Giving Until I Can’t

- Testimony from Harvest Partner Al Jagger Al Jagger is 95 years old and has been a Christian nearly all of his life. He and his late wife, Virginia, have a wonderful family legacy of faithfulness to Christ.

For years, Al—who was a successful businessman—has known the importance of tithing and giving generously. He has a passion for sharing the gospel with everyone he meets, and is personally responsible for over 70,000 yard signs each year during an outreach program.

Recently, Al received a JESUS Film Harvest Partners catalog in the mail. As he thumbed through it, his interest was piqued.

As he learned more about the Bike and a Backpack equipment, Partner trips, team sponsorships, and the effectiveness of JESUS Film teams, he began to support JFHP. Since he first received that catalog, Al has sponsored a bike and a backpack, and will sponsor a team for at least 15 years after a property sale finalizes. As Al says,

Launching 147 New Teams

“I don’t have a lot of years left on this planet, so I want to do all I can to help people come to know Jesus.

And I want it to continue after I leave to be with Him.” Thanks to Al Jagger and all the other Harvest Partners who make the JESUS Film Teams ministry to reach the lost possible.

JESUS Film Harvest Partners has received initial requests from the field to begin 147 new teams in 2014. God is working in exciting and amazing ways, and these teams have seen the need and want to be a part of the harvest! But they need your help. Going Where the Church is Not Ten thousand and six.

That is the number of villages in one east Asia country identified by JESUS Film team leaders that remain unreached with the gospel.

In many of these communities, the people are oral learners. Because of this, the JESUS Film serves as the perfect introduction to Christ.

“The movie is an excellent tool for [people] to concentrate on and remember the simple message they hear,” a local leader said.

“People believe things more by watching than by hearing or reading.

“We have noticed [many] people worship natural powers. They make idols of these powers as their gods and goddesses, and worship them - believing these deities can do any miraculous thing at any time.

With this simple faith in their minds, they watch the JESUS Film [and see] the miraculous power of Jesus.

“On viewing the deeds of Jesus and hearing about His love for mankind, they begin to think that Jesus must be more powerful than their gods because they haven’t seen any of their gods giving life to dead people. This becomes the turning point in their positive thoughts about the existence of Jesus.

“I accepted Christ and I don’t have any other way.

That’s what the young man said, standing in line to be baptized in the river, when a church leader in eastern India asked him why he wanted to be baptized.

This young man, named Soren, accepted Christ through a JESUS Film showing in 2003.

A while later, the church leader attended a youth camp and recognized Soren there. On the last day of the youth camp there was a preaching competition. Soren was so good that he won the first prize.

The church leader said, “I met the leader of that area and I asked him why don’t we send [Soren to Bible college] because he is very good at preaching. But the pastor replied, ‘How can we send him? He doesn’t know

Recently, the church leader went to find Soren and asked if he would consider planting a church. Soren replied he had already done so. He took the church leader to a small hut where he was pastoring six or seven families. The following year, this same church leader visited again and found the church had grown to about 20 families. Soon, on his own initiative, Soren planted a second church a few kilometers from his home.

My wife and I are in our retirement years and we were looking for some way we could do something with eternal significance during this chapter of our lives. Reaching the unreached peoples of the world through JFHP has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of our lives. I would highly recommend joining JFHP for a trip in the near future.

Panama Excursion

On July 3rd, 2013, during a JESUS Film Ministry Trip to Panama, our group had the privilege of witnessing the church take some of the first steps in establishing an ongoing ministry with the Kuna people in the Panamanian region of Madugandi. The Kuna are an indigenous people. We visited Akua Yala, a small Kuna community on Lake Bayano, in order to do children’s ministry.

We began setting up the equipment, and soon The Story of JESUS for Children played. In attendance were 145 people, and 100 of them made a decision to accept Christ, many of them children. As we were leaving, a man stopped us and told his story. He had drifted from Christ, but after the film that night, he was reconciled with God and eager to learn more about Him. He made a commitment to help with the ongoing work in the area.

It was a long day. The group danced to songs they didn’t understand and handed out sandwiches before setting up equipment. God was at work even through those simple things and an impact was made. The church is now welcome in Akua Yala, which serves as an access point to all the other communities along Lake Bayano.
