NYC Trip of 2015 – Part 2 Sept. 6, 2015 – NYC trip day 4
Got up at 7:40 am, ate orange, apple; drank coffee. Subway train A to 59# street, Columbus circle. I went to church of Saint Paul the Apostle, about 60th street. Service was about 1 hour.
I planned to go to statue of liberty in the afternoon. While it was weekend, some one told me that there was no subway to the ferry. I had to change subway, take bus. So I dismissed this idea. 1/8
I decided to go to American museum of natural history. Take train C in 59th street, to No. 81 street. $10.5 had lunch in their cafeteria first.
I stayed there to about 17:00.
There were many children there. I love the wall with lots of shells and butterflies. I enjoyed talking some strangers and one senior took photo for me and sent me email later. (Not the photo below)
Went to central park after I left the museum. In between, I met withAndrew . (Andrew talked with me since earlier 2016 and he becomes my good friend. He is an amazing young man studying at the New School for global studies. I believe this guy is going to make some difference!) Bhutan Study Abroad dream, this is one of his dreams. Please support him if you can. You know, God always gives us surprise. Andrew is one of the surprises in my life! I am so honored to have him as a good friend!
I went to Belvedere Castle, Shakespeare Garden in central park. I like the chairs that made from the tree. I like the flowers there. I heard some pretty cello. 2/8
Went back to 175# street. Dinner at El malecon restaurant, I ordered some black bean, yellow rice and some grilled fish. Home by 21:00. Shower, laundry and worked. This is a little inconvenience for me, that I had to go to do the laundry at the laundry place. Worked.
Sept. 7, 2015 – NYC trip day 5
Got up at 8:30. Ate grape, snack, drank coffee. Worked. Talked with M and Lori. I am going to share with you somewords of wisdom from them. M told me, go with flow. Lori told me that fail to plan, plan to fail. M told me that I need to go toBrooklyn bridge. I can go to world trade center, 911, then go cross a park, city hall, then I would see the bridge. He drew a draft for me. How nice of him! M was leaving at about 11:20. Ate leftover after lunch.
Subway train A to 190# street. Walked through Fort Tryon Park. 13:15 – 15:30, the cloisters museums & gardens. One guy from Paraguay, living in NY, took my favorite picture on that day. I also met a friend from Japan, K. We sat at the garden and talked for quite a while. They made my day! 3/8
I saw some jewelry collection there. The location of the park and the Cloisters are great. A river is just nearby. On way back, I met with one guy that took me picture. We talked for a few minutes. He is from Italy. Later, I met with some couple taking photos in Fort Tryon Park. I wish I were the bride, pretty and happily married. Some day in future!!
It was still early. I decided to go to Brooklyn bridge. Train A to 42# street, train 7 to grand central, then train 4/5/6 ( I took No.6, I think) to Brooklyn bridge. I got there at about 16:00. I know city hall is nearby. I really need to go cross the bridge first. It was nice to walk on the bridge and met with people from all over the world, Germany, Spain, Russia, California and some middle east. The seniors from California told me to visit St. Barbara and somewhere. So cute of people!
After I went across the bridge, I walked in a park closeby. It was early September, if you want to see the colorful NYC, you will have to go there in October, I guess. There were some yellow leaves in the park. I wanted to see them and feel the blissful moment. So I sat down 4/8
on a chair. I then talked with one girl from the Phillipines. Then train A to 175# street.
$8.19 ($1.49 lettuce, $5.16 walnut cake, $1.54 olive) La rosa fine foods $8.7 El Malecon, half roast chicken, red bean. Went back home at 20:15. Shower. Drank coffee, at walnut cake, worked. George Washington bridge is lit up tonight! For holiday (labor day)
Sept. 8, 2015 – NYC trip day 6 Got up at 7:40. Ate grape, banana. Worked. Went out at 9:50. Train A to 59# street, then train 1 to south Ferry. 11:00 am go to Ferry. Exchanged ticket. Took Ferry to the statue of liberty national monument. 11: 40 got to statue of liberty island. 12: 10 left the liberty island. Took ferry to Ellis island. That is an island for immigration in old days.
5/8
14:00 took Ferry back to NYC (New York City). $5 seaglass the battery park. I know this is new. Even it is expensive for only 3.5 minutes, I wanted to do that.
Took train 1 to Rector street. $14.47 George’s & Son’s (sandwich, French soup). It was not bad. I ordered as a senior did.
I passed by church street and I think I sawthe trinity church. Wallstreet bull: I was looking for wallstreet and wallstreet bull. While I was wondering, I saw many people at one spot, then I saw the bull!!
Then I walked to the 911 memorial museum. (I do not remember why I chose this day to go there, but I took advantage that it was free on that day. Please go to their website and find more information before you go. the 911 memorial museum ) 17:00- 18:19. I cried when I walked into the museum hall. I just could feel the grief on the day and those lost their family 6/8
or friends in 911. I did not go through all the places, special the 5 or 6 rooms recalling on that day. I could not handle and I did not want to see them. I thought the 2 pools are kind of unique design.
Took train C to 59# street Columbus circle, then train 1 to 66# street Lincoln center. I met with H at the fountain at about 19:00. She is very nice and pretty. She walks fast. She treated me dinner at a nice Italian restaurant, some kale salad with shrimp, and espresso. We ate and talked to about 21:20. She walked me to subway. Train 1 from 72# street to 59# street, then Train A back to 175 street. Home by 22:15. Shower, coffee. To be continued.
