Governor Ron DeSantis Expresses Strong Support for Israel & Announces New Proposed Sanctions By Avrohom Luban

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference today at the Shul of Bal Harbour in Surfside, Florida, where he reiterated his unwavering support for Israel and addressed critical issues pertaining to the region. During the press conference, Governor DeSantis emphasized Israel’s inherent right to defend itself and voiced his concerns about the allocation of funds to Iran from the United States. He underscored the need for a steadfast commitment to Israel’s security. In a significant legislative announcement, Governor DeSantis proposed new sanctions on Iran. These sanctions would extend existing prohibitions on state investment in Iranian businesses to encompass nearly a dozen sectors, spanning finance, technology, construction, and shipbuilding. Furthermore, the proposed legislation would prohibit state and local governments from engaging in contracts with companies operating within these newly expanded sectors. Governor DeSantis stated, “These sanctions will undoubtedly rank as the most robust anti-Iran measures enacted by any state in this nation.” Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez also addressed the gathering, affirming the special bond between Florida and P 1 6 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . Israel. She pledged to continue strengthening the enduring partnership between the state of Florida and the nation of Israel, stating “the special bond between Florida and Israel will only grow stronger every single day”. Additional dignitaries present at the conference included Israel’s

Counsel General in Miami, Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, Rabbi Shalom Lipskar, Rav of The Shul, as well as many Rabbonim and community leaders. Numerous state senators and representatives attended this important event, demonstrating a unified and resolute show of support for Israel.

Agudath Israel of Florida is extremely pleased with the overwhelming support for Israel, and we are deeply grateful to all the elected officials who have stood with us and worked alongside us during this challenging period. As Published by the Agudath Israel of America’s Florida office.

ONE STOP SHOP

BUSINESS

Selling By Not Selling By Shalom Markman

I forcefully pried the automatic doors open because I didn’t have time to wait around. A few weeks of waiting was way too long until this store was going to be up and running. I was quite OK to let my decision maker know, whoever it may have been, that I was snooping around. So, I did just that, and left my name and number on the cash register, the back-office door, and on the door outside. Now that I had accomplished leaving my mark, my recon still wasn’t done. Determined as a cat chasing a toy mouse, I was going to stop by every day thereafter, until I found someone to talk to. My goal was simple: personally introduce myself. In the meantime, my plan was to get a proper feel of the business no matter if I met them yet or not. Although I wanted to sell them and meet face to face, I continued to let P 2 8 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E . C O M

myself in each day to better learn how to sell them. The only problem was that this was my first month in sales. Not only was I new to my product, but selling to a grocery store was also completely new to me. I was training on the job by teaching myself. But one issue still persisted. I wasn’t getting called back. Although, I wasn’t being told not to come back either. So, I continued my daily visits. A few weeks later I struck gold. I had practically given up by then, but I made the drive anyways. I think it was the car I saw around back this time, so I knocked for a change. The front doors opened up, and the owner standing a head taller, knew exactly why I was there before I even had a chance to open my mouth. I guess goal accomplished. We chatted but it turned out they had already committed and signed on with a new provider.

Bummer! I wanted a chance, and I was determined to get one. I suggested that I come back in three months so we can reevaluate their current decision together. With no objections to my sell, I started shopping there to show my face, every other week. I had gently pressured without asking for an immediate decision. It was selling without actively selling. Let the situation talk for itself. My sale was simple: show them I was trustworthy. Once accomplished, there would be a greater chance of them listening to my suggestion. So, my new goal become to be patient enough to prove myself. Goal accomplished and this new supermarket became my client just four months later. Shalom Markman cold calls not only for the thrill but also to sell merchant services. He lives in Norfolk VA with his family and visits Florida when he gets hungry.

S I M P LY ORGANIZED

Q

Dear Rachelli, I find that my playroom is always a mess and I can never keep it organized. What is the secret to an organized playroom?

A: The truth is that there is no secret or magic formula! Since toys are made for children, keeping them perfectly organized is largely out of your control. You can feel better knowing that toy storage doesn’t have to look perfect at all times. Toys are meant to be played with and enjoyed. However, it is very helpful to have a system for your toys that will be easy to maintain. If you have clearly organized systems, it will be much easier to get the kids to keep their toys neat. Tip #1: Instead of using the packages the toys came in for storage, purchase clear containers with lids. (It’s crucial to buy high quality containers. Kids can be rough with these containers and you want them to last!) Empty as many toys as you can into these containers. This will eliminate the task of trying to fit awkwardly shaped packages into the closet, and will instead provide a neat, uniform appearance to your shelves. Tip #2: Label! There is no way your children will know which bin to put the toys back into without clear labels. A cute idea to assist kids who can’t read yet is to print A picture of the toy and tape it inside the box facing out. This ensures that even the smaller kids can know what belongs in the box, and clean up. Tip #3: It is essential to categorize the shelves of your playroom. There are building toys, baby toys, puzzles, and games. Each category should have its own place; this saves a lot of confusion and mess. You may want to label the shelves by category. P 3 4 / T S F C O M M U N I T YVO I C E .C O M

Tip #4: Keep big bulky toys like cars, trucks or dolls in large bins as well, instead of lining them up on the floor or on a shelf. Even if the bin doesn’t close, it still keeps the items contained and gives them a home. Tip #5: Give each child a bin of his or her own, to keep his personal “stuff” in. Designate a space to store the bins, either in his room, the playroom, or mudroom. This helps make cleaning the house an easier task! You can just place each child’s items in his bin and have him take care of it. And of course, label each bin with the child’s name. Important note: If A child has accumulated too much stuff and it can no longer be contained in the bin, it is time for him to choose something to discard or give away. You will be teaching your child the value of prioritizing things that are important and letting go of things that are no longer needed. Tip #6: Keep games on a high shelf and out of reach from little ones. If a child wants to play a game, an adult should take it down. This way you can somewhat control how many games are out at a time. Only one game may be taken down at a time, and then must be cleaned up when done. It is a great idea to have a bin near your games labeled “Game Pieces.” If you ever find a random game piece and aren’t sure which game it goes to, just drop it in that bin. This way, when your children are playing, they can check that bin for missing pieces.

Tip #7: A popular solution to keeping games neat is to store them vertically, like books. This ensures that the games don’t topple over when trying to select one. However, if the original box is broken or torn, discard it. Store the game pieces in a bin. If the gameboard does not fit in the bin, have it rest right near the container. Tip #8: If you do not have a playroom, no need to panic! Dedicate an area in the family room or in bedrooms to keep the toys. Still, it’s important to buy some sort of shelving. This way you can still categorize and have bins sorted on shelves. Pro Tip: Try to get a cabinet or storage unit with doors. It will be well worth the extra expense. This way even if your toys are stored in the middle of your living room, you can close the closet doors and the room will still look neat. Always remember that happy kids make mess, and it’s all part of childhood. Allow your children to enjoy playing with their toys and engage in imaginative play, while at the same time teaching them responsibility in keeping their toys neat.
