Sunny Isles Beach Synagogue Embeds the Essence of Jewish Traditions into Miami’s Jewish Community

Nestled in Miami-Dade County, Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach is flourishing as a pivotal center for Orthodox Jewish life. This congregation has become renowned for its dynamic approach to fostering community spirit and religious engagement.

A standout event in the synagogue’s calendar, the pre-Purim celebration, vividly illustrates this blend of tradition and community. Families gathered to create groggers, marking not just a celebration but a reaffirmation of their heritage. “Young Israel of Sunny Isles was delighted to welcome many families to our pre-purim party, where children made their own groggers for the Megillah reading. We greeted new and returning families and were excited by the enthusiasm from kids and parents. A

juggling show to remember, gave everyone a reason to laugh and smile. It is exciting to see a community come together for a fun afternoon,” says Leah Volynsky, community member, highlighting the importance of shared traditions in strengthening community ties.

In Miami’s rapidly evolving Orthodox Jewish landscape, Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach stands out for its

commitment to inclusivity and engagement. The synagogue’s efforts reflect a broader mission: to create a welcoming space where Jewish life and culture not only exist but thrive.

One of the community members, Dr. Judith Mann, sees the synagogue as a crucial part of Miami’s Jewish identity. “This is more than a place of worship,” Dr. Mann. remarks, “it’s a home where we all come together to celebrate, learn, and grow.”

As Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach continues to innovate and inspire, it cements its role as a cornerstone of Jewish life in Miami, offering a space where tradition and community converge in celebration of Jewish faith and heritage.

Navigating the Dynamic South Florida Real Estate Market: Navigating the New Landscape Post-NAR Settlement

in home sales - I bring you insights grounded in experience and authenticity, backed by the most up-to-date sources.

Overview: Recent developments in the Real Estate Industry, propelled by a landmark National Association of Realtors (NAR) settlement, will institute significant changes for the industry nationwide starting July 2024. This pivotal shift, originating from accusations against NAR (and a few other Brokerages) for colluding to maintain high commission rates via its Clear Cooperation Rule, created to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all brokers.

Here are the Key changes to Real Estate Practices going forward:

1)Elimination of MLS Compensation Offers: The traditional practice of Agents specifying shared commissions on

with their clients, potentially making buyers responsible for their agent's commission.

3)Mandatory Buyer Agency

Agreements: Effective July 2024, all agents representing buyers will need to sign agreements detailing how they will be compensated for their involvement.

4)Adjustments to MLS Systems: MLS platforms will remove compensation-related fields and ban compensation offers to promote fairness.

How this effects you: Buyers: Prepare for direct discussions with your agent on compensation and ensure clarity on buyer agreement terms.

Sellers: The marketing and sale dynamics of properties may shift; Sellers may no longer be responsible for paying a buyers real estate agent for their

changes is essential to continuing to work in the industry. Take the time to get educated on the subject, while adjusting your business models will be crucial for success.

Looking Ahead: Despite these adjustments, our commitment as an industry to provide an exceptional service, remains the same. Perception versus Reality

A Sephardic Jewish man walks into a small community bank in New York City and asks for a loan officer. He tells the banker that he is going to China on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000. The bank officer tells him that the bank will only lend him money with some form of security for the loan. The Sephardi man reaches into his pocket and hands over the keys of his new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank. The loan officer readily agreed to accept the car as collateral, and the loan paperwork was executed.

home, ate his dinner in 3 mins, and fell asleep in 2 mins. How was yours?”

The bank’s president and officers enjoyed a good laugh at the Sephardi Jew’s expense for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank’s underground garage and parked it there. Two weeks later, the man returned and repaid the $5,000 plus interest, which totaled $15.41. The loan officer says, “Sir, we are delighted to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and discovered you are a multi-millionaire. What troubled us is, why would you need to borrow $5,000?”

The Jew replies: “Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be available in perfect condition immediately upon my return?”

Here’s another. Two women began chatting in the office on Monday morning about their weekend. The first woman, all excited with an extra bounce in her step, asked the other how her weekend was. Her friend said: “It was a disaster. My husband came

The second woman had a massive smile on her face. She bragged to her friend that she had the best night with her husband as he swept her off her feet. She happily recounted the evening: “My husband came home and took me out for a romantic dinner. After dinner, we went on a long romantic walk. When we came home, he lit candles all around the house. The night was magical.”

Simultaneously, across town, the women’s husbands were having a discussion of their own. The first man asked about the other’s evening. My night was perfect. He described that he got home on time to find dinner on the table, and after quickly eating, he immediately fell asleep. For him, it was an overall fantastic night.

The other man, the second woman’s husband, had a different experience. With a troubled look on his face, he narrated to his friend how horribly the night went. He said, “It was a disaster. I came home. There was no dinner. They cut the electricity because I forgot to pay the bill, so I was forced to take her out for dinner. Our meal was a small fortune.”

He went on to explain that he didn’t have anything left after spending so much money on the meal that he couldn’t hail a taxi. He decided that

they should walk home, which took over an hour. To make things worse, when they finally got home, he remembered that the power was still out. He quickly ran in and lit candles all over the house. He jumped into bed and immediately fell asleep out of exhaustion. Well, there you have it. Two perfect examples of how perception is not always reality. These anecdotes underscore a fundamental truth: an individual’s perspectives, biases, and circumstances often shape reality. What appears straightforward on the surface may mask layers of complexity and subjectivity beneath.

Acknowledging the interplay between perception and reality becomes vital as we navigate an increasingly interconnected and information-rich world. Understanding the complex interplay between perception and reality is essential for navigating an ever-changing world with empathy, insight, and humility, whether in personal interactions, economic analyses, or broader societal narratives.

Validate Your Inbound Sales By Going Silent

A call come in from a client of mine. I picked up of course. I’m happy at least it was during business hours although I don’t hold myself to the nine till five doctrine anyways. “Hey, I have a client for you.” It was Issac, a client I had recently brought in, just two months ago. Here he was already bringing me new business.

“Sure, how can I help them?” I asked, secretly delighted to get this kind of call. It was Thursday, and what felt like a long week. I was about ready to relax with a nice roll of sushi. Unfortunately, they don’t sell any kosher version of it in my state, so an odd Oreo cookie settled me instead.

up again? How should I follow up again? Should I follow up again?

“Well,” continued Issac as I now munched in the background, “here’s the deal. They are a new client of mine and a medical company that initiates drug tests. I’m advising them on their billing, and I figured now that you’re who we use, I’d let them know our recommendations. You’re the one who came to mind. So, what are your prices again?”

Here I was. I couldn’t believe it. One of the easiest initial sales calls I’ve been on and maybe the shortest too. I have over some pricing options, and we parted ways. The easy part was done. I got in-front of a new potential client. Well, sort of.

How do you close this potential client? After all, this deal has yet to currently close, although this now turned prospect has a need that I’m able to fill but I’ve yet to close on this sale. After I receive a call like this, how long is appropriate to wait before following

Let’s answer these questions one by one. I’ll take my advice here and keep you posted on what eventually happens.

In sales, there’s a difference whether it’s an outbound or inbound lead. With an outbound lead, don’t assume that they remember your conversation by the time they make their next coffee, or in my case, Oreo cookie unfortunately. As a matter of fact, don’t assume they’re even following your initial conversation. My advice is to therefore follow up three days later. The way you follow up should depend on how you both approached that initial conversation, and how that follow up topic was discussed. Assume that if you called them on the phone, an email review as a point of reference from your call would likely go far plus it gives you the opportunity to state the facts for the record. How to follow up afterwards is for a different article, but I think a phone call after that secondary

email goes along way.

When dealing with inbound needs, they know that they connected with you. Suffice it to say, they also didn’t forget about you. It might not be a top priority of theirs, but at the right time, they will consider your prior conversation together. Therefore, at a minimum, give two weeks of space before even saying boo. Your there to service them, right? This is how you’re servicing them. You’re giving them decision making space.

Will I be following up with this client? Of course. Will I be following up this week? No way. Although I can justify a quick reply of “just touching base to see if you have any further questions,” that really won’t be adding value in this scenario. It simply looks like I’m desperate for the deal. If you’re confident in what you bring to the table, my foot should be off the gas. I’m here to create a relationship through business.

When reaching out almost right away, I’m demonstrating a lack of confidence in my initial conversation together. Give yourself credit that you were the one they got in touch with. You likely helped it along by being a pleasure to deal with in the first place. Validate their decision and don’t doubt your engagement. After all, it worked right before your eyes and got you here in the first place.

Kosher Recipes Made Easy

35MIN DURATION 27MIN COOK TIME 8MIN PREP TIME 4 SERVINGS

ITALIAN VEGETABLE SOUP

Warm the tummy, warm the soul. Italian Vegetable Soup (spiked with orzo and pesto) and served with cheese bread is the perfect tomato-ey comfort food. Soup is one of my favorite foods, and the Italian Veggie soup is what I fix when I’m “watching” what I eat: that’s when I hold the orzo and the cheese bread.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• 1 large onion, peeled and coarsely chopped

• 2 small zucchini, cut into ½-inch cubes

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 5 to 6 cup vegetable broth

• 1 cup frozen cut green beans

• 1 cup orzo

• 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5-ounce)

• 1 tablespoon dried oregano

• 8 slices baguette or Italian loaf

• ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

• ¼ cup store bought pesto

Jamie Geller is the Chief Media and Marketing Officer at Aish. She is also a bestselling cookbook author, celebrity chef, television producer, and businesswoman. She’s the author of eight cookbooks and the founder of Kosher Media Network.

PREPARATION

1. Heat olive oil in a medium pot or dutch oven over medium high heat. Add onions and sauté 5 minutes. Add zucchini and garlic and sauté 4 more minutes. Add broth, beans, orzo, tomatoes and oregano and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook 14 to 18 minutes or until orzo is cooked and vegetables are tender.

2. Preheat oven to a low broil. Place sliced bread on a large sheet pan. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon cheese on each slice of bread and broil on low until cheese is bubbly and bread is lightly browned.

3. To serve, ladle soup into 4 bowls and top each with 1 tablespoon pesto. Serve with cheese bread
