JFS IS HERE FOR YOU Dear JFS Friends and Supporters: The Annual Report is an opportunity to reflect back on the past year. During the second year of the pandemic, our staff and clients successfully continued to adapt to new realities. Through our planning process, we realized the need to pay more and better attention to persons with disabilities. This was definitely an area where we required more expertise. Therefore, we added a Disability Liaison to our staff as well as a second Volunteer Coordinator to help manage our growing cadre of volunteers. Our compassionate and professional staff continued to provide high quality services even as they struggled with new risks and focused on client and volunteer safety. Our Board of Directors discovered creative ways to fundraise and began brainstorming for our 50th anniversary celebration. JFS staff developed more sophisticated approaches to collecting data. The data tells us how many lives we are touching and the outcomes of our treatment. Client testimonials also show our impact. When a client says: “I would not have made it if JFS was not there,” we know that our work makes a difference. The ability to receive confidential caring assistance empowers our clients to cope better with their lives. Not surprisingly, social isolation intensified. But JFS was able to maintain contact with people through outreach on the telephone and by sending holiday goodies and handmade cards. As we share this Annual Report, we are cognizant of how complicated life can be. While we may not know what challenges are ahead, JFS will be there to provide a safe space, a listening ear and some pathways to help. Sincerely yours,
Rabbi Allen Juda President
