POPULATION
Breastfeeding Mothers I would like to design a piece of furniture to optimize the breastfeeding experience for mom. According to literatures and researches, breastfeeding is the most effective and healthy nursing method to provide children both healthy physical and mental development. During this stage of life, family, especially mothers, would suffer at the first time breastfeeding, and would fatigue more, and being more stressful than other period of time. Also, at this stage of life, family were willing to spend money on creating the best environment for breastfeeding mothers.

CONCERNS
social pattern
The most obvious cognitive issue for breastfeeding was depressing and embarrassing. It was difficult and embarrassing for mothers to breastfeed at the beginning stage, since they might not be able to provide enough milk due to stress, which might discourage them.
Breastfeeding mothers are sensitive to surrounding perceived barriers, families’ attitude, and time constraints. My furniture would provide optional partitions (providing privacy while breastfeeding) and paths for communication to make the communication between the mothers, babies and fathers easier and happier.
behaverial
aesthetic preferences
Breastfeeding mothers will be sleepy (or fatigue) most of the time, and there would be changes in appetite (always hungry), and associated with anemia.
Since breastfeeding moms will be stressful and easily depressed, I am trying to build a cozy and warm atmosphere, and a relaxing, relieving, and memorable breastfeeding experience for them. The primary color of the furniture should be warm, and non-aggressive for users, and there could be secondary colors that stays fun for kids to interact with. The furniture should not be too complex for moms, or family, to figure out how to use, so it should be intuitive in use.
anthropometric considerations The furniture needs to support user’s arm when the mom’s holding the baby, and it should also ensure the most comfortable position (semi-reclinced), since how the angle of maternal recline affects important variables, such as self-attachment and breastfeeding outcomes.
