Editor Warm, sunny weather just naturally triggers the home-improvement part of the human brain: planting flowers and vegetables, throwing open the windows and letting the breeze blow away the mustiness, pulling out the patio furniture and catching some rays in the yard. But usually after winter there’s much groundwork to lay. What’s the sense of having a beautiful flower bed if your yard is a mess? How is it spring sunshine can make your carpets and floors look so worn and scuffed? Can you really relax in your backyard without noticing your cattywampus fence?
Fortunately, spring is also the time of the Jackson Hole Home Show. This year’s 33nd event, as usual produced by the Jackson Hole News&Guide, will bring to the Snow King Sports and Events Center more than 50 local and regional vendors who want to help revitalize your lawn, make your floors shines and not only straighten your fence but maybe turn your patio into a bone fide outdoor living area. Set for noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the Home Show also presents businesses that specialize in the most cutting-edge wireless technology, news ways to be healthier, tips and tricks (many of them easy and inexpensive) to make a home more energy efficient, and plenty more. Vendors will have on hand tons of information, and many will offer demonstrations, consultations, even giveaways and raffles. On Saturday, four Home Show participants will offer hour-long seminars on invasive weeds, preventing snow and ice damage, do-it-yourself flooring solutions and log home maintenance. Admission is free, and everyone who stops by can enter a drawing to win $250 cash toward a home project. Of course these businesses operate not only during the spring. So when ever you decide it’s time to soften your water, replace your window or add onto your home, or when ever surprise repairs rear up, this publication can serve as a year-round guide to the resources you need to get the job done. – Richard Anderson Editor
