Club will feature the Vilebrequin touch, including yacht-inspired flooring, nautical light fixtures, a light and airy color palette, and custom Vilebrequin wallpaper. Additional highlights include sofas with pillows crafted from Vilebrequin towels, ceiling fans, TVs, private restrooms with showers, minifridges and Champagne buckets. Exclusive amenities include butler service, a selection of refreshments and a snack basket. It’s coastal charm at its finest at Beach Club. Like something you see? Head up to Beach Club lobby to shop the new Vilebrequin store, featuring limitededition men’s swim trunks.
WORD UP
It’s been said that a room without books is like a body without a soul. If that’s the case, then look no further than The Boca Raton’s new Assouline boutique to add meaningful content to your library. Within Boca Chica at Cloister, the boutique will have a finely curated library of special-edition books, luxury gift items and unique library accessories. Part of the property’s reimagined retail experience, the Assouline boutique will be furnished with contemporary and classic pieces, vintage accessories and a wall of books from its Ultimate Collection, which contains limited-edition prints that are a nod to the art of luxurious, hand-crafted bookmaking.
AFTER DARK AT RACQUET CLUB
The Boca Raton’s Racquet Club will be aglow this season. Beginning this fall, the club will enhance its evening play by host ing later sessions under the lights. On any given day this season, play will include four to eight lit tennis and pickleball courts that will stay open until the early evening.
In addition, the Racquet Club will add two more pickleball courts to its slate, for a total of six courts. With the fast-growing sport on the rise all over the country, The Boca Raton wanted to make it easier to play the popular game.
“Pickleball is a very social sport,” says Nikki Roth, the club’s director of pickle ball. “Commonly played as a doubles sport, it can become a very social game with more people involved.”
TASTE THE RAINBOW
Maison Rose has the ultimate kids’ birthday cake (or for those who are simply young at heart). Bright, vibrant and delicious, its rainbow sprinkle cake features a moist vanilla sponge cake with a healthy dose of sprinkles to add color and texture. The best part? Cut the cake to discover more sprinkles inside. Contact Maison Rose to order your special cake.
Noticing the sport’s popularity, the Rac quet Club, which has three pickleball pros in addition to its eight tennis pros, added an open play session in the morning, giving players a chance to further their skills in a non-pressure situation.
“You just show up, and we have an attendant out there, and you rotate the players,” says Erik Silver, director of tennis at the Racquet Club, who also notes the club’s concierge service that can cater to any player’s needs and experience level. “Once you score 11 points, four new peo ple go on the court. During the time that you’re not playing, it becomes very social, and it’s very much a community sport.”
On the Water Wonders
New Water Adventures for the Whole Family Make A Splash This Season
By Nila Do SimonAS THE BOCA RATON continues to enhance programming, waterside and on-the-water activities are highlights for those looking to experience an elevated sense of leisure. At Harborside Pool Club, in addition to the lazy river that snakes around lush tropical foliage, the three pools, water slides and a kids’ area (complete with a replica pirate ship!), more amenities will be unveiled this season.
Three new features opening this winter at Harborside Pool Club are the FlowRider surf simulator, The Break tween center and kiddie cabanas. Simulating an actual surfing experience, the FlowRider welcomes all levels, including beginners. Participants are encouraged to ride the waves in a social atmosphere as friends and family members stand nearby to cheer on. And the best part? The surf is always up.
Just next door along Lake Boca Raton’s promenade, The Break is a parent-free zone that caters to tweens and will feature a mocktail bar as well as a “candy wall” (with handy dispensers!) to satisfy even the sweetest tooth. Tweens can enjoy their candy or mocktail on the expan sive outdoor covered patio, with views of the FlowRider in
action from their elevated vantage point. The Break will also be home to plenty of indoor fun and programming. A virtual reality gaming center, 360-degree TikTok booth and a podcast booth round out the interactive offerings inside the nearly 1,000-square-foot facility.
Harborside Pool Club continues to cater to its youngest pool-goers with brand-new kiddie cabanas: four themed cabanas that have everything a toddler and preschooler would love. A riff on the family poolside cabanas, these
versions at the splash zone area will include themes like princess parties, which include royal costumes, and chef shows, which feature a full play kitchen.
“We’re looking to reposition the property as a leisure destination for members and guests,” says Daniel Hostettler, President and CEO of The Boca Raton. “We’ll offer one thousand and one things to do at The Boca Raton that kids and parents will be drawn to.”
For those seeking to take advantage of the lake and Intracoastal, water sport and activity rentals will be avail able at the water sports center at the base of Tower. There, members and guests can rent stand-up paddleboards and pedal kayaks, take sailing lessons on a Hobie Cat and even take out a Boston Whaler for the day.
Also launching this season is Relentless, a 42-foot classic cruising yacht that is outfitted with new teak and brass accents. Able to accommodate up to 12 people, Relentless expands experiences under A New Golden Era at The Boca Raton as a modern version of a classic lobster boat, turning the traditionally working vessel into an elegant craft for entertaining.
Captained cruises offer an array of possibilities, from sun set excursions along the Intracoastal to anchoring at Lake Boca Raton for a picnic and a stand-up paddleboard experi ence, or docking at Principessa Ristorante for an oysters and drink pairing, and then ending the night with an Italian dinner at the restaurant.
Deliverance
The ritual bath experience at Spa Palmera washes away everyday pressures with the magic of ancient traditions
By Nila Do SimonIT WAS HOT, I WAS LATE, and we both needed self-care. So began my day at Spa Palmera with one of my dearest friends, Cristina. An escape from the grind had been beckoning both Cristina and me for some time. And I couldn’t think of a better environment than Spa Palmera, a 50,000-square-foot ode to the majestic halls of the ancient Moorish residence of Alhambra Palace. A girls’ spa day is what we both decided we needed, and a girls’ spa day is what Spa Palmera delivered.
There’s no better setting for a self-care recharge with friends than a day at Spa Palmera. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a slew of other reasons (I blame it on adulting), my friend Cristina and I hadn’t seen each other in nearly four years. Video calls and phone conversations, while extremely helpful, could only placate us for so long.
When we finally met within the spa’s expansive lounge, it was as if no time had passed at all. My, how I had missed her. We then carried our conversation on to our treatments: ritual baths for the both of us before enjoying a Royal Coconut Milk and Honey Ritual.
Elements of Alhambra are found throughout the footprint of Spa Palmera, from the introductory welcome drink of sparkling-infused rose water to the ornate ritual baths where guests are treated like royalty. Spa-goers will be transported to another era as they enter the second-floor Whispering
Gallery, a nod to the eponymously named section of the Alhambra where courtesans lowered their voices to whisper secrets on their way to treatment rooms.
Spa Palmera has embraced and modernized the ancient concept of ritual baths. Known as a way to cleanse one’s aura and heal the heart, ritual baths can be taken with a spiritual, intentional purpose. Water also acts as a conduit for the spirit and can enhance connections to the universe.
The spa continues to draw on the inspirational influences of Alhambra to present three ritual bath choices, all within a serene indoor bath area resplendent with showers, and soaking, deluge and hot tubs. It’s recommended to prepare for any bath ritual with 10 minutes in one of the therapy rooms—the halotherapy salt room with pink Himalayan salt, the eucalyptusfilled sauna, or toxin-eliminating steam room—to fully prepare the body and mind to accept and take advantage of the ritual. Actually, this preparation seems like just the right prelude for just about any Spa Palmera service, including the signature treatments of the Diamond Facial by Natura Bissé (which begins with an oh-so-soothing custom exfoliation) and the Deep Tissue Massage, a favorite among athletes and those with an active lifestyle.
Cristina and I opted for the signature Royal Ritual bath. After our attendant gently guided us to our respective soaking tubs, we relaxed in warm water enhanced with pink Himalayan salt and hydrating milk bath powder. We were each given a tray filled with a chamomile face mask, hibiscus tea, passion fruit sorbet and lavender salt scrub with a loofah. After soaking for 20 minutes, the ritual continued with a five-minute Swiss shower, a stimulating shower with 50 jets that serve to invigorate and increase blood circulation. It was then followed by a 10-minute deluge, or a warm water massage that loosens muscles and stimulates the body into releasing natural stress-reducing endorphins. We finished our ritual bath in the large hot tub, where we were given cold washcloths, glasses of water and fresh fruit to enjoy while in the tub.
Then, after passing by the Whispering Gallery, I entered a treatment room for my 90-minute Royal Coconut Milk and Honey Ritual. I learned that milk and honey baths are symbolic beauty rituals from past eras that have been reinvented with enhanced technology. The treatment was performed in an Aemotio Vichy shower by Lemi, a futuristiclooking heated water mattress with an attached shower head that incorporates chromotherapy and steaming. Organic cane sugar, honey, coconut milk and exotic nut oils are combined to exfoliate, hydrate and renew.
Known for its floral and medicinal gardens, the Alhambra Palace is considered in the same majestic realm as the Seven Wonders of the World. Spa Palmera recreates the beauty of the palace gardens with

After our treatments were completed, we lounged by the two-story fireplace in the Great Hall, and explored the Mediterranean-inspired gardens, where a poolside ambassador provided flavored waters, ice-cold grapes, refreshing citrus splash, sunscreen and cooling aloe. We also made our selections from the spa poolside cafe, which includes a menu of light Spanish-themed cuisine.
As they say, all good things must come to an end. Sadly, our girls’ spa day did, but not without a parting gift—the selected aromatic scent used in our treatments in a facial mist. It served as a reminder that no matter how soul-crushing the daily grind becomes, a check in at Spa Palmera can help right the course. And it’s even better if you bring a friend.

THE FIT CONNECTION
Paula Bernstein believes that everyone should be able to be happy, function well and age well. And as the newest director of fitness and wellness at The Boca Raton, she takes great pride in delivering the neces sary tools to achieve those goals. “The Boca Raton doesn’t want to offer just another fit ness center in a beautiful resort; we want to create an experience,” says Bernstein. For her, it starts with connectivity. After two years of pandemic-related isolation, Bernstein feels members and guests are ready to reconnect to their health and with each other.
“There’s a social aspect of being in a gym setting,” she says. “You become engaged not just with your movement, but also with those moving around you. People start looking out for you and really miss you when you’re not able to come to a class. These social encounters help you become more reliable, dependable and positive.”
In addition to engaging, functional work out classes with HIIT-like (High Intensity Interval Training) elements, Bernstein says she’s bringing more attention to mental
health, nutrition and recovery. Available at both Harborside and Beach Club fitness facilities, members and guests can take part in a meditation series to introduce different forms of the practice, such as finger laby rinth and body scan meditation; dedicated classes are also available. Bernstein be lieves it’s an opportunity to further tap into being mindful and present, concepts that can help ground and calm a person.
Bernstein’s focus on nutrition includes macronutrient timing, a form of free eating that allows people to consume foods at stra tegic times in order to achieve the desired outcomes. “People are starting to care more what they are putting in their bodies,” she says. “Macronutrient timing is more forgiv ing in that if I’m allowed 120 grams of protein a day, I can have whatever protein source I want as long as it falls within that allocation.”
Bernstein is also looking to include recov ery times into fitness enthusiasts’ schedules by making available restorative treatments such as massage guns, restorative com pression boots, stretching and foam rolling. Within the Harborside Fitness Club is the
new Three Sages wall unit, an interactive touch screen and surround sound that delivers content for a holistic restorative experience. Guests are welcome to use the unit to experience “sips of wellness,” or short, targeted content that encourages users to feel better in minutes, and the effect is cumulative.
“If I can deliver a healthy message in a way that’s user-friendly, and individuals can incorporate good habits in their lives, then I’ve done my job,” Bernstein says.

Chef Andrew Roenbeck
Director of culinary operations and Resort executive chefYOU COULD SAY THAT Chef Andrew Roenbeck’s career has two time frames, BTBR and ATBR: Before The Boca Raton and After The Boca Raton. Before joining The Boca Raton, Roenbeck was an emerging culinary savant who completed a stage at the world-famous Café and Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, working with renowned Chef Alain Ducasse at the Louis XV restaurant and with Chef Roger Cuisinier at Café de Paris. When he arrived at the property in 1991, Roenbeck had little idea that he would be an integral part of its culinary team for the next 31 years and counting. Today, he leads hundreds of culinary team members into a new era that is described as A World of Flavor to create 14 distinct drink and dine concepts, including signature restaurants in collaboration with Major Food Group.
Why go back to the drawing board to offer new restaurants and dining options?
The guest expectations and their knowledge level is better today than, say, 15 years ago, thanks to the internet, culinary TV shows and just an overall more educated food community. It was the right time to adjust to their expectations and give not just a great menu, but also a memorable experience around food and beverage.
How does this new generation of culinary concepts add to the member and guest experience?
The most intriguing thing about culinary, food and beverage is that it’s always evolving. Today it is much more about the experi ence, especially the emotional experience. When we’re doing menu research and development, we always think about a highlevel concept that we can perform that doesn’t hinder the dining experience. We call it “a move.”
[“The Move” is a concept coined by Major Food Group partners Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi to describe “unique service style moments.”— Ed.] We invented a move at Marisol for our Thousand Layer Crème Brûlée Cake. The dessert has an orange essence to it, creating a sense of place in our tropical setting. At the table, in front of the guests, we have sugar that goes on top, plus a special rum alcohol that’s spritzed over it. Right before the dessert is presented to the diner, the server comes with a torch in hand to
light up the top layer. That’s our “move.” It makes for a great conversation piece, not only at the table but with other nearby guests experiencing the moment.
You’ve been doing this for 31 years with The Boca Ra ton. How are today’s diners different from past years? Our guests’ preferences are evolving, and I think it’s very im portant to listen to them. Farm-to-table dining may have been the start of things, but now it has progressed to creating a sense of place. We want you to be able to close your eyes and still feel that you’re dining in a South Florida restaurant, and we do that by incorporating the different cultures and flavor profiles that we have in Florida.
From a guest perspective, there is an expectation for that.
How have your kitchens evolved to mirror diners’ preferences to offer alternative options?
We’re looking to position more vegetarian and plant-based foods to center-of-the-plate dishes, not just side items. We’ve also been more conscious of diners who prefer a gluten-free meal. Our kitchens now use gluten-free panko breadcrumbs across the property.
How do you keep the energy moving after 31 years at The Boca Raton?
There are a lot of moving pieces to making a restaurant and concept successful. The most rewarding thing is to enjoy what you do and who you do it with. It’s that balance between finding en joyment and laughter and fun, but there is a very intense business side of things to make 14 restaurant concepts work.
Ekrem Koroglu
General Manager of The Boca Raton Beach Club
WHEN THE BOCA RATON BEACH CLUB dreamed up plans to undergo a reimagination, the property sought a trusted hospitality leader who could oversee the destination during its transformation and beyond, while also ensuring a five-star level of service. They found that in industry professional Ekrem Koroglu. Beach Club’s new general manager brings a wealth of luxury hotel experience to the 212-room property, including 14 years with the Four Seasons brand that saw him oversee properties in premier destinations such as Washington D.C., Vail, San Francisco, Beverly Hills and Istanbul. The Turkish native has also been a part of several luxury hotels from the East to West coasts, including the iconic Watergate Hotel and Mandarin Oriental. Here, Koroglu gives
us insight on how he’ll bring his diverse background in high-end hospitality to the sophisticated oceanside setting of Beach Club.
With your deep perspective on luxury resorts, why do you think Beach Club is so special?
We have so many high-end options at Beach Club. You can wake up and spend the day relaxing on the beach or poolside, or stay active with water sports such as kayaking and surfing. Not only that, but guests also have access to the entirety of this beautiful resort, with world-class tennis, golf and one of the largest spas in the country, Spa Palmera, at 50,000 square feet. The Boca Raton’s culinary offerings, and partnership on four restaurants with Major Food Group, make it a memorable stay for members and guests with many options of fine to casual dining. At Beach Club, Marisol serves Greek mezze and Mediterranean-inspired cocktails with ocean views, while Beach Club lounge offers an inspired space with international cuisine.
The service is at an extremely high level. Over the years, the resort has done a great job hosting large groups and meetings, and we have expanded services and facilities to offer the leisure clientele a more personalized experience. That’s something that cannot be found in too many places around the world.
What is new at Beach Club this season?
Twenty-two poolside cabanas have been reinvigorated and outfit ted by our new partner, Vilebrequin. The luxury French swim wear brand will not only have a retail store at Beach Club, but it also designed the interior of the cabanas, including wallpaper and furnishings that have a distinct Vilebrequin look and print. Each cabana features a different color and theme. Beachside, we have brand-new day beds and clamshell cabanas.
As we look ahead, we will reimagine our dining and Fitness Club, and a new pool will be added to the south cabana club pool deck...The bones of Beach Club are already fantastic, and elevat ing the room product will make it a best-in-class resort.
What do you consider the future of hospitality, and how will Beach Club incorporate that concept?
The lines between leisure travel and business have blurred since the pandemic. Guests can be on vacation with their family and friends, but may still step away to work. There will be flexibility to use spaces that include more seating areas, whether it is for work or a pop-up meeting during one hour, or in-room dining for another. We are part of a large resort, but it also feels private and intimate. When you’re at Beach Club, what makes it different is its exclusivity, yet you have access to all 14 restaurants, 20 bars and activities across our 200-acre destination.
How do you plan to continue bringing forth the legacy of the property?
The history of The Boca Raton is just incredible...The legacy of The Boca Raton makes our story very unique. Through our strong relationship with the Boca Raton Historical Society, we will continue to celebrate the property’s heritage in all we do.
Jorge Garcia
Architect and co-founder of Garcia Stromberg
much of the reimagined property, including the entryway porte cochère at Cloister. And with more additions and redesigns in the works, Garcia Stromberg is just getting started on leaving its imprint on The Boca Raton. Here, Garcia discusses how The Boca Raton’s history inspired his designs and the honor he had in elevating lauded architect Addison Mizner’s vision to modern times.
How did you prepare for the project?
Our thoughts parallel with the property’s owners. They have always been about the imagery and how to keep the illustrious history of The Boca Raton front and center. I thought, “I’d better roll up my sleeves and really examine what makes its history so important.” I went to see Mary Csar, executive director of the Boca Raton Historical Society, who gave me what’s considered the most comprehensive book about Boca Raton and the hotel. I read it, and then I got another notch of curiosity. It’s a history made of chronology, beginning in 1926 and on through the next century. It’s not like the place was built in one time. The Golden Era probably did manifest itself in the 1920s with Cloister. Mizner set the tone, and then the property began to evolve. It grew sort of organically.
Where do you see your architectural firm fitting into this chronology?
We are just the next players in line to this organic growth. We have to play a dual role: Be the next in line to add our true fin gerprints, but also bring it all together. We’re paying tremendous attention to how the place comes more comprehensively together.
We’re also turning our attention to the location and its po sitioning at Lake Boca Raton. The Boca Raton has the urban aspect and also the water. We have to begin to appreciate the outdoor spaces as much as the indoors, which made us want to have members and guests feel the orientation and their relation ship to the outdoors.
How did you balance the historic design with today’s aesthetics and hospitality needs?
We are very conscientious during historic renovations. We didn’t want our design to look like it was done in 1926. So we thought, “What would Mizner do today?”
JORGE GARCIA IS NO STRANGER to The Boca Raton. When he and his architectural and design firm were asked to join in the vision for A New Golden Era, the co-founder of Garcia Stromberg, which Garcia has operated since 1987 with business partner Peter Stromberg, was honored. A Boca Raton resident since 1987, Garcia and his team had twice been a part of the property’s redesign in the past several decades, but now they were given an opportunity to realign history with modern-day touches to bring the entire property back to its distinguished reputation. Garcia’s response? Absolutely yes.
With Phase 1 of the project near completion, members and guests can already see the architectural firm’s influence on
As we create our own imprint, it doesn’t mean that we turn our back to the property’s beauty and the iconic history. We cannot abandon the history. But we respect it, not emulate it. For example, with Harborside Pool Club, it takes on its own image being a separate complex, but also integrates back to the original facility. You can tell it is new, but at the same time, we were very cognizant in making its architectural allusions to Cloister.
We want members and guests to enjoy the proximity to the water and have a sense of place. Everything here is one part of a whole. Think about this: Even when things grow organically, there’s nothing wrong with being a little different. This is a special place, and leading it to A New Golden Era from an archi tectural point of view has been a proud moment for us.

Financial Advice and Planning
“Women need to be involved in their financial plans and have an understanding of where all of their assets are, and what they are used for,” says Certified Financial Planner™ Elizabeth Bennett.
As a woman who has reared a child, been through a divorce and is working toward her own financial future, she forges a relationship with her clients from her own personal experiences.
“You need be in control of your finances and not leave that responsibility to someone else,” she cautions. “Knowing the types of investments that you have, the log-ins for your accounts, and sharing that information with your spouse is very important. Being involved in reviews with your financial advisor and understanding how to access those assets is imperative,” Bennett says.
“Taking responsibility for your financial wellbeing, starting at a young age, is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself. You should take advantage of your employer’s retirement plan, understand what your short-term savings need to look like and what your assets’ tax implications are. Be aware of your spending habits and where all of your money is going, whether you are single or married. As women, we know the value of delegating. My advice is to take one thing off of your plate and reach out to an advisor to get your financial house in order with someone you can trust. I am here for you,” she says.
IF TASTE IS PERSONAL, then consider your palate personally satisfied when The Boca Raton opens its newly enhanced roster of culinary concepts this season. Added to the already robust lineup of on-property restaurants are four distinct dining experiences that will continue elevating The Boca Raton’s culinary offerings, totaling 14 extraordinary options in one destination.
Major Food Group, the worldwide restaurant group that has trail-blazed through the culinary world in the past decade, continues to offer members and guests its take on artful cuisine in energetic spaces with two additional signature dining options.
Joining The Flamingo Grill, and its widely popular brunch and deli institution Sadelle’s, are Principessa Ristorante and Japanese Bocce Club. The former is an ode to classic Italian cuisine set inside a regal dining room inspired by the villas of Northern Italy, complete with a large-scale mural and views of the marina and Lake Boca Raton. The indoor and outdoor seating options give guests the chance to dine on fresh house-made pastas and enjoy a worldclass wine list, while taking in the lakeside scenery. Options are sharable, and in fact, sharing is encour aged, says Chef Andrew Roenbeck, the property’s longstanding director of culinary operations and resort executive chef.
“There’s an incredibly talented team that developed the menu at Principessa Ristorante,” says Roenbeck, noting that Mario Carbone of Major Food Group was instrumental in honing in on a concept. “The energy and the focus that’s put on Principessa Ristorante to source the best ingredients is impressive.”
In Roenbeck’s more than 30 years at The Boca Ra ton, he has encouraged each dining concept to have its own specific theme and focus. Case in point, Prin cipessa Ristorante transports diners to Italy, and the new Japanese Bocce Club takes guests to the Far East. Helmed by Chef Takao Soejima, a master-level sushi chef, the restaurant features a streamlined design, as dreamed up by celebrated architecture firm Rockwell Group, which includes a 10-seat bar counter for diners to observe how sushi chefs like Soejima construct their art. Some of the fresh sushi-grade seafood is flown in from as far away as the seas off Japan and New Zealand, with several high-quality locally caught fish options, and sushi rice is made in house in a specific, very detailed process that must meet Chef Soejima’s precise standards.
Japanese Bocce Club’s namesake is the bocce court just outside the restaurant. The Boca Raton gives bocce its own spin by allowing diners to enjoy indooroutdoor interactive sessions that will include plenty of energy and hype—and appeal to all ages.
Harborside Pool Club will also be home to two additional dining experiences, Harbor House and Burger Bar. Considered the final phase at the brandnew pool club, the two restaurants bring to fruition the transformation of the entire area.
Harbor House serves cuisine that has become syn onymous with South Florida through a distinctly Flo ribbean menu heavily influenced by South American, Caribbean, Cuban and American flavors. Designed

Club members and guests arrive at Harbor House by way of the newly enhanced promenade along the Intracoastal, which means you can enjoy the restaurant any time of day, regardless of whether you are at Pool Club.
“Harbor House has a strong sense of place,” Roen beck says. “A person who dines at Harbor House is the type of person who says, ‘I want a taste of South Florida cuisine.’”
Roenbeck says the restaurant features a bit of every thing: entrée salads, ceviche and local fish caught that day, steaks, hearty burgers and more. The menu can be at once considered casual, but also “elevated with a great bottle of wine,” says Roenbeck, who notes that select nights include live music or a DJ.
The final addition is Burger Bar, opening this winter adjacent to Harbor House. A decidedly more casual establishment, Burger Bar will be what its name implies: a grab-and-go location devoted to high-quality burgers and similar foods, like chicken tenders, griddle hot dogs, Impossible Burgers, and creative French fries and onion rings. The quickservice eatery’s highlight will be a smash burger that
Roenbeck says includes what he calls “sneaky onions,” or minced onions combined with dehydrated mush room porcini powder for a healthy dose of vegetables. Another fun and optional inclusion will be Whickle Pickles, sweet and spicy pickles that add a friendly touch of heat. Dessert options will include the Boca Whip, a soft-serve fruit ice cream, and milkshakes.
President and CEO Daniel Hostettler says the addi tion of these new culinary options fully illustrates how specialized each of the property’s entire family of res taurants is under A World of Flavor. “Positioning the property as a world-class club and a leisure-focused resort, you have to have an emphasis on elevated dining, and we’re proud to present this portfolio of restaurants to our members and guests.”
MAISON ROSE
Tucked into the historic Cloister Lobby, Mai son Rose (ABOVE) is a gourmet macaron and chocolate shop overflowing with chocolate riches. Glass-enclosed cases brim with more than 20 varieties of artisan truffles and a colorful display of elegant French macarons, velvety hot chocolate and The Boca Raton’s signature Bocaroons, coconut cookies that date back to the days of famed architect Addison Mizner. Enjoy the elegant variety of confections right away, or box them up to give to loved ones on your return home.
DOWN THE COAST
ON MIAMI
Six Things To Love About Miami Design District
BY NILA DO SIMONAN EASY DAY TRIP from Boca Raton, the Greater Miami area includes an array of artful and cultural diversions. Visitors to Miami have plenty of reasons to explore the highest levels of art all year round, but winter is particularly notable, as globally recognized creatives descend to the region for multiday programming that includes the annual Art Basel Miami Beach. Art Basel has become a glorious, energetic spectacle of contemporary and modern art. The multiday festival begins in early December, but the buzz and pomp lingers well beyond those dates to engulf the entire South Florida region with a spirited jolt of art. And people plan for it all year round.
The Miami Design District (MDD) is a vibrant neighborhood that comes alive with public art, fashion shows, exhibitions, designer showcases and creative events during this special art week. Dani de Cespedes, MDD’s personal shopper, is at the heart and soul of the neighborhood, having seen the growth of the area firsthand. The MDD describes Cespedes on its website: “Her passion lies in curating everything from your family gifting strategy to your next dinner out; she knows the ins and outs of the MDD’s inventory and the latest additions to Miami’s hot dining scene.”
Cespede’s eye for design and longstanding roots in MDD make her the ultimate expert on the dis trict’s “must-see” spots, which include high-quality art, on-trend retailers and a cultural oasis. Here, we present her top six destinations, along with some inside perspective.
1Cult Gaia is more than just clothing; it’s a museum of wearable art. This brand goes beyond the normal confines of fashion to create a world of clothing that makes you look twice. I love to shop here for my clients, because this store is unique to Miami Design Dis trict and truly unique to the industry as a whole. The brand’s sculptural ac cessories, objet d’art ready-to-wear and garden-inspired store design make it one of MDD’s most ethereal spots.
Netscape by German artist Kon stantin Grcic is the perfect place in the neighborhood to take your lunch break or relax in between shopping. This web of hanging chairs has 24 suspended seats that mimic ham mocks, perfect for a midday swing.
The interactive work consists of a six-point star-shaped modular steel frame, and seats made of fiberglass and polypropylene netting.
Museum Garage is a concept entirely distinct to the MDD. Acting as a func tional parking garage under the guise of an interactive museum, the Garage was commissioned in 2015 by MDD founder and developer Craig Robins, who tapped architect and curator Terence Riley to develop the concept. Riley brought de signers together from around the world to create a surrealist environment inspired by the parlor game Exquisite Corpse. Each participating architect was eventu ally assigned [an exterior] area to build out and given free rein to create their individual designs, all of which magically come together in the playful experience that is Museum Garage.
4Contessa is the latest restaurant by Major Food Group (also a partner of The Boca Raton) to open in Miami's Design District, joining several oth ers throughout the city. Described as having the “old-world sophistication of Northern Italy’s iconic resorts and estates,” the byword here is glamor and fine Italian cuisine, including a Carpaccio of Chianina Beef, “the most coveted Italian prosciutto,” as well as signature pizzas and pastas. Contessa also boasts a robust wine list, finely crafted cocktails and a lively and sophisticated Miamiesque atmosphere.
5Dollar A Gallon III is a sculp ture by late artist Virgil Abloh, presenting a window into the art ist’s study on the effect of adver tising on the impressionable. Off Paseo Ponti adjacent to Dolce & Gabbana, the sculpture’s frame work is reminiscent of a gasoline sign relaying information about various types of gasoline and the respective pricing, while also being the commodity of an advertised sponsor. Ultimately, the work is an example of Abloh’s extreme artistry and influence on the community.
6Whenever I want to show off Miami Design District’s robust dining selection, I almost always recommend COTE . This Korean bar becue is the only restaurant in the entire state of Florida that claims two Michelin stars—and the cuisine truly speaks for itself. This unique and convivial atmosphere infuses a fine dining experience with world-class ingredients and service, complemented with a show-stopping cocktail selection.

The Boca Raton Club Played an Important Role in Our War Years
BY SUSAN GILLISTHE BOCA RATON may be best known as a luxury resort and private club over its long history—but there was a time when luxury took a backseat to service, and that time was during World War II. It was then that the storied hotel signed up to help the Army in tiny Boca Raton, Florida, for as long as it was needed.
It was in March of 1942 that the Army Air Force Technical Training Command decided to move its newly established radar training school from its temporary quarters at Morrison Field in West Palm Beach to nearby Boca Raton. The government began acquiring 5,820 acres in Boca, then a small farm town with a population of roughly 750 people.
Boca Raton was chosen for several reasons, including its rela tively “high ground” and the fact that it boasted a small airport and two railroad lines that could bring in men and material. The new Boca Raton Army Air Field stretched from Palmetto Park Road on the south to north of Yamato, and from the F.E.C. Railroad tracks on the east to the Seaboard (now Amtrak) tracks on the west. While the base was under construction, however, the military needed a temporary home, and therefore leased the exclusive Boca Raton Club, now The Boca Raton, for housing and operations between 1942 and 1944.
The Boca Raton Club opened in 1926 as the Cloister Inn, ar chitect Addison Mizner’s acclaimed hotel on the western shores of Lake Boca Raton. After two years, the hotel was acquired by Clar ence Geist, who tripled the size of the hotel with additions by the New York firm Schultze and Weaver, designers of the Breakers and the Biltmore. The Boca Raton Club was one of the most
and private destinations in America at the time. Even during the Depression, the wealthy could visit what was billed as “Florida’s Secret Paradise” in off-the-beaten-path little Boca Raton, as sured of their privacy from paparazzi and prying eyes. The resort boasted two golf courses on either side of Camino Real, tennis courts, a Moorish-style swimming pool, ornate public rooms and elegant suites. The hotel’s beach access was down the road on A1A south of the inlet at the “Cabana Club.” In preparation for the military, staff members packed up the antique furnishings, rolled up the carpets, and padded the decorative columns.
A Tampa Tribune article from May 15, 1942, was headlined “Army to Lease Swanky Resort on East Coast.” Alvin Thiele sent a postcard from the Club to his parents in South Fallsburg, New York, in May of 1943. He wrote: “Pictures don’t lie so here is just what the club looks like. Only add in a million beautiful colors and mild weather and there you have it. There are much larger grounds etc. around here, too. Keep this as a memory of my stay here in Boca Raton.” Apparently they did, because in 1986 Alvin donated the postcard to the Boca Raton Historical Society.
On the other hand, by the summer of ’43 conditions had gotten a bit less glamorous. Cadet Wilbur Bell recalled helping remove

the rugs and cleaning the cement floors until they shined. Manny Chavez noticed the lack of furnishings as well, except for the old painted headboards from the Mizner era. Eventually the Toomey and Flynn-designed golf course south of Camino Real became riddled with foxholes and tents where new recruits spent their first few weeks. The beautiful Garden Pool, a Schultze and Weaver design at the south end of the prop erty, was used for recreation but also waterborne landing training. The Valencia Room was used for training films as well as Hollywood movies. There were as many as 2,000 cadets stationed there at a time—eight bunk beds in every room.
Louis Mikunda remembered that after PT (physical training) at 3:30 in the humid afternoon heat of Boca Raton, there was no water pressure above the second floor—because everyone turned on the taps at the same time—so the guys filled the tubs with water before PT and took turns with bathwater after PT. They decided their turns by lottery, and the loser also had to clean the bathroom for possible inspection after din ner. A temporary stockade (basically tents) stood
at the rear of the hotel. Gerald Weiss served stockade duty and recalled being attacked by flying critters while he stood in a guard tower. He learned the locals called these “palmetto bugs.”
The cadets came to attend officers’ candidate school, and to learn the basics of the new topsecret technology of radar. Their days were full of classes—sometimes under the palm trees— survivalist training, and PT. Local kids Peter Barrett and Buddy Lamont observed the soldiers on the golf courses standing at attention; many fainted in the Florida heat and humidity. When they returned to their quarters they made sure to “salute the lady”—the iconic statue by sculptor Ettore Pellagata at the center of the courtyard fountain—before going inside.
Among the cadets in 1943 were roughly 28 young African-Americans who would later become part of the famed Tuskegee Airmen. It was the days of segregation in a basically southern town; the hotel had never hosted any persons of color as guests; the Black soldiers were bunked together.
By 1944, BRAAF no longer needed the Club, and the lease expired. The new owner, hotelier J.

Myer Schine, took over the hotel and actually welcomed guests in January of 1945. It also continued to serve as an upscale officer’s club hosting parties for the military brass.
Most importantly, the Club served as a hurricane shelter for soldiers and townies during the storms of 1944, 1945 and 1947. The latter year was a particularly wet one in South Florida, which at the time was largely agricultural. On September 7, Hurricane George came ashore at Fort Lauderdale as a Category 4, one of the worst hurricanes in the state’s history. The storm knocked over the
wooden structures of the Boca Raton Army Air Field like dominoes. Hundreds of civilians and soldiers huddled together at the hotel, and the military provided food and other supplies.
Three weeks later Hurricane King dumped even more rain in the region. The result was inland flooding—as much as 15 inches—from Hialeah to Palm Beach County. The Boca Raton Club survived, but the beachfront Cabana Club was demolished, and had to be rebuilt. The two storms helped hurry the closure of the airbase, and most personnel and operations were removed to Biloxi, Mississippi. Captain Jim Vaughter was one of the officers in charge of shutting down the base. The balance of the officer’s club funds was scheduled to be sent to Washington to go into
the general funds—but the guys had other ideas. Instead, they decided to blow it all on a killer bash at the hotel, where they were served “flam ing food” and there was a waiter for each couple! They danced the night away, and the party didn’t end until 2 a.m. Sunday.
The runways of the base became the Boca Raton Auxiliary Air Force Base until 1959, and eventually Florida Atlantic University. The Boca Raton Club morphed into the Boca Raton Hotel and Club (now known as The Boca Raton), no longer a military haven but once again an ex clusive destination for the rich and famous. The men who were stationed there never forgot their time in Florida and their brush with Mizner’s secret paradise.

WEDDING Song
BY NILA DO SIMON PHOTOGRAPHY BY EVAN RICH Genna Rodney and Brenden Cohen create a dreamy wedding dedicated to music, Mykonos and making memories.EVERYONE KNOWS THAT rain during a wedding is a sign of good fortune, a signal that a marriage will last for many years; after all, a knot that is wet is harder to loosen than one that is dry. If that’s the case, then it’s a good thing that Genna Rodney and Brenden Cohen’s May 14, 2022 nuptials began with a torrential summer rainshower.
In the end, nothing could dampen the spirits of the 250-guest wedding, a multiday fête that saw the wedding party take in various parts of The Boca Raton’s grounds and amenities, including a kickoff soirée on the Intracoastal aboard their friends’ 100-foot yacht Due Process, which docks at the resort’s Marina.
Brenden and Genna met in New York City— where Genna works as a digital marketing manager for Moroccanoil and Brenden is the CEO of the iconic brand D’Angelico Guitars and Supro amps. The two met through friends, and by December 2019, a global romance was launched, sending the two packing to Malibu and then getting engaged in May 2021 at a remote location on the island of Mykonos, Greece, surrounded by close friends. It was a memorable setting—and one that would serve as inspiration for their wedding.
“We wanted to bring multiple vibes to our wed ding, including the energy and beachy setting of Mykonos,” says Genna, who mentioned the pair’s love of live concerts and connection to music as fac tors they wanted to incorporate into their wedding weekend.
The couple knew there was no better setting to satisfy their vision than The Boca Raton. With friends and family on the East Coast, the couple wanted a location that was not only beautiful but easy to access. After all, Brenden had grown up in Boca Raton, and his parents still live at Mizner Grand, so it all made perfect sense.
To kick off the festivities, their best friends Ga brielle and John Ferolito hosted an intimate sunset dinner and cocktail party on their yacht Due Pro cess for the wedding parties and close family. They even flew in DJ Giorgios Karras from Alemagou, one of their favorite venues in Mykonos. “We want ed everyone to have fun, and music set that vibe for different types of atmospheres,” Brenden says.
They followed up the sunset cruise the following night with a welcome party at The Flamingo Grill, renting out the entire restaurant and creating a romantic setting with candles lining the staircase up to the restaurant. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with Champagne and light bites. While living in California, the pair frequently visited Santa Barbara’s iconic gardens and wanted to bring that inspiration to The Flamingo Grill, infusing the restaurant with pink, white and green flower arrangements designed by in-house florist Boca By Design. Cocktail hour was hosted on the back patio overlooking the championship-level golf course, followed by a buffet dinner and a second appearance by the DJ from Mykonos— for plenty of dancing.
For the big day, both bride and groom knew the threat of rain could interrupt their outdoor ceremony, which was to take place at Cloister Garden. When rain was imminent, they switched plans for the majestic indoor setting of the Cathedral. To set the tone, their two bernadoodles, Ziggy and Layla, gleefully trotted down the white-carpeted aisle lined with white roses. Then Brenden, dressed in a white dinner jacket and black pants, and the wedding party, walked to the earthy ballad “Angel Dream” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The bride, a vision in a long-sleeved white lace Monique Lhuillier gown, proceeded down the aisle to “Higher Love” by James Vincent McMorrow. After the couple made it official, Brenden broke the glass under a chuppah adorned with
eucalyptus, monstera leaves, white roses, white phalaenopsis orchids and hydrangeas. The party was about to begin.
“You can never predict the Florida weather, and rain could potentially happen,” Genna says. “But you know what they say, rain brings good luck!”
After the ceremony, guests made their way to Palm Court for cocktail hour, where the music kept going with a pianist and saxophonist. Saint James Iced Tea, the new beverage venture from Brenden, Ferolito and others, poured throughout cocktail hour and reception.
Then the doors opened to the Cathedral for the reception and, as Genna puts it, “It was exactly what we had envisioned. The room was completely lit up by candles surrounded by beautiful white flowers spread across round and rectangular tables. We wanted the room to feel very romantic and to have a garden party feel. Candles were placed across every table, the bars and the window sills to give that feeling.”
The couple danced their first dance as a married pair to Norwegian DJ Kygo’s “Never Let You Go,” followed by music of the 16-piece band LA Starz— outfitted, of course, with D’Angelico Guitars. Once midnight hit, close friend and wedding guest Brian Cook (aka DJ Pip Rock) DJ’d the rest of the night.
The weekend festivities concluded with a farewell brunch on the upstairs patio of Beach Club, where most guests had reserved their accommodations. While they say all good things must come to an end, Brenden summed up the celebration as only a man in love could: “I thought it was beautiful.”

THE SERGIO TOUCH
For Nancy Sergio , right, The Boca Raton’s director of catering and conference services, the sky is truly the limit when it comes to cel ebrations and events. The Certified Meeting Planner has been leading a team of seasoned event professionals for many years, and by her own admission has seen it all. Here, she describes what makes The Boca Raton a truly memorable location for a celebration.
What types of celebrations have you seen over the years?
We’ve done it all, including weddings, sweet 16 birthday parties, christenings, bris cer emonies, a private dinner or event with our chef, interactive cooking demonstrations in our kitchens, a tailgating party with Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, fireworks and laser shows, team-building events at the golf course with our Toptracer tracker, and pretty much any thing else you can think of.
Where are some unique venues on property?
It’s important for us to give options to our clients. For example, we had a family whose three kids got married here, and we had to find three different venues for them. By far, the most popular venue is our Cathedral, an indoor space that truly resembles a cathedral. There are also more unique areas, like the golf course and the tennis courts, where we’ve hosted cocktail events and group activities.
How do you incorporate the tropical setting?
We do a lot at Beach Club, including on the beach, on the pool deck and inside Beach Club’s ballroom that accommodates 120 people. We have a lawn in front of the beach that is popular for a more relaxed setting. In addition, we’ve hosted parties on yachts and at the marina.
What are some additional ways to make an event memorable at The Boca Raton?
At Harborside Pool Club, we offer buy-outs of cabanas or the garden rooftop, where you can
have the entire space for your private event. For those looking for a girl’s day with a group, you can make a day at Spa Palmera, including enjoying lunch at the spa garden.
Your career at The Boca Raton has spanned decades. How do you keep such a refreshed outlook to your work?
You learn over the years that the people com ing in have their specific ideas on what they need or want, and those are learning points for us. That’s the fun in doing this: exploring, not doing the same thing every day, and building relationships.
Parties for adults can be fun, but kidthemed celebrations can be memorable. Tell us about some kid parties over the years.
We host a lot of bar and bat mitzvahs. A recent one was what we categorize as over the top. What made it unique is that the kids and par ents really wanted to have fast food delivered to the celebration, so our chef arranged with each of the fast-food options to arrive piping hot. We even had servers decked out in the respective restaurants’ attire.
How do the property’s restaurants accommodate private events?
The restaurants all have their own qualities they can offer...They all have private rooms:
For example, The Flamingo Grill has a private room with a veranda that looks out over the golf course, Principessa Ristorante overlooks Lake Boca Raton with stunning views, and MB Supper Club has built-in entertainment and an outdoor patio on Spanish Terrace. It’s truly up to the client.

Jeff Wilson Waterfront Specialist Douglas Elliman Real EstateWith a distinguished telltale radio voice, Jeff Wilson captures his clients’ attention immediately with the utterance of just a few syllables, followed by his exuberant tales of a childhood spent in Puerto Rico, where he learned to SCUBA dive and explore the wonders beneath the sea. His teen years led to a fascination and appreciation for the architecture of homes that speckled the coastline. “So, I joined two of my passions to become “Your Neighbor on the Water,” as I work on the water and live on the water,” Wilson explains.
Following his mother’s early advice to do what you love for a living, Wilson gets dressed in his business suit, not a bathing suit, and heads to work on his boat, appropriately named Another Lifestyle. “I love sharing my knowledge about this incredible lifestyle with my clients,” he says.
As a listing agent and Director of Luxury Sales covering Lighthouse Point to Delray Beach, Wilson is a concierge Realtor who handles every aspect of the sale, preparing clients’ homes for sale before drawing up the contract, making sure the property is as enticing as the tropical backdrop.
Along with his love of real estate, Wilson is an accomplished 4th Degree Black Belt, a discipline that keeps him focused and fit—and up to every challenge his profession presents.
“I love helping people achieve success and reach their real estate goals by creating the life they want. That includes finding my clients their piece of paradise as they transition into their next home in South Florida,” he says. 561-289-3656 jeff.wilson@elliman.com
JASON NUTTLE Marisela CotillaExecutive Director of Luxury Sales
Rachelle Hirt BereshExecutive Director of Luxury Sales
Scott Gerow
Executive Director of Luxury Sales
Cotilla Beresh Gerow Luxury Team
With more than $360 million in luxury residential sales in 2021 alone, Marisela Cotilla, Rachelle Beresh and Scott Gerow, have come together as seasoned industry veterans to form the powerhouse partnership of The Cotilla Beresh Gerow Luxury Team.
With a relationship-driven approach to business, The CBG Luxury Team’s principles and professionalism have helped them cultivate a strong sphere of clientele in the competitive Boca Raton market.
“After years of working together with passion and dedication, it was important for us to come together at one table, under one roof,” said Marisela Cotilla. “We are an experienced group of equals, founded on the common commitment to service our clients seamlessly and at the highest level.”
The CBG Luxury Team explains that the current landscape of buyers is not only hailing from traditional markets like New York and Chicago, but that South Florida is also seeing an influx of Californians making the decision to move East.
Aside from the obvious motivation of lower taxes and year-round warm weather, the recent realities of the pandemic have brought the demand of the luxury Florida lifestyle to the forefront. Buyers are finally asking themselves, ‘Why wait?’
The Team noted that a million-dollar property previously represented the luxury market classification. Today, everything from single-family homes to new developments are trading well over a million dollars. As the demand continues to increase, so does the value.
“Our mantra is ‘Who you work with matters,’ said Cotilla. “We demonstrate this by providing an elevated level of service to our clients. Through extraordinary market knowledge, superior technology tools and a client-first approach, we see ourselves more as advisors than brokers.”
As an extension of their passion, Marisela, Rachelle and Scott discuss South Florida real estate and beyond on their weekly podcast, “The Sunny Side”, available on most streaming services. You can visit their store-front office in the heart of downtown Boca Raton at 307 SE Mizner Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33432.
