Once the snow recedes from the valley floor and foliage begins to green up, the town of Jackson starts to really bustle. Road repair, water main replacement, breaking ground on new buildings, and the hubbub of crews cranking to make sure last year’s projects are completed before winter blows in again. We all know summer days are finite, which makes them all the more precious. It’s when we can act on that winter dream of remodeling that kitchen, add that hot tub, organize that garage, redo that tiling or make that outdoor living space a bit more livable. Or, if you really value your summer time, it’s time to find the right company to replace your window, repaint your bedrooms or shore up your roof. Timed perfectly to coincide with the very beginning of that fleeting season, the 35th annual Jackson Hole News&Guide’s Home Show is here to help generate ideas, provide the tools and materials you need, or send in the cavalry of experts to save the day. This year’s show runs noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Snow King Sports and Events Center. In addition to vendors there are two DIY seminars are set for Saturday, and the News&Guide offers the chance for all who come to enter a raffle to win $250 toward your home-based project. Some of these vendors — like Brady’s, Grand Teton Floor and Window Coverings, Green Turf Landscaping and Teton Rentals — have been coming to the annual home show for so long, folks stop by their booths just to say hi and to catch up. Many have giveaways, raffles and free gifts at their booths. Then there’s new businesses, too: Brighton Closets and Storage Systems, Knapbag Air Lounger, CarpetPlusTILECOLOR, and more. Be sure to welcome them and check out what they have to offer. The pros are right here, right now to help answer questions. But the pages of this year’s Home Resource Guide can come in handy later in the year or even years hence, with reminders about services, representatives and contact information.
