Refreshing in Cape May, NJ By Yuxuan Jia

ape May, a small seaside town in New Jersey, just like what I imaged about this place before I been there. When I first arrived in Cape May on Friday night, the long beech line amazed me, and I felt like I can just keep walking on it forever. Even the sky was getting dark, but a lot of people were still walking on the beech, several men were fishing. The houses there were so different with Philadelphia. There were no tall buildings, instead, most of them were just two to three floors houses, and some of them were decorated creatively. People on the street were very nice too, and many of them would smile to me when we had eye contact. My favorite part in Cape May is the Lighthouse on west side of the beech, and this was my first time saw a real lighthouse. But the most unforgettable experience was shooting the sunrise. I never sew a sunrise before, and I always when to have the chance to watch one. However, it rained whole day on Saturday, and I worried so much about if I can still get the sunrise footage. So when I woke up on Sunday morning and realized I can see the stars on the sky, I knew I can get it, and I do. Sunday turned out to be a really nice day, and many people were hanging out on the beech. A group of surfers were surfing on the coast.

Mystic Mermaid is a rental house on Cape May, and they also put a Mermaid Xing sign outside the house.

First Presbyterian Church is the first church on Cape May, and it was called Visiter’s Church at first.

Maybe because I was raised on a seaside city, I just love the ocean so much. Even it was cold on Sunday, I still ran into the water, and let the clear seawater wash my feet, and my heart.
