R PARK A 40-A C RE NATURAL PARK CENTRALLY LOCATED AT T HE N E X U S O F J ACKSON, WILSON AND TETON VILLAGE. Imagine your kids playing safely in a cool pond on a hot day or tossing the Frisbee with friends while relaxing over the weekend, or picnicking along a stream overlooking a beautiful sunset. Rendezvous Park, formerly a gravel pit, is being transformed into a natural park with extraordinary mountain views, vast meadows, extensive levee access, multiple nature trails, winding bicycle pathways, beach access to safe water, and more. R Park is just north of the Wilson Bridge boat ramp and is home to the brand-new $3.2 million Snake River Pedestrian Bridge’s west landing. Accessible by START Bus, boat, bike, rollerblades, running shoes and the like, it will no doubt be a place visited by many. Fans of R Park added, “Most of the Snake River access in the valley is private, so it’s a gift for R Park to be public. It’s an opportunity for families and friends from every walk of life to enjoy the beauty right within our community.

In 2011, with the leadership of two local organizations, generous community members united to purchase the 40-acre property, saving it from high-end residential development. In doing so, the non-profit Rendezvous Lands Conservancy (RLC) and the vision for Rendezvous Park were born. A conservation easement through the Jackson Hole Land Trust (a park founder) has since been completed to ensure the property will remain protected from development, and open to the public in perpetuity.
In a time when studies show that time spent outside, in nature, improves people’s mental and physical well-being, R Park adds to and enhances the option, especially this location that is so convenient. To all who have visited or will visit in the future, remember what this Shangri-La once was, and perhaps what it would have become, were it not for the R Park. Visit and explore this new open space any day of the week between daylight and dark. R Park is hosting a number of events in the 2015 summer including the 3rd annual Summer Solstice Celebration in June and biweekly tours of the park with an array of featured guides, on Tuesdays at 12pm and Fridays at 4pm from June through September. Reliant on donations, each and every gift is impactful and encouraging. More is needed to complete the significant restoration. This summer, 250 cottonwood trees will be planted, providing shade for all who visit, and 9 acres of wetlands will be created, both of which will provide valuable habitat to the local wildlife. Additional gifts will enable the creation of a serpentine-like stream flowing through the meadow, as well as the addition of benches and bike racks. You can transfer your real estate into a limited liability company or family partnership and then put that into the dynasty trust, which can continue for a thousand years. As a result, multiple generations can make use of and enjoy the property, without having to pay estate taxes or worse, having to sell the property in order to pay the taxes. A key point to remember: The trust must be administered in Wyoming.
