Precious Memories Film Festival
Giuseppe Tornatore Director Biography GiuseppeTornatore is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He was born on 27 May 1956. He is considered as one of the directors who brought critical acclaim back to Italian cinema. Also considered as one of the directors to bring back critical acclaim Italian films once had, the director has had a career stretching over 30 years writing scripts and directing films. Born in Bagheria near Palermo, Tornatore developed an interest in acting and the theatre from at least the age of 16 and put on works by Luigi Pirandello and Eduardo De Filippo. He worked initially as a freelance photographer. Then, switching to cinema, he made his debut with Le minoranze etniche in Sicilia (The Ethnic Minorities in Sicily), a collaborative documentary film which won a Salerno Festival prize. He then worked for RAI before releasing his first full-length film, Il Camorrista, in 1985. This evoked a positive response from audiences and critics alike and Tornatore was awarded the Silver Ribbon for best new director. During his more than 30 years of professional career, he has been directed and written many good films, such as Everybody’s Fine, The Legend of 1900, Malèna, Baarìa and The Best Offer. Rural life is the hallmark of Tornatore’s “Sicilian” film. In his films, he is good at confronting difficult historical and social issues that most Sicilians rarely discuss themselves-including fascism and the Second World War through the perspective of personal roles and situations. 4

Thread Thread is about the main idea of the film festival. It holds all of selected Giuseppe Tornatore’s films together thematically.
People always yearn for the beautiful world outside. When they walk into the world they desire, they often find that life is realistic and cruel. Over time, they will find that many people and things around will leave. Only memories can be left to their mind.
Guiding Narrative A guiding narrative can be considered as a quick story which help to explain the main idea to others. building a guiding narrative also can shape the style of the photo and provide direction for the visual system.
Who I am an experienced film director who struggles in Rome. I am from a small town in Sicily and have lived in Rome for few years. Where I went back to my hometown and walked down the street. I feel that the town I used to be familiar with has changed greatly. What I look at the crowds and busy streets around me. I remember the moments that happened here. Although the streets has changed, my memories are kept in my mind.

The final identity combines two different typefaces, Mythshire and Nassim Latin. Mythshire is a type of handwritting fonts. The most reminiscent thing is the handwriting. There are many things like etters, diaries, and sketches can bring memories to people. And Nassim Latin looks elegant and contemporary. Its lively texture pays tribute to calligraphic heritage.
