From Rich Ingram:
For exercise, fellowship, and fine lunches, consider joining the Corte Bella Adventure Group. The group is led by Steve and Beth Downing. Steve (and sometimes others) leads scheduled hikes and bike rides in county parks, conservation areas, and national forests. The excursions allow us to see the beautiful wilderness of Arizona. The group then meets for lunch after the hikes.
Hikes are on Tuesday mornings and are within a half-hour drive, with a few exceptions. Hikes vary in length from 3 to 9 miles. Past hikes include:
• Yavapi and Pipeline Trails at Lake
Pleasant (5 miles), • Mesquite Canyon Trail in the White
Tanks (6.5 or optional 9.5 miles), • Hot Shots Trail in Granite Mountain (6 miles), • Munds Wagon to Cow Pie to
Hangover Loop in Sedona (8.2 miles), • The Go John Trail in Cave Creek
Regional Park (6 miles,) • Thunderbird Conservation Park (3 miles). Bike rides are every Sunday on quiet Sun City West roads. These rides are about 20 - 25 miles long with a coffee break at midway. The group meets at the Anacapa parking lot from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. They also meet on some Saturdays with the option to hike, bike on a path, or mountain bike at Sonoran Preserve’s Apache Wash. Sign up at www.meetup.com.(the Corte Bella Adventure Group) to see the schedule of events and to become a member. Email Steve Downing at sd85383@gmail.com for assistance, if needed. Preparing for a Big Hike: Donna Norton
Knowing we were not in the best of shape for a walk across the Grand Canyon, Vicki Faaborg and I turned to Steve Downing, Adventure Group organizer, for assistance. He was quick to volunteer his knowledge of long hikes and we began to “train” in earnest. Our first “adventure” was to the White Tank Mountain, where we quickly understood why it’s called the “Goat Camp Trail”, given it’s steep ascents and narrow areas. Our next preparatory hike was to Prescott National Forest area to take on 13 miles of up-and-down trails. Steve encouraged our training and even lent me his hiking poles.
Our senior living is accredited for two reasons. You. And your family.
Because having the confidence & peace of mind of accreditation is important.
We think you’ll find that our CARF accreditation is just one of the many reasons to take a good look at The Heritage senior living community.
