Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale Honored by City Officials with Street Naming

In a city where only a handful of Jews lived not that long ago, today there is a vibrant Jewish community. The City of Fort Lauderdale recognized and honored the significant contributions that Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale led by Rabbi Moishe Meir & Penina Lipszyc, by dedicating a new name to the current NE 35th street, adding the name CHABAD DRIVE!!

On March 6, 2024, over two hundred and fifty people of all ages and professions, gathered outside Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale to witness the historical and momentous occasion for the Jewish community as the mayor and commissioners of Fort Lauderdale unveiled the new street name!

The evening started with the mayor inviting Rabbi Mendel Fayershteyn, Assistant Rabbi, Cteen and YJP Director at Chabad Lubavitch Fort Lauderdale to

open up with a blessing. Rabbi Mendel dedicated the blessing to the City of Fort Lauderdale and its leadership and then led prayers in merit of the hostages, the IDF and all of Israel. The Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Dean Trantalis addressed the crowd and said, “As we unveil the Chabad Lubavitch street sign in Fort Lauderdale today, we celebrate not only the thriving Jewish heritage of our city but also reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity and unity. In a time when antiSemitic sentiments are on the rise nationwide, this new street sign stands as a powerful symbol

of hope, welcoming all to our community. Let us continue to stand together against bigotry in all its forms as we strive to build a city where everyone feels valued and respected.”

Following him, Fort Lauderdale Commissioner, John Herbst who arranged the details of this ceremony declared, “I am very proud to be able to honor Chabad Lubavitch and my good friend, Rabbi Moishe Meir, by adding the name Chabad Drive to NE 35 Street. The City of Fort Lauderdale wants to acknowledge all of the contributions that the Chabad has made to the community since it was established here in 1990. The services and programs continue to grow and deepen their impact on the lives of our residents. Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, more welcoming Fort Lauderdale for all.”

Executive Director of Chabad

P.12 / TSFCOMMUNITYVOICE.COM COMMUNITY NEWS

Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale, Rabbi Moishe Meir Lipszyc concluded by saying, “What a great honor and tribute to the Rebbe this is, who teaches us to love and cherish every human being and to make this world a dwelling place for G-d. As the Rebbe instructed us, we have to complete this world to bring Moshiach now!

Also present at the ceremony were Fort Lauderdale Commissioner of District 2, Steve Glasman, Ft. Lauderdale Police Chief Bill Schultz, Ft. Lauderdale Fire Chief Stephen Gollan, Former Mayor of Fort Lauderdale Jim Naugle, and the Honorable Stockwell Day, P.C. of Canada. The event concluded with everyone gathering together as esteemed partners of Chabad Lubavitch were honored with unveiling the new street sign along with city officials and Rabbis.

This momentous occasion marks thirty- four years that Rabbi Moishe Meir and Penina Lipszyc embarked on a Shlichus from the Rebbe to Fort Lauderdale to establish a Jewish community on the east side of town. Historically, East Fort Lauderdale, a beachside

community, was home to only a handful of Jewish residents. Most of them switched their names to hide their Jewish identity and never publicly showed their Jewish pride. When Rabbi Moishe Meir & Penina were sent by the Rebbe in 1989 to open the first Chabad House in Fort Lauderdale there was only one reform temple in town, about to close their doors. The Rabbi of that temple warned Rabbi Moishe Meir that it wasn’t worth opening a synagogue/ Jewish community center in the east side of Fort Lauderdale due to prevalent anti- Semitism. When Rabbi Moishe Meir asked where the most anti- semitic area was in the east side of town, he was told Galt Ocean Mile located right off A1A on the beach of Fort Lauderdale. That is exactly where Rabbi Moishe Meir & Penina decided to open the first Chabad house.

Over the past thirty-four (34) years, their dedication and hard work have transformed the city and created a vibrant Jewish presence that continues to thrive. From the small store front they rented in 1990, they have grown and expanded Chabad Lubavitch to a full

city block with a permanent beautiful community center that has programs that serve all the Jewish communal needs on a daily basis. These include three daily prayers, a men’s and a women’s Mikvah, a Preschool, a Hebrew school, CTeen, YJP, Adult Education/Torah classes, certified JLI courses, a public Jewish library, a Women’s League and kosher food and hospitality suites at Broward General Medical Center and Holy Cross Hospital. In addition, there is a Friendship Circle and Wisdom Circle and many more programs.

Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale has also expanded with an additional four Chabad Centers along with eight Shluchim and Shluchos and their families who are dedicated to the Jewish communal needs of the City of Fort Lauderdale.

In recognition of all this, Fort Lauderdale city officials chose to honor and recognize Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale as a vibrant partner in the growth of the City of Fort Lauderdale, one of the largest growing cities in America!

MTA Pre-Purim Carnival

On Sunday, March 17th, the Mizrahi Family Torah Academy (MTA) transformed its serene campus on the grounds of the Soref JCC in Plantation into a vibrant hub of joyful families and community spirit for its eagerly anticipated annual PrePurim Carnival. The event brought together staff, students, families, and local families for a day, in the spirit of Purim, filled with laughter, excitement, and achdus.

The carnival featured an array of booths and attractions, each manned by dedicated members of the MTA community, ensuring a personal touch and a cheerful atmosphere throughout the day. The day was brought to life thanks to the DJ skills of fan-favorite Rabbi Yisroel Hecht, who kept spirits high with his inimitable energy, and pitch-perfect selection of music.

Highlight attractions included competitive Balloon Darts , Squirt Gun Water Races; and a Bounce House Obstacle Course and “Darts” by Bounce House Broward. The perennial favorite - the Face Paint station, manned by our very own MTA artist troupe of Staff and Community members transformed eager faces into masterpieces, while the Ceramic Hamentashen

booth added a topical flair.

The carnival also featured unique attractions such as the Dunk Tank, where visitors had the opportunity to experience a refreshing ice cold pail of water to cool off in the Florida sun, as well as a roving Photo booth. Of course, the educational zoology area, manned by MTA’s very own Zoologist, Mr. Dovid Engel and his trusty staff and student assistants, captivating attendees with both reptiles and furry critters, was a must-visit, with its long lines snaking out of the enclosure!

New to this year’s carnival, Peter Sassa from PS Entertainment dazzled attendees with his incredible

balloon sculptures and animals, adding a magical touch to the festivities.

‘Yehudity’, owned and operated by one of our own MTA parents, specializing in mitpachot and hats, offered stylish accessories for the attendees.

The carnival’s culinary experiences were catered to by the awesome Mendy F. and his incredible ‘Rolling Kosher’ food truck, and the always delightful Miami Ice, ensuring that attendees enjoyed some delicious options throughout the day.

The dedicated PTO, helmed by Mr and Mrs Zev and Rachelle Stern, and Mr and Mrs Adam and Emily Aronson, had a strong presence, manning a brachos station for the zechus of the ongoing crisis in Eretzs Yisroel, as well. The carnival not only provided a day of fun, but also highlighted the close-knit and supportive atmosphere that defines the Mizrahi Family Torah Academy.

This ‘Pre-Purim Carnival’ is one application of MTA’s hallmark approach to education and wholesome development, limiting class sizes to 10 students, while maximizing each child’s educational experience, with meaningful relationships, and hands-on activities. To learn more about MTA’s “Power of 10” students in a classroom and unique approach to cultivating a love for our Mesorah, and giving each child the opportunity to reach their full potential, please visit MTA’s website at www.mtacademy.org or call 954-526-5253 - We’d love to hear from you!

Florida Attorney Teams Up With World Famous Performer To Entertain 2,600+

Children of Soldiers & Displaced Families

In late October 2023, amidst Israel’s challenging times, Alan Sakowitz became a magician and embarked on a mission to uplift spirits. Performing 26 magic shows in just nine days, he brought joy to 2,600 individuals, predominantly children of soldiers and those displaced from the southern regions. The overwhelmingly positive feedback inspired Alan to return for a second tour, determined to spread even more magic and happiness.

For his second tour in early February 2024, Alan meticulously prepared, acquiring new tricks to ensure a fresh and enjoyable experience

for his audience. Accompanied by his wife, Leah, and worldfamous circus performer Michael Rosman, Alan set out on a journey that would touch hearts and leave a lasting impact.

Michael’s awe-inspiring performances added an extra dimension to the shows, captivating audiences with his remarkable feats of juggling swords while balancing on a plank which balanced on a pipe on top of a table. Together, Alan and Michael enchanted crowds across Israel. Alan performed a total of 18 shows in just 7 days, reaching an audience of 2,600 individuals. Michael joined Alan for 10 of the

shows and he also performed on his own at Sheeba Hospital and an army base where he taught the soldiers how to juggle.

The tour included shows in Betar Illit, Efrat, Neve Daniel, Beit Shemesh, Beit Meir, Givat Eden, Hashmonaim, and Mevo Haron.

But the true magic of the tour lay not just in the performances but in the ripple effect it created. Inspired by Alan and Michael’s selfless dedication, individuals like Yuval, a newfound friend, eagerly volunteered to be part of the journey and offered their assistance in any way they could.

Inspired by Alan’s example, young magician Yishai

embarked on his own journey of giving back, spreading joy through free performances. Alan’s willingness to share his knowledge and expertise empowered others to follow suit, amplifying the impact of his mission.

Behind the scenes, a network of support emerged, with fellow magicians offering guidance, volunteers facilitating logistics, and his relatives extending hospitality. From improvised performances in communities without electricity to heartfelt interactions with bereaved families and injured soldiers, every tour moment was

infused with compassion and connection.

Throughout their stay, Alan, Leah, and Michael were embraced by their hosts’ warmth and hospitality, reaffirming the deep bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite communities in Israel.

As Alan reflected on the tour, he recognized that the real magic lay in the unity and resilience of the Israeli people. Despite facing challenges and adversity, their spirit remained unbroken, fueled by acts of kindness and generosity.

Ultimately, Alan’s mission was not just about entertaining

audiences but spreading joy, fostering connections, and embodying the spirit of compassion and giving. Through their shared experiences, Alan, Michael, and their fellow volunteers proved that even in the darkest times, the power of kindness and human connection prevails, lighting up hearts and spreading hope wherever they go.

In the hearts of those touched by his magic, Alan Sakowitz’s legacy lives on as a testament to the transformative power of love, laughter, and the human spirit.

RUN FOR THEIR LIVES

Miami Beach Chapter

Run For Your Lives is an organization that was started in association with #Bring Them Home Now, the Hostage and Missing Families Forum. Although the original chapter of Run For Their Lives was started in the Bay area of California by a group of Israelis, there are now 181 locations worldwide with 29 states being represented for a total of 135 US chapters. Florida can proudly boast of having 11 locations.

The purpose of RFTL (author’s abbreviation) is to keep reminding us to raise the

awareness that we still have 134 hostages (men, women, and children) being held captive from the horrific day of October 7, 2023.

It is because of that date that the groups meet at 10:07 on Sunday morning. The RFTL group runs/walks for “chai,” 18 minutes, the Hebrew numerical equivalent of the word “Life.”

I heard about this group from a friend and we both attended the Miami Beach meet-up on a recent Sunday. The group of approximately twenty participants met

at 10:07am in front of the historic Roosevelt movie theater on 41st St. where all cars driving from Miami onto the Beach see the huge wall portraying the posters of each of the hostages. While the international group is dedicated to bring home our captive brothers and sisters, they also are promoting achdus, unity. In spite of the eclectic group gathered, one could feel the unity. We walked from the hostage poster display to the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center, an 18-minute walk. We

P.32 / TSFCOMMUNITYVOICE.COM COMMUNITY NEWS

carried signs, banners, and waved to the cars that drove by giving us supportive honks and shout-outs. After arriving at the JCC (which kindly offers free daily membership to the attendees), the achdus was felt as the group sang Hatikva in unison - we walked away with our saddened hearts and our hope uplifted.

Nancy Warshofsky heard about RFTL from a WhatsApp group. After doing a bit of research, she decided to organize a chapter for Miami Beach. Seeing that the walks are peaceful demonstrations and not political nor caught up in strife were compelling factors. So starting with a website, WhatsApp, and her family, Nancy solicited Abraham Blacher as an administrator, and they were off and running, or walking.

Judith and Edward Boris

began their RFTL involvement when their hometown of Ottawa started a chapter one month after the horrifically historic day in our Holy Land. Judith and Boris winter in South Florida and decided to join the Miami Beach group to express their solidarity. Judith and Boris are walkers as are most of the group, although the age varies from young children to the Boris’ who are well into their seventies. Judith feels there is so little we can do. She gives to tzedakah, belongs to a Tehillim group, attends challah bakes, etc. Judith says, “But joining the RFTL group every Sunday is giving support so (1) people don’t forget and (2) to bring comfort to the families of the hostages who see a video every week consisting of a collage from all of the chapters displaying their signs every

week.”

Everyone is excitedly awaiting the Sunday when they can have a “Walk For Joy” upon the release of all hostages. Meanwhile, Nancy Warshofsky says, “t’s hard to have the heartbreak of the hostages still being held captive, but it’s worse to do nothing. We will not let them be forgotten!”

Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau Speaks at LEC’s Dinner in Solidarity with Eretz Yisrael

“From Eretz Yisroel, to Miami, Florida there are no borders.”

In an expansive, soaring concert hall reverberating in soulful melody, these words were loudly applauded by over 1,000 people who had gathered to demonstrate solidarity with our brethren in Eretz Yisroel and to support quality Jewish education at Lubavitch Educational Center’s annual dinner in Miami, Florida.

The theme—On The Front: One Torah, One Nation, One Land—highlighted the tireless efforts of the institution’s staff and over 2,000 students in the spiritual and material support of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael, and their commitment to a vibrant future of our people. “After the massacre on Simchas Torah, our students really rose to the occasion,” says Rabbi Benzion Korf, head of school. “We are immensely proud of their work on the spiritual front lines.”

Students from the school’s ten divisions introduced the evening’s feature presentations, beginning with a d’var Torah from Yeshiva Gedola Miami’s Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Leib Schapiro, and a proclamation by Oliver Gilbert, chairman of Miami Dade county.

An emotional point of the evening came after a video greeting from LEC alumnus and IDF soldier Sholom Brook, who is currently fighting in Gaza. After the video, during a musical presentation by Yonatan Razel accompanied by the LEC Boys Choir, Brook himself stepped onto the stage to surprise his parents who had not seen him for several months, to thunderous applause and tears from the excited crowd.

Eitan and Jennifer Zimerman were honored at the event for their generous support of LEC.

Morah Leah Barouk and Mrs. Sharon Mirmelli ob”m, two devoted educators who recently passed away, were remembered for their decades of impact in a touching tribute by their former students.

Israel’s former Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau inspired the attendees with an uplifting keynote address and the event culminated in a grand musical presentation by singing sensations Avraham Fried, Yonatan Razel and Chief Cantor of the IDF, Shai Abramson.

Also attending the event were representatives of the Israeli Consulate and the office of Senator Rick Scott, and Congresswoman Frederica Wilson.

Lubavitch Educational Center thanks our staff, parents, and supporters for making this incredible event possible.

Color War at Ohr HaTorah

I can vividly remember as a freshmen my rebbe and menahel, Rabbi Yisroel Kaminetsky, getting up and giving a speech about why we were taking a Friday off from learning to play sports at a local park. He quoted the Gemara Menachos (99b) which states that Hashem was proud of Moshe for breaking the luchot after the לגעה אטח. The gemara explains that at times negating the Torah (like Moshe breaking the luchot) is actually a strengthening of the Torah. While obviously those first luchot were extremely holy, Moshe breaking them sent a message to all of לארשי ינב regarding the severity of their sin and the need to repent and restart. Rabbi Kaminetsky

continued to explain that while we were doing “הרות לוטיב” to go play sports, the goal was that it would actually strengthen our continued learning for the year. Sometimes, the act of leaving the שרדמ תיב, strengthens us to return that much stronger. The idea left an indelible impact on me.

On one level, we can say about Color War that it is a fulfillment of this idea. Taking a few days off from typical learning, truly infuses the rest of the year with new energy and excitement. The talmidim emerged from Color War with renewed passion and enthusiasm. It is certainly a fulfillment of the idea of the Gemara Menachos quoted above.

However, on a deeper level, there is such amazing inherent value in the actual chinuch of Color War. There truly is nothing like it throughout the school year. From the moment Color War begins, there is an entirely different energy in the air. Talmidim are passionate, motivated, creative, happy, and united. We see skills, potential, and sides of talmidim that are difficult to tap into in the routine of yeshiva. Students find themselves in unique circumstances and are challenged to push themselves to their own limits. It is a chinuch that I truly believe changes the lives of all of our talmidim.

Navigating the Dynamic South Florida Real Estate Market:

Signs of a Changing Market

Carroll Group at Compass.

With our team consistently ranked #1 throughout Compass Florida and the top 1% nationallyfacilitating nearly 6 Billion dollars in home sales - I bring you insights grounded in experience and authenticity, backed by the most up-to-date sources.

Market Overview: A Seller's Haven Turns

Since January 2021, South Florida has been a seller's market, with housing prices reaching unprecedented levels. However, since July 2023, we've observed a pivotal shift marked by rising inventory, signaling a changing of the guard; but don’t expect a bursting bubble.

The notion of a "bubble" often comes up from comparisons with the 2008 housing crisis. However, the current situation differs significantly. Before 2021, the South Florida housing market was undervalued. The pandemicinduced relocation wave accelerated growth, balancing pricing with market demand — what we are experiencing is a

The Signs of Change

Initially, the signs of a rising inventory could have been dismissed as a minor fluctuation. But, we're now seeing a clearer trend: as inventory steadily increases, the market will need to adjust. While it's natural for housing prices to ebb and flow, were seeing an undeniable correlation between inventory levels and pricing trends.

Housing inventory by the Numbers: July 2023 - January 2024

- Miami Dade: Inventory rose from 8,992 to 12,327, marking a 14% year-over-year increase.

- Broward: Saw a surge from 7,363 to 11,431 units, a 42.9% increase.

- Palm Beach: Inventory climbed from 7,046 to 10,770, up by 32.5%.

Days a property sat on market also extended slightly across the board, further indicating a market shift.

The data clearly show a market transition, with rising inventory leading to more negotiating power for buyers. This shift, coupled with a modest increase in days to close, signals a gradual move towards a more balanced market.

Practical Tips

- For Sellers: Enhance your home's value through strategic improvements and savvy marketing to achieve the best sale price. Buyers will continue to pay a premium for turn-key properties.

- For Buyers: Look for properties that offer great value, and align your offers with current market conditions for the best deal.

Individuals and Businesses Must Use This “A.I.” Immediately

I was a featured speaker at the recent Small Business Sales and Marketing Summit at the Glenpointe Marriott. I asked the organizers who the typical attendees would be so I could tailor my speech to the audience. However, I got a very broad response: business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs, business executives, and the like. The diversity of the attendees made it a challenge to pick a topic until I came up with what I thought was the perfect universal theme – “How This A.I. Will Change Your Business and Life.”

Before you tune out, let me just say that my A.I. speech was not a discussion about a complex algorithm or a revolutionary technology; rather, it was about a fundamental principle deeply ingrained in human interaction and success: A.I. = Attention and Intention. In the ever-evolving landscape of modern life and commerce, this approach, rooted in mindfulness and consciousness, is the key to personal fulfillment and business success.

My “A.I.” implies the deliberate cultivation of attention and intention in every action and decision. In the context of personal growth, it means being present in the moment, fully engaged with one’s surroundings, and attuned to the needs and objectives that drive us forward. It’s about living mindfully, with purpose and clarity, navigating life’s challenges with resolve and resilience.

In today’s fast-paced world, where distractions thrive, and multitasking is glorified, the practice of “A.I.” offers a sanctuary of focus and awareness. By honing our ability to direct attention where it matters most, we become skilled at discerning priorities, making informed choices, and nurturing

meaningful connections with others. Whether in our careers, relationships, or personal endeavors, the ability to stay attuned to the present moment enables us to seize opportunities, overcome obstacles, and lead lives of purpose and fulfillment.

In the realm of business, the principles of “A.I.” hold even greater significance. In an era characterized by fierce competition and fleeting consumer loyalty, companies that prioritize attention and intention stand out as beacons of trust and reliability. Rather than viewing customers as mere transactions, these businesses understand the value of genuine engagement and empathetic understanding.

To succeed in today’s marketplace, it’s not enough to simply offer products or services; one must also deliver value and build relationships based on trust and mutual respect. This requires a profound commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of customers, anticipating their desires, and exceeding their expectations at every turn. As a consumer, you owe it to yourself to seek out and demand organizations and professionals that can provide that to you!

Those who embody the philosophy of “A.I.” recognize that sustainable success is built on a foundation of reciprocity and goodwill. Instead of

solely focusing on maximizing profits, they prioritize giving back to their patrons, fostering social responsibility, and contributing to the greater good of their community. By aligning their actions with noble intentions and ethical principles, these businesses not only thrive financially but also earn the enduring loyalty and admiration of their members.

The strategy of applying my A.I. method - Attention and Intention - is indisputable, both in personal growth and business achievement. By cultivating mindfulness in our actions and interactions, we shape our destinies and create meaningful relationships and outcomes. Whether as individuals striving for fulfillment or a business aiming for prosperity, the path to excellence begins with a conscious commitment to attention and intention.

The Most Important Sale

I just finished a sales email. It wasn’t a typical salesy email either. I actually believe that it was one of the best sales emails I have ever written.

It wasn’t me singing my products praises. It wasn’t a call to action. It wasn’t even me introducing myself. That’s because it wasn’t sent to a hopeful client, but to a current one.

Hear me out on this one. Success in sales, in my book isn’t how well you bring on clients, but how well a job you do retaining them. Do those we run after, get totally forgotten once they sign on the dotted lines? I’ll admit that I had a hard time with that in the beginning. I used to totally loose focus on those that had brought me my success.

I went to work, looking into previous history on those declined customers. “Have there been any of those declined cards that matched approved cards in the past”, I thought? I struck gold! Yes indeed. I found a duplicate transaction a few weeks back with an approved payment with that same amount.

So, the email I sent was to a current customer. They signed up with my services the first week of 2024. I had been steadily tracking their business over those first two months and all was working seamlessly. I chose this week to reach out and say hi. Keeping in contact with those that trusted us is crucial for client retention.

Before my email, I decided to look through the last few weeks of transactions and see how things have been going for them during this month of March. I logged into their account to make sure all credit card transactions have been running smoothly and approving normally. Ooops. They weren’t. I saw multiple large customer ticket declines.

My planned email to the head of the company with me just casually checking in, had to be scratched. It came to a screeching halt like finding out the spicy tuna roll you were about to eat was made with canned tuna. New plan of action required. Instead,

Next step was understanding why there had been a change of results when they attempted that same transaction, this week. Often times I’m able to tell a reason for a declined card right away, while other times I can’t. I have the ability to look at a declined transaction and know if it was lacking the CVV code (that three- or fourdigit code in front or back of the card), incorrect cardholder information, or even if there were funds lacking on the card. In many instances, however, a credit card decline comes from the card holders issuing bank and I don’t know the reason. When that occurs, I’ll have the business reach out to their customer to in return, get in touch with their card holder bank. This isn’t necessarily the bank they use for their regular banking, but the bank that this specific card is tied to. Its this bank, that flags these transactions. There can be a couple different reasons for these declines as well, one common theme being unusual activity. Once the

bank receives the customers request to approve the initial declined transaction, the business should attempt to run the transaction again and will most likely receive an immediate approval.

Thus, my client interaction was going to be a bit different today. My email instead, was letting them know that I saw some large transaction declines and that I’m running an internal audit to look at potential causes. This was my way of not only letting them know that I took their business seriously, but that I’m here to be a solution prior to them even reaching out.

I know that this correspondence will be going much further than a simple, hi. I’m here actively retaining a client. The best form of sales.

I recently went out for coffee with a local community leader who had a question for me. They wanted to know what what type of sales someone should choose if they decide to make it a career, or at the very least, a stepping stone. My advice was simple. Choose an industry where you’re involved in the full sales cycle, not only in the initial sale. Opportunities will flourish when you learn how to properly deal with current clients. They will be your best source of referred business if you service them properly. It may not always be the easiest, but it will be the most important sale you made. You’re continually selling your value to those that appreciate it and need you too.

LEMON MERINGUE PIE HAMANTASCHEN

You can make hamantaschen without making cookie dough from scratch with this simple, 2-ingredient hack using store-bought pie dough and pie filling!

Thaw the dough, roll, fill, shape and let the hamantaschen baking begin. If you can only find frozen pie dough shells, let thaw and simply roll them out on a floured surface.

INGREDIENTS

• 2 frozen pie doughs thawed completely.

• ½ cup lemon pie filling

• Garnish: powdered sugar, melted white chocolate, lemon or lime zest

PREPARATION

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.

2. Dust the countertop and rolling pin with a little flour. Roll out pie dough to ¼-inch thickness.

3. Cut out 3-inch circles with a round cookie cutter or even a drinking glass. Place 1

teaspoon lemon pie filling in the center of each circle. Fold the left side over the filling into the center, then fold the right side over and then fold the bottom up, creating a triangle, pinch points to secure.

4.Place hamantaschen on prepared cookie sheets and bake for about 10-12 minutes, until just golden.

5. Let the hamantaschen cool then decorate as desired. In the photo we melted white chocolate to drizzle and dip and finished with lime zest.
