Have You Taught Your Dog These Commands Yet?

Dogs are arguably the best creatures in the world. Not only do they make our lives easy, their mere presence is enough in turning a dull face into a bright and lively one. Dogs have so many good qualities that we can imbibe. One such quality is fast learning. They are quick learners and if you teach them a command or two, be sure to see them follow it within a few days, if not a few hours. Here’s a list of some commands that every dog parent should teach their four-legged friend.

1. Good At times, it’s always good to appreciate the great work your pal does in listening to your commands. The “good” command is like an acknowledgement that your buddy is listening to your commands and doing them correctly. https://www.canadapetcare.com/

2. Go Inside Some dog breeds have this knack of staying outdoors for long periods of time. The “go inside” command which happens to be a simple “point (with your finger) at the front door” becomes useful in such moments. 3. Go Out There are lazy dogs who wouldn’t mind spending the entire day sleeping or loitering indoors. This isn’t good as body fat accumulates which can pose a problem in the future. To such dogs, the “go out” command should be taught. It will force him to take his lazy ass out and play, if not stroll outdoors. 4. Stand The “stand” command can be taught by first allowing your buddy to master the sit down command. Once your canine friend is well versed with the sit command, teach him the stand up one. You can do so by luring him with tasty treats. 5. Attention Sometimes all that you want is your dog’s attention, and that too can at times be hard to get. In such a scenario, the attention command is all that you have to grab your pal’s attention. This command can also be used when you need your Fido to pay attention to something important. 6. Eat We know how much our dogs love to eat but some breeds are picky and may refrain from eating. It can get on your nerves and to put such a situation to bed, the “eat” command can prove very effective. Making your dog get accustomed to the “eat” command may require a bit of effort on your part. 7. Go Search If you want your dog to stay focussed and alert then the “go search” command must be taught. This command also helps your pal strengthen his sense of smell which can come in handy during crunch situations like say, a burglary. 8. Walk A simple command which can be taught easily by keeping your furry pal on a leash and slowly walking beside him. Make sure to encourage him while you take small steps. Treat him too so that your lil friend knows he’s doing it correctly.

9. Give Me Your Paw This command is a nice way to teach your pal some etiquette. Known as the “handshake” or “give me your paw” command, this can only be taught with ample practice. A dog lending out his hand to you for a handshake is one of the cutest things you can imagine. So why not teach your pal that? 10. Okay The “okay” command is a mere acknowledgement to your pal that whatever he is doing is absolutely right. While training your pal with commands, it is necessary to teach him the okay command so that your pal is aware of his good deeds. 11. Quiet Controlling your dog’s barking is pivotal especially when situations call for silence. The “quiet” or “hush” command once taught will help you gain control of your dog’s bark and prevent him from barking in situations he isn’t supposed to. 12. Off The “off” command is simply teaching your dog to get off people or merely commanding him to get his paws off the furniture. It is a pretty useful command and should be taught to your furry friend. While teaching your pal commands is essential, having patience is important too. Not all dogs are same and some might even take weeks before mastering one command. Be patient because after all, slow and steady wins the race.
