Ir. Ellen Gowiko has been working at Avengers M&E Engineering team since 2000 and became one of director in Avengers M&E Engineering Sdn. Bhd with experience in engineering design and management. She leads a broad range of commercial engineering design projects, providing expertise in mechanical and electrical system evaluation, selection, and specification. This includes experience in the latest generation of HVAC and electrical systems. In addition, she has extensive experience in load/energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis.

LAr. Jiahui Sim has over 17 years of experience in both government and private practices in the field of Landscape Architecture. She was involved in 5-years volunteer and current President of Malaysia Native Plant Society. She has an expert-level kowledge of Malaysia native plants, plant distribution, plant ecology, taxonomy and involved in many well-knowned projects in Malaysia. With her intense experience and knowledge of Nature, landscape architecture and environmental planning, she was honored to be one of the judges for the Malaysian Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) Competitions in year 2014 and 2015.

The project is subject to be completed within a time frame of 6 months including design proposal to construction phase starting from April 2017. The requirements to be followed in order to ensure the schedule is on track, • Materials selection like reusable and modular components that can be gotten easily. • Schedule planning of every work phase to be done ahead to ensure a smooth check on work progression. • Progression of work to be tracked constantly and coordination between consultations to be assisted by PM. • All consultants to work and coordinate to be on similar pace to prevent any delay of work on particular part during design till the very last stage of construction.

This project require a well management and coordination of the team. Each consultants is given their tasks to be completed at each phase of the project. The project progression and scope need to strictly follow the Gant chart schedule and work breakdown structure. • Job scope is set to be following Gant chart and WBS for better control and management of work progress/delay or schedule changes. • Progress of work to be followed and monitored throughout the project to prevent any delay of work. • Meeting to be facilitated and organized among the team members to keep all the consultants updated on the project progress and issues.

COST

The overall budget given by client is to be set within RM500, 000 for pavilion construction and RM100, 000 for consultant fees. Cost of fees, materials and labor to be controlled and managed during the project progression and to be discussed with client from time to time. • Material selection to base on durability, costing, quality and reusability. • Material costing to be discussed with client at all time and should be beneficial in long term. • Optimal usage of materials and spending on labor to control budget. 17

OPERATION FLOW

INTRODUCTION - OFF GRID SOLAR PV modules are known as solar panels or solar electric panels. Solar panels provide electricity from sunlight. Solar energy is energy supplied by nature - it is thus free and abundant. Operating and maintenance costs for PV panels are considered to be low, almost negligible, compared to costs of the renewable energy systems. PV panels are totally silent, producing no noise at all; consequently, they are a perfect solution for urban areas and for residential applications. Residential solar panels are easy to install on rooftops or on the ground without any interference to residential lifestyle.

CONS: As in all renewable energy sources, solar energy has intermittency issues; not shining at night but also during daytime there may be cloudy or rainy weather. Solar energy panels require additional equipment (inverters) to convert direct electricity (DC) to alternating electricity (AC) in order to be used on the power network. Solar panels efficiency levels are relatively low (between 14%-25%) compared to the efficiency levels of other renewable energy systems. Though PV panels have no considerable maintenance or operating costs, they are fragile and can be damaged relatively easily; additional insurance costs are therefore of ultimate importance to safeguard a PV investment.

6.2 RAINWATER HARVERSTING SYSTEM

OPERATION FLOW

INTRODUCTION Rainwater harversting is a process of collect and storage of rainwater for non-potable usage such as building cleaning, general household cleaning, cooling towers, Fire Suppression, Landscape irrigation, Pool/Pond Filling, W.C. Flushing and vehicle washing. A Rainwater Harversting System is to Filter and Flush Off initial contaminated rainwater before collection. The Filter and First Flush processes are critical to ensure the collection of cleanliness rainwater, a system without these two processes or with only either one of them are consider as incomplete system, the rainwater collected may not be clean or safe to use in terms of pH.

COMPONENT Catchments - The catchment of a water harvesting system is the surface which directly receives the rainfall and provides water to the system. Coarse Mesh - At the roof to prevent the passage of debris. Gutters - Channels all around the edge of a sloping roof to collect and transport rainwater to the storage tank. Conduits - Conduits are pipelines or drains that carry rainwater from the catchment or rooftop area to the harvesting system. First-flushing - A first flush device is a valve that ensures that runoff from the first spell of rain is flushed out and does not enter the system. Filter - The filter is used to remove suspended pollutants from rainwater collected over roof. Recharge structures - Rainwater may be charged into the groundwater aquifers through any suitable structures like dugwells, borewells, recharge trenches and recharge pits. 51

Suitable for Irrigation: As such, there is little requirement for building new infrastructure for the rainwater harversting system. Reduces Demand on Ground Water: With increase in population, the demand for water is also continuously increasing. Reduces Floods and Soil Erosion: During rainy season, rainwater is collected in large storage tanks which also helps in reducing floods in some low lying areas.

CONS: Unpredictable Rainfall: Rainfall is hard to predict and sometimes little or no rainfall can limit the supply of rainwater. Initial High Cost: Depending on the system’s size and technology level, a rainwater harvesting system may cost highly before it can be derived and ready to use. Regular Maintenance: Rainwater harvesting systems require regular maintenance as they may get prone to rodents, mosquitoes, algae growth, insects and lizards. Certain Roof Types may Seep Chemicals or Animal Droppings: Certain types of roofs may seep chemicals, insects, dirt or animals droppings.

6.4 MECHANICAL VENTILATION SYSTEM 6.4.1 MULTI SPLIT-UNIT AIR CONDITIONER INTRODUCTION The split air conditioner comprises of two parts: the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The outdoor unit, fitted outside the room, houses components like the compressor, condenser and expansion valve. The indoor unit comprises the evaporator or cooling coil and the cooling fan. For this unit you don’t have to make any slot in the wall of the room. Further, present day split units have aesthetic appeal and do not take up as much space as a window unit. A split air conditioner can be used to cool one or two rooms with only one outdoor unit, and allows individual temperature control on each room. Due to the tropical climate in Malaysia, the air movement and temperature, humidity control and air purity should carefully design in a building to achieve user’s thermal comfort.

7.0 LANDSCAPE DESIGN

7.1 SITE CONDITION The site is orginally a vacant area but the authorities have facilitated it as parking lots to feed students’ demands. The site is defined by the contours which has segregated the major road and the carparks in the height difference. Besides, the Syopz mall became the immediate neighbour of the site. The lake aslo marks the edge of the proposed site.

7.1.1 HARDSCAPE As shown in the figures, there are few issues can be observed. The site is basically paved with gravels and the road condition is bad. The cavities are everywhere and this has caused the troubles to pedestrians and vehicles to park on the site. Thus , this site are advised to be flatten and paved with a layer of sands and fine gravels which are lower cost and required low maintainance than brick blocks paving. Besides , there a short distance of concrete block pavement started from the Syopz mall. It is proposed to ammend it and continue it till the exit of the site. 7.1.2 SOFTSCAPE The site is surrounded by the medium sized tree and some bushes. It is partially shaded by the tree and the building at the edges. However, it is exposed to the sun most of the time in a day. Our proposal is to remain the existing topography but adding the vegetation to enhance the landscape and also provided shading to the pedestrians.

7.2 PROPOSED LANDSCAPE LAYOUT The initial idea of the landscape design is to enhance the color scheme of the whole campus , creating a joyful and colorful ambience for the art pavilion. Assorting with the concept of the pavilion design , which is courtyard in the courtyard , landscape design has divided into two layers. The outer layer is themed with the pink color plantation while the internal layer is featured with the yellow themed plantation. Trees are proposed to be located along the passage leading to the pavilion , the bushes form a boundary to the pavilion to minimize the disturbance from the carpark.
