Free Yartzeit Dedication Project

Safely securing a world-class education with values that align with Jewish ideals

HONORING LOVED ONES THROUGH TORAH LEARNING

In a heartfelt and innovative move, TorahAnytime, a leading online platform for Torah learning, has launched a new initiative to honor the memory of loved ones who have passed away. This initiative allows families to dedicate Torah learning in memory of their departed relatives, providing a meaningful way to commemorate their legacy and impact.

For the first time ever, TorahAnytime will accept names and yartzeit (anniversary of death) dates of loved ones at no charge. On the designated yartzeit, all the learning on TorahAnytime, which amounts to over 30,000 hours of Torah study daily, will be dedicated in their memory. Additionally, the names of the departed will be prominently displayed on the TorahAnytime homepage, creating a lasting tribute.

“We believe there is no greater gift you can give to a loved one who has passed away than to learn Torah in their honor,” said Shimon Kolyakov, founder of TorahAnytime. “This initiative not only honors the memory of the deceased but also strengthens the spiritual

connection of their families and the entire Jewish community.”

HOW IT WORKS?

Participating in this initiative is simple and accessible. Families can submit the Hebrew or English yahrzeit date along with the year of passing, and TorahAnytime will handle the rest, including converting English dates to Hebrew if needed. To ensure a personalized experience, each household can submit up to eight names.

THE IMPACT OF TORAH LEARNING

Torah study has always been a fundamental aspect of Jewish life, serving as a source of spiritual strength and guidance. Dedicating Torah learning in memory of a loved one not only elevates their soul but also brings merit to the family and the community. This initiative by TorahAnytime offers a unique opportunity to connect with the timeless wisdom of the Torah while honoring those who have passed on.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

TorahAnytime encourages families and friends to take advantage of this unique opportunity and spread the

word within their communities. By participating, individuals can ensure that the legacy of their loved ones continues to inspire and uplift through the power of Torah study.

ABOUT TORAHANYTIME

TorahAnytime is a premier online platform providing access to a vast library of Torah classes and learning sessions. With thousands of hours of content available, TorahAnytime is dedicated to spreading Torah knowledge and fostering spiritual growth within the Jewish community. By making Torah learning accessible to all, TorahAnytime plays a crucial role in the spiritual development and education of Jews around the world.

In conclusion, TorahAnytime's new initiative to dedicate Torah learning in memory of loved ones is a beautiful and meaningful way to honor the deceased.

Finding Hope in the Darkness: What’s Our Secret?

A

Conversation with Rabbi Paysach Krohn, renowned author and lecturer, and Rabbi Eliezer Krohn, rabbinic counselor for PUAH

As Tisha B’Av approaches this year, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been struggling with a sense of hopelessness – a feeling of, “Will this ever end?”

After everything that’s happened?

After October 7th? After the missiles, the war, the frightening resurgence of global anti-Semitism?

Weren’t we all so certain, witnessing our incredibly powerful achdus in the weeks following Simchas Torah, that this was it – that the Geula was coming?

Yet now, once again, we’re here… sitting on the floor, mourning our state of Galus, crying for our tragedies, both new and ancient.

And once again, as we’ve done year after thousands of years, we will wipe our tears, pick ourselves up, and stride forward. Continuing to fight, continuing to daven, continuing to hope. Nachamu!

In his new book, From Sorrow to Celebration: The Three Weeks, Tisha B’Av and Tu B’Av (Artscroll), Rabbi Paysach Krohn, the Maggid of our generation, zeroes in on this

uniquely Jewish ability to find hope and optimism even in our pain.

I recently sat down for a conversation with Rabbi Paysach and his son Rabbi Eliezer, who, as rabbinic counselor for PUAH, sees this resilience every day on a very personal level, in the couples whom he guides on their fertility journey. The fatherson pair shared their insights, inspiration and, of course, their stories!

RABBI

KROHN, WAS THIS SEFER WRITTEN IN RESPONSE TO THE EVENTS OF OCTOBER 7TH?

R’ Paysach: Actually, not at all. It was in the making well before Simchas Torah. Following the, baruch Hashem,

successful publication of my Hagadah, At the Maggid’s Seder, which came out at the very beginning of Covid, Artscroll suggested I continue writing seasonal sefarim, with a mix of stories and inspiration. My next book was about Elul and the Yamim Noraim, and after that, we decided to write about the Three Weeks. However, I didn’t want to only write sad material, so I decided to expand it by including Shabbos Nachamu and Tu B’Av. I also have a section about the Gedolim whose yahrzeits fall out during the Three Weeks. This book has turned out to be the biggest I’ve ever written!

THIS HAS BEEN A YEAR FILLED WITH TRAGEDY AND A FRIGHTENING RISE IN GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM, BUT ALSO A YEAR OF MANY MIRACLES. AFTER EVERYTHING THAT’S HAPPENED, THERE’S BEEN A STRONG SENSE THAT THE FINAL GEULAH MUST BE ABOUT TO COME. B’EZRAS HASHEM, IT WILL SOON. YET, HERE IT IS, ABOUT TO BE TISHA B’AV ONCE AGAIN. HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THAT SENSE OF

Rabbi Paysach Krohn

DISAPPOINTMENT?

R’ Paysach: The hallmark of a Yid – our special koach – is that we believe in the future. Sometimes that future won’t happen for a long time, but we believe that ultimately, the good will come.

There’s an unbelievable story in my book about Rebbetzin Roiza Tauber, the mother of Rav Ezriel Tauber, noted speaker and writer and dean of the Shalheves Seminars. In the early 1940s, knowing the Nazis were about to invade their country of Czechoslovakia, they went into hiding. Now, here’s the amazing thing: during their four years in hiding, from 1940 – 1944, Rebbeztin Tauber gave birth to four babies! Her friends and relatives all thought she was crazy; why would a Jew want to bring more children into such a world when the chances were all but certain that they’d be killed?

In fact, in 1944, Rebbetzin Tauber was caught and deported to Auschwitz. Because she was expecting, Mengele ym”sh decided to keep her alive for medical “experimentation.” Her baby was killed as soon as she was born; as Rebbetzin Tauber would say later, that little daughter had the zechus to save her mother’s life. Hearing that mothers after birth were sent to the gas chambers, Rebbetzin Tauber escaped from the hospital two days postpartum and miraculously survived. Her

husband and four little sons survived as well.

While, like many survivors, she didn’t want to speak about her war experiences, when she was very elderly her son Rav Ezriel asked her how she could have brought children into the world during this terrible time. Did she really think they would survive?

She answered firmly, “We are Yidden! We don’t lose children! Don’t you know about Techiyas HaMeisim? We bring children into the world not merely for this world but for the future world. Every Jewish child is an eternity! Every neshama is forever!”

So when we look at the events that have happened this year, the main thing we need to hold on to is our emunah and bitachon. That a Yid can never give up. Here’s another story, about Rav Moshe Shapiro. The year was 1946 and he had recently gotten engaged. One day, he was walking with his kallah in a park in Yerushalayim, in back

of the Reich hotel, when they encountered an older man with a beautiful, warm smile. The man came over to the chassan and kallah and said, “Be happy, kinderlach! You are the mashal for how Hashem will be happy! Yasis alayich Elokayich –Hashem will rejoice over us, His nation, like a chassan rejoices over his kallah.”

After he walked away, Rav Moshe said to his kallah, “Do you know who that man was? He’s the Ponovezher Rav. He lost everything in the Holocaust. Yet he came to Eretz Yisrael to rebuild, and here he is, on a mission to spread happiness in the world. Because a Yid never gives up.”

RAV ELIEZER, I’M SURE YOU FIND A SIMILAR EMOTION WITH COUPLES EXPERIENCING INFERTILITY. WITH EVERY TREATMENT THEIR HOPES ARE RAISED, MAYBE THIS TIME WE’LL FINALLY SEE OUR PERSONAL GEULAH, ONLY TO BE DISAPPOINTED. HOW DO YOU HELP THEM DEAL WITH THIS DISAPPOINTMENT WHILE STILL RETAINING OPTIMISM FOR THE FUTURE?

R’ Eliezer: As a PUAH counselor, I deal with all sorts of cases. There are the couples who call with a straightforward issue, I guide them to the right doctor and the right solution, and, Baruch Hashem, they call a few months later to share

Rabbi Eliezer Krohn

the good news that they’re expecting.

But then there are the other cases. The couples struggling with a really tough situation who try again and again, only to experience one disappointment after another. Rav Chaim Soloveichik says that where hishtadlus ends, that’s where bitachon begins. It can be hard to know where to draw that line, but it’s essential that we have both elements. I help couples make the right medical decision for their particular situation. I’ll say, “Listen, Hashem can do anything. He can make you have a child with this procedure or without it. But in my opinion, this is the proper thing to do.”

Even when they experience setbacks and failures, they need to know that they made the best decisions they could, following the best medical guidance, and that we’re davening for their success. That’s all that any of us can do; Hashem does the rest.

Whatever the area we may be struggling in – whether fertility, shidduchim, parnassa, shalom bayis - we have to understand that, while we need to put in a certain amount of hishtadlus, after that it’s our job to sit back and realize that it’s all up to Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Never stop davening, never stop hoping, because nothing’s impossible when it comes to a Yid. Particularly in my work, I’ve seen it time and again. A

couple experiences another failed cycle, and another, and the next thing you know, she’s pregnant.

Rabbi Paysach: Rav Eliezer, who is also a mohel, has done many brises for babies who were born thanks to PUAH’s counseling. How incredible is that! This is the epitome of the theme “From Sorrow to Celebration.”

WHAT

ABOUT

THE TIMES

WHEN THERE REALLY DOES SEEM TO BE NO HOPE? WHAT DO YOU SAY TO A COUPLE IF THEY REACH THE END OF THE LINE AND HAVE RUN OUT OF OPTIONS?

Those cases are very tough. I’ve had many people cry to me over the phone and it breaks my heart. Unfortunately, there is pain in life and sometimes there’s nothing we can do about it.

The biggest gift I can give couples in this situation – and that we can give ourselves, if we find ourselves in such a circumstance, whatever our challenge may be – is to allow them to feel the pain, to understand that it’s okay to hurt, it’s okay to cry, and that we can continue on in life with the pain.

I’m there to listen, to cry with them, and also to alleviate any potential guilt by validating that they made the best decisions they could and put in their best effort.

CAN YOU LEAVE US WITH ONE FINAL THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON THIS TISHA B’AV? WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE CAN WE DO TO BRING GEULAH?

Rav Paysach: Rav Schwab writes an astounding idea in his sefer, Rav Schwab on Prayer, which I quote in my book. Every day, we ask Hashem to bring Moshiach with the words “Es tzemach David… tatzmiach” – may You cause the offspring of Your servant David to flourish. Chazal explain why the Geulah is compared to the flowering process – because a plant doesn’t grow overnight. It’s a long, slow process. And, Rav Schwab adds, a plant doesn’t grow on its own; it needs water.

Where’s the water for Moshiach? Our tears.

How sad is that? Think about it. How many people, when they daven, cry because they want Moshiach? We cry for parnassah, we cry for shidduchim, we cry to have children, we cry that we should raise our children properly… but who cries about Moshiach?

Rav Wolbe writes that during the Three Weeks, we should concentrate particularly intently on our tefillos to rebuild Yerushalayim, in Shemoneh Esreh and in bentching. Cry for Moshiach! That’s how we water the plant! What an insight… and what a responsibility.

When to Treat, When to Go to the ER, and When to Call the Plastic Surgeon

An exclusive interview with Dr. Jeremy White

It’s Friday afternoon and your precious 3-year-old daughter just tripped and fell outside by the pool. You hear the crash and she comes crying to you. There is blood everywhere and now, on top of the stress of Shabbos preparations, you now have a potential emergency on your hands. So what do you do? We had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Jeremy White to discuss everything stitches!

WHAT ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE FIRST STEP?

Apply pressure and a cold pack to try to slow the bleeding. Once the bleeding slows down, you can get a better sense of how extensive and deep the wound is. It can be helpful to take a photo at this point, if possible, to help in communicating with other doctors before they remove a bandage.

Different areas bleed more. which ones bleed the most? The scalp and areas near the bone around the eye tend to bleed the most and can be scary. Even a small cut can look like a bloody mess and run down the face, making you think that the injury is more extensive than the reality.

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON PLACE FOR SUTURES?

60-80% of pediatric lacerations occur in the head and neck with the most common areas being in the forehead and chin. Most people with a fun childhood growing up have some kind of scar on the chin to show for it.

WHAT WILL DETERMINE IF SUTURES ARE NECESSARY?

If bleeding does not stop with pressure and ice, the area may need sutures to stop the bleeding. Do not attempt to put dermabond here. The wound will continue to bleed and the glue will just fall off. Other reasons for sutures would be a laceration that has a gap to it, especially if it is in on the face or neck

where we are more aesthetically conscious. Some full thickness wounds around joints, such as on the fingers, may look well approximated at baseline but a gap develops when the joint is bent. These wounds also may need to be sutured and examined to make sure that there is no tendon injury underneath.

IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT SUTURES ARE NEEDED, HOW SOON AFTER THE INJURY SHOULD THE SUTURING TAKE PLACE?

Ideally, a wound should be closed within six hours of the injury. You may have more wiggle room with face wounds, due to their excellent blood supply, and that can be left to the discretion of your surgeon.

ARE THERE ANY AREAS THAT DO BETTER WITH STAPLES OR SURGICAL GLUE?

Staples and glue both have the advantage of being very quick and easy to apply. Staples are great for the scalp, especially since we are less concerned about the marks that they might make in that area and they are more gentle on the hair follicles in comparison to a continuous running suture loop. They might leave a scar that is fractions of a millimeter

wider, but this is generally well tolerated in the scalp. I’m not a huge fan of using surgical glue on its own unless it is an area that does not have a lot of motion to it. If it is a superficial laceration to the brow that is not in the hair, I might consider using glue, but usually not around the lip of a finger joint. Sometimes I will add surgical glue as an extra sealant protective layer to a wound if I have closed with sutures that are all buried and dissolvable under the skin.

WE KNOW CHILDREN CAN MOVE AROUND… HOW DO WE KEEP THE CHILD STILL?

We can often employ a makeshift papoose by surrounding the child’s arms and body and giving a big hug with a blanket while someone holds the head still. Most smaller children are able to tolerate this well despite their obvious fear of the unknown as long as the parent talks to them during the procedure. Some parents, however, know in advance that their child is very strong and will not sit still for any procedure. In that case, I would recommend a visit to the pediatric emergency room where sedation can be given with medicine in the nose or other methods. If the laceration involves significantly deeper structures, like eyelid muscles or hand tendons, they will likely need to be explored and repaired in the operating room under anesthesia.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO HAVING SUTURES PLACED?

There are risks and benefits to almost everything that we do in medicine and it is our job as physicians to help guide you through that decision process. Sutures carry the risk of infection, especially if the wound is dirty, has a foreign body, or has been open for a prolonged period of time. Railroad marks can be left by tight sutures in a swollen wound, but this tends to resolve if sutures are removed at an appropriate time and topical silicone gel is used. Buried sutures are a great way to obtain amazingly thin scars by relieving wound tension, but can sometimes extrude from the wound at a later date. Fortunately, this is a short term nuisance and resolves with minimal effort.

If the wound is not sutured and there is a gap to the skin, the major risk are that the area will bleed for a prolonged period of time, the wound will take longer to heal, and the scar will be wider than if it were sutured.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS AFTER SUTURES?

I recommend limiting strenuous activity for the next 24 to 48 hours if possible. This will help to minimize bleeding and bruising. Avoid any activity that might cause trauma to the area and cause the wound to reopen. Keep the area dry for 24 to 48

hours, depending on the wound location, and avoid submersion in the bathtub, pool, or ocean for at least a week or more, depending on the wound healing process.

HOW LONG DO SUTURES NEED TO REMAIN IN PLACE TO ENSURE PROPER HEALING?

The reason that we want to remove the sutures in a timely manner is to minimize railroad track marks on the skin and the body’s inflammatory response to something foreign. Sutures can often be removed at around 7 days for the face and neck or 1014 days for the arms and torso, and 2 weeks for the legs. This timing also depends on how the wound appears to be healing and whether or not there are buried sutures that are relieving tension. Sometimes we do not have to remove sutures at all if we use fine dissolvable sutures, buried sutures, or surgical glue.

ONCE THE SUTURES ARE REMOVED, WHAT STEPS CAN ONE TAKE TO DECREASE THE RISK OF SCAR?

I usually recommend either a topical antibiotic ointment or Aquaphor for the first two weeks of healing. Once the wound is no longer raw appearing, one can start applying a silicone gel twice daily for at least 3 months and sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater. For topical scar treatments, medical grade silicone has the most evidence

behind its efficacy. It increases hydration of the skin, protects the scar tissue from bacteria, helps growth factors to balance collagen production, and helps to reduce itching. This product is available as a sheet, especially for areas that hide under clothing, but is more commonly used as a gel for the face. While sunscreen is generally a good idea to apply during everyday life in south Florida, it has the additional advantage of decreasing the risk of darkening of a scar while it is in its most inflammatory stages of a healing process. If you have any concerns about thickening of the scar, it is best to ask your doctor early if other treatment

options are necessary before it becomes a worse problem.

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?

Raising children is already stressful enough and sometimes life throws unexpected curve balls our way. Once you have taken your initial management steps, you can be comforted by the fact that you are in a community surrounded by talented professionals who are ready to help you. Despite the hard work involved in repairing a wound, there is no magic to wound healing with sutures. Everyone will heal with a scar. How the scar heals, however, will depend on how extensive the laceration is, how the

An Interview with Shlomo Danzinger: Candidate for Miami-Dade County Mayor

WHY ARE YOU CURRENTLY RUNNING?

I believe that now, more than ever, it is essential to have leaders who are deeply committed to the well-being and safety of the Jewish community. But safety is not just about protection from external threats; it also means securing a stable future for our families. One of the most pressing issues we face is the rising cost of living, with skyrocketing insurance rates putting many at risk of losing their homes. I'm running because I want to address these concerns head-on, advocating for policies that will bring relief and ensure that our communities can continue to thrive.

WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE ARE THE TOP THREE CHALLENGES FACING OUR DISTRICT TODAY, AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO ADDRESS THEM?

Miami-Dade County’s budget has ballooned to $13 billion—larger than some state budgets! This has placed an unfair burden on our residents, as taxes continue to rise. As Surfside’s Mayor, I successfully reduced the town’s operating budget for the first time while significantly

enhancing services and amenities by continuously assessing our ongoing contracts and subscriptions. These responsible practices need to be implemented at the county level to ensure we are making the most of every taxpayer dollar.

Equally important is the safety and security of our county. In light of the rise in antisemitism following the tragic events of October 7th, it is crucial to have bold leadership that stands firmly with Israel and the Jewish community. Unfortunately, the current mayor has not taken a strong stance on these issues. Additionally, her support of the BLM movement and criticism of law enforcement, sends the wrong message to the brave men and women who protect our community. Our law enforcement, similar to the State of Israel, deserves unwavering support, and I’m committed to providing that.

Finally, the most pressing issues facing South Florida is the skyrocketing insurance. Many homeowners being are dropped by their insurance companies due to aging roofs, and are being left with unaffordable options

like ‘forced-place insurance’. As Mayor of Surfside, I collaborated with state and federal legislators to shape impactful legislation that has already made a difference. If elected as county mayor, I will continue to leverage my experience to tackle this vital issue.

HOW DO YOU PLAN TO ADDRESS OUR CURRENT ECONOMY, UNEMPLOYMENT AND CREATE JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS?

The current mayor’s recent attempt to secure a $2.5 billion loan, burdening taxpayers, would have had a detrimental impact on the county's finances. Additionally, her recent $7.5 million proposal to construct individual shelters for the homeless, intended to circumvent the state's new anti-encampment laws, risks turning South Florida into the troubled streets of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I would instead focus the county's $45 million "homeless budget" on addressing the root causes of homelessness, such as mental illness, substance abuse, and economic stimulation. It's time to tackle the underlying issues rather than just the symptoms.

Furthermore, our county has missed opportunities to utilize state grants that could be used to support small businesses and create jobs. It's crucial to harness these opportunities to strengthen our local economy and improve the well-being of all residents.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SCHOOL CHOICE?

School Choice is an outstanding initiative that empowers parents to provide their children with the education, values, and foundation that best align with their beliefs. This program is as much an advancement

of religious freedom as it is of educational freedom. Additionally, subsidized tuition has been a factor in enabling many new Jewish families to move to Florida.

WITH THE CURRENT ONGOING STATE OF WAR IN ISRAEL, WHAT IN YOUR OPINION, IS THE RIGHT APPROACH TO HAMAS, AND THE U.S. FOREIGN POLICY?

Supporting Israel in its fight for survival is not only morally right but also essential for America's security. The chant “from the river to the sea” calls for the complete destruction of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Their goals are clear, and our response must

be equally decisive. “America stands with Israel.”

DO YOU HAVE ANY CLOSING REMARKS OR ANYTHING YOU FEEL IS IMPORTANT TO SHARE IN THIS ARTICLE?

I’d like to close with an important reminder: elections matter. The policies and values of those in office shape not just our country, but our local communities. Every vote counts, especially in local elections where outcomes can be decided by just a handful of votes. Early voting is available from August 5-18.

Operation Inspiration: Right Where I Left It

“Why is it,” goes the old joke, “that when you’re looking for something, you always find it in the last place you look?” The answer, of course, is that once you’ve found it, you stop looking! It seems that finding lost or misplaced items is a common problem faced by modern man, and it’s probably exacerbated by the sheer number of “things” we are blessed to have. As Chazal say, “Marbeh nechasim, marbeh daaga – when you increase your possessions, you increase your worry.” With more things to go missing, come more opportunities to search for them.

left hand side, behind the applesauce.” “Oh! There it is.”

I have this theory that every family has a “finder,” someone who can locate lost items when others can’t. They can come into the room and locate the library book that simply must get returned today, or the watch someone else, “looked everywhere for.” And they don’t even have to physically be there. Ever been on the phone and had this conversation? “I think we’re out of ketchup?” “Top shelf,

Most parents can relate to the following scenario: [Howl from distant corner of the house…] “I can’t find my shoes! Has anyone seen my shoes???” or “Who took my backpack? I am late and I can’t find it!”

Often the parents respond with a calm, “Your shoes are next to the couch, where you left them when you came in last night,” or “Did you look in your room where you were doing your homework?”

It is true that sometimes someone else will move the items in question, like if you

were cleaning the living room for an evening with guests and your child left their shoes, backpack, headphones, pile of papers, chewing gum, and half-eaten snack on and next to the coffee table, so you had to move them elsewhere. Usually, though, the missing item is not missing, as much as we forgot where we left it. It’s doubly frustrating when we leave things where we will surely remember where they are, and then we don’t. One day I needed something. It was not in the spot where we usually keep it in the pantry. I was annoyed and began looking feverishly around the kitchen for it, wondering where my daughter could have left it. I mean, certainly, if it’s not in the right spot, it must have been one of the kids, right? I couldn’t find it and began to wrack my brain. I thought back to the last time I’d seen it, and then – I remembered where I’d left it. I looked, and sure enough, it was right there in the spot I’d put it down.

To be fair, I was in a hurry, and I was involved in a chesed, so leaving it somewhere else made sense in the moment. Of course, if it was someone else, I should probably give them the same leeway, but for now, suffice it to say that it was where I’d left it and I had no one else to blame.

At that moment, the words of a recent Haftarah played in my mind. “Koh amar Hashem, zacharti lach chesed ne’urayich – so says Hashem, I remember the kindness of your youth; lechtaich acharai bamidbar – when you followed after me in the wilderness.”

At this time of the year,

we’re searching for what we’ve lost; the Bais HaMikdash, the korbanos, the miracles, and the close relationship with Hashem. We cry and pray to Hashem to come back to us, to bring Moshiach, and rebuild the Bais HaMikdash. But we’re forgetting something.

The Navi Malachi, in the Haftara we read Shabbos HaGadol says, “For I am Hashem, I haven’t changed, and you are the children of Yaakov, who have not ceased to exist.” Hashem is telling us that it’s not He who left the relationship, but us. He has remained steadfast in His love for us, evidenced by the fact

that despite all the threats and attacks, WE ARE STILL HERE. If we want to find ourselves back deeply in love with Hashem, and to regain what we have lost, we need to remember that Hashem hasn’t moved. Instead, we have to seek Him out, thinking about where we saw Him last. I’m pretty sure that if we do that, we will be able to find HaKadosh Baruch Hu – right where we left Him.

Utilizing The Best Tools and Resources

An old Italian gentleman lived alone in New Jersey. He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard and dry. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. So, one day, the old man decided to write a letter to his son and described his predicament.

"Dear Vincent, I am feeling pretty sad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I am just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know that if you were here, my troubles would be over. I know that you would be more than happy to dig the plot for me…like in the old days. Love, Papa"

A few days later, he received a letter from his son. "Dear Papa, Don't dig up that garden! That's where the bodies are buried! Love, Vinnie"

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.

That same day, the old man received another letter from his son. "Dear Papa, Go ahead and plant your tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances. Love you, Vinnie."

This anecdote is an excellent example of tapping into one's creativity and resources to help get a job done despite one's limitations. Navigating the complex world of real estate and finance can be daunting. The many decisions, considerations, and strategies required to achieve both short-term and long-term goals can overwhelm even the savviest individuals. Whether buying a home, investing in real estate, or planning for financial stability, having access to the best tools and resources is crucial.

Nowadays, one of the primary challenges people face is the sheer volume of information and options available. The internet is replete with advice, ranging from financial planning tips to real estate investment strategies. However, only

some of this information is reliable or applicable to most situations. Sorting through conflicting advice and data can lead to decision paralysis (or worse!), where the fear of making the wrong choice results in no action at all.

This is where the value of experienced and knowledgeable experts becomes evident. Mentors, coaches, and industry professionals offer more than just advice - they provide tailored strategies that align with your specific needs and goals. Their expertise ensures that the tools and resources you utilize are the most effective for your situation.

Experts possess a deep understanding of market trends, financial instruments, and investment opportunities. Their competence in these areas allows them to craft personalized plans that can significantly enhance your chances of success. For instance, a seasoned real estate agent can guide you through market fluctuations, helping you to make informed

decisions about when to buy or sell. A financial advisor, on the other hand, can assist in creating a diversified investment portfolio that mitigates risk and maximizes returns.

Moreover, these professionals come with an invaluable asset: their rolodex. Their network of contacts, including lawyers, bankers, contractors, and other specialists, can provide you with access to resources that would be difficult to find on your own. This network can also facilitate creative and custom solutions to unique challenges, ensuring that your strategy is both innovative and effective.

Working with experts can also instill confidence. Knowing that you have a knowledgeable professional in your corner can alleviate the stress associated with making significant financial and real estate decisions. This confidence can empower you to take decisive actions that align with your goals and help you achieve maximum success. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me to pick my brain and chat about your circumstances - whatever the topic. I am always happy to help!

Referrals Really Come From Us

“Hello, Gary here. Hey, I need to chat with you. I have a referral for you. Give me a call back soon. Thanks…”

This was a voicemail I received a few days back. I had a nagging question. The last touch I had with Gary was over two years ago. So what promoted him to drop me a call out of the blue.

Fast forward, and that referal hopped on a meeting this week culminating with the company ready to take the next steps and join my company.

Although it’s a bit of a complicated account, with multiple businesses and locations, not to mention integrating payments into a currently used CRM software, I’m confident in this challenge. Based on the companies frustrations, they are ready as well.

After his voicemail, I quickly texted that I was appreciative but on vacation with the family and that I would contact him in three days time. (Nothing overrides family time).

Three days later, as if on cue, Gary reached back out, “hey there, don’t forget to call me,” was his text. I was just settling back in and getting comfortable in my office chair sipping my morning brew. He didn’t give me a minute to even check my emails.

I didn’t miss a beat and called the eagerly awaiting Gary. We caught up for a quick minute before launching into this next opportunity. He explained that his company was primed for a switch of their providers and that it was brought up at a company wide meeting. Well, he knew just the one to bring on board. The green light was given by the company. Dusting off my phone number was the next step.

After my meeting with the company a few days later, I couldn’t help peek my curiosity. I had to ask him why specifically me? I’m sure he knows others in my space. Besides, the last time we spoke was literally two years ago, if not longer, in a networking group we both attended. Was there an instance where we had met up, or came to mind since?

Well, his answer mixed that idea. “Because of the networking group we were

both in,” was his reply. So no conversations or interactions in any way for two years and then a refferal?

Yes. I undermined myself and underestimated the power of my impressions on others. Since that time, the amount of networking meetings I’ve attended has been zero. I personally haven’t attended a networking group since. The interesting part is that some of the best referrals I’ve gotten are from meeting others in person.

Though, I’m not a fan of putting myself in a room with unfamiliar faces and talking about what we do. Even in a virtual setting. It just isn’t exactly pulling me out of bed in the morning. Maybe it should?

4. When grill pan is very hot, place mushrooms in the pan, gill side up. Baste mushrooms with the vinegar and oil mixture. Cook for 8 minutes. Turn and cook second side for 6 minutes. IMAGINE

DID YOU KNOW?

Throughout the Jewish people’s travels in the desert, they encountered many challenges and difficulties along the way.

You are learning how to swim. It feels scary and challenging because you haven’t yet learned how to keep yourself afloat in the water. The first time in the water, you may feel nervous and begin to panic. The second time, you try to relax and slowly become more comfortable, practicing the skills the teacher taught you. Even when you slip at the pool one day, you can get up and continue back in the water. The day has finally come, you finished your lessons and now you’re an expert swimmer. Looking back at all the challenges, you realize that to learn this new skill, you had to overcome all these difficulties to reach the end goal. Now, not only do you know how to swim, but you are also confident enough to help teach a friend!

DELVING DEEPER

BRING IT HOME

Think of a challenging period in your life. What did you gain from that difficult time that later helped you?

After their journey in the desert, the Jewish people were tired and weakened by all their struggles. Facing the future with a smile was difficult for them. Moshe recounted all their travels, showing them that all the challenges they went through, were put in place by Hashem from the beginning. This was to help them be prepared for their arrival in Eretz Yisrael. Once they realized that all the journeys and hardships had brought them closer to Eretz Yisrael, it gave them insight to appreciate the difficulties they experienced. We can learn from this that even though we can’t change the past, we can look at the experiences Hashem gives us and see how everything is all part of a bigger plan to help us reach our final goal.

Desert Sand Mountain PARSHA

Cut out the template. Place into the cup and cut to size, so that there is a full line of traveling camels around the cup.

With the orange and non-colored sand, create mountains in your container, following the camels, in order to know where to put each mountain.

With an acrylic marker, draw some sticks with circles on top to look like people sitting on top of the camels.

Tape your camels to the inside of your cup. Using an acrylic marker, trace the scene onto the outside of the container & let it dry.

Layer the 3 different colors of blue in thin layers to create your sky.

Admire the traveling camels in the desert landscape.

Place 1 cup of sand into a bowl and color it orange using your dye, then divide the rest of the sand into 4 containers. Color 3 of them different shades of blue leaving one non-colored.

Once the entire container is full, let it set for 5 minutes, then fill the top with a thin layer of glue. Cover and close tightly.
