Intent
Inspirational image The intent for this project was to express a classy vintage look that would appeal to both the older generations that enjoyed the classic Pacific look, but would also appeal to the younger generation who enjoy the look that craft breweries have to offer in their product packaging. The client wanted to show movement to appeal to the sports crazed drinkers, but I feared that going too far in that direction would take away from the sophisticated design I had in mind.
The closest thing to the end.
Trying some different options.

Mock-Ups
This was a good started, except it reminded me of mint chocolate chip.
PACIFIC
A good direction except the pine cone didn’t make sense to many people.
This was a different direction that I tried to go in, but didn’t work out.
The AH-HA moment that just needed better typography.

Rationale
Final ISO 9001
PILSNER The rationale behind this design is to maintain the vintage, serene, and accomplished look that would appeal to the older generations that have grown up with the Pacific name. I also wanted to appeal to a new generation that enjoy vintage looks and bright, fun colours that are on craft beer labels. I also wanted to maintain a design of movement to make the client happy; they wanted a style that would look great to sports enthusiast. I didn’t want there to be a person doing beach activities, as I was afraid that it would take away from the design I had pictured. The design was to say Pacific while still having the subtlety of class and the gentlemen era.

I enjoyed this project, I was looking forward to it, and wasn’t disappointed. I was able to learn new techniques and saw them really enhance my project. The field trip to the liquor store was a incredibly good idea because we were able to see how the final product would look on the shelf, as well as how the competition looked. I was nervous going into this project because I wasn’t 100% sure about the audience that I had to appeal to. I’m not an avid sports watcher or player and had no idea what sport-like men did in their free time. Once I was able to pick the direction that I wanted to go into I was really able to dive right in. Happy with the results and the journey that I took to get her. Cheers!
