YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES Miracle League Baseball

The Miracle League of Wichita provides an opportunity for children ages 5-18 with special needs to play baseball. With a specially designed rubber surface field, The Miracle League makes dreams come true for children of all abilities. Coed Rugby Join this no contact “flag� version of rugby that introduces boys and girls to basic skills and game play. ADULT SPORTS LEAGUES Adult Coed Kickball League

Come and relive your childhood glory days with this classic recess game! Kickball is a fun and purely recreational game that will get your heart rate up while keeping your stress level down. The season is six weeks with 12 games (double headers). Games will be played on Wednesday evenings. Registration Begins: December 31 Registration Ends: March 29 Fee: $350 per team Season Starts: April 3 Location: South Lakes Softball Complex

City of Wichita Golf League Two-player teams face off against an opposing twosome for nine holes each Sunday. The team’s lowest score on each hole is added to determine their overall score. Teams are handicapped and put into flights after the second week of play. This league takes place over eight Sundays. Play rotates between all Wichita Public Golf Courses. Fees must be paid in advance to eliminate forfeits. Green fees are included in your registration fee. Ages 14+. Junior Group Lessons The Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center has an extensive youth program that builds skills quickly and allows participants to achieve success in a fun and fast paced atmosphere. All participants are grouped by ability and must register by session. Director approval is required to move into the next level. Sessions run one month and fee/ session is $40-$50 depending on the number of weeks.

Adult Group Lessons Fit Tennis Players of all levels can improve tennis performance and fitness levels all at once by combining basic tennis drills with cardiovascular exercise. Put your shots into practice with fun tennis games, then add a variety of fitness activities such as the medicine ball, jump ropes and other equipment. GLADIATOR GAMES

Let the games begin! Each contender will compete in a series of physical events such as the joust and water balloon challenge. Campers will ultimately attempt to survive the Gladiator’s fire of nerf guns and tennis balls during The Eliminator, while attempting to hit the Gladiator’s bull’s eye target. Out of school? Get into our camp! Don’t stress with what to do with the kiddos during those in-service days! Linwood, Edgemoor and Orchard Recreation Centers provide licensed and supervised day care for children ages 6-13.

Kids will enjoy sports, games, crafts, and other activities during in-service days from school!

Parents can rest easy with this safe and affordable option. Extended hours allow for before and after work pick up and drop off. Kids bring their own lunch and drink daily. Information:

Wichita City Council & Board of Park Commissioners Wichita City Council The City Council is made up of six elected officials representing six different areas of Wichita. City Councilors propose, vote on and pass the laws that govern the city.

City Council meetings are held the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays at 9:00 am in the Council Chambers in City Hall. Meetings are not held if the Tuesday falls on a holiday or if it is the 5th Tuesday of the month.

Refund Policies

Class Cancellations

Once a written withdrawal request is received, the refund/ credit amount is determined based on the request date. Refunds may take up to three weeks to process. The $1 online registration convenience fee is non-refundable.

Classes canceled by Wichita Park & Recreation due to low enrollment or unexpected circumstances are entitled to a full refund/credit. If your course is canceled, we will attempt to notify you by phone or email prior to the first class. You may also apply the class fee to another course. To withdraw from a class, submit a written request to bmcguire@wichita.gov, fax to 316.858.7611 or drop off at any recreation center. Include the student’s name, contact information, class information and tell us the reason for the request. Withdrawal forms are also available at Wichita.gov/ ParkandRec.

Inclement Weather

Every effort is made to maintain standard operations during inclement weather. However, if a class cancellation is necessary, we will attempt to notify you by phone or email. All efforts are made to reschedule canceled classes.

Register Early!

Credits placed on your recreation account are available until the end of each calendar year, at which time a refund will be issued, less a $5 administrative fee.

Reserve your spot by registering at least three days prior to the class start date. Payment is due when registering. Decisions affecting classes are made in advance, so register early to prevent an unnecessary class cancellation! Late registrations will be accepted if space and materials are available.
