Tipping in USA, one of the first items that you need to learn and quickly get it, either you just come here for travel or you move here.
In China, I am not quite sure about now, usually, you do not give tips when you eat at restaurant. It is a major difference when I just moved here. While, it is not hard to get used to it once I understand more and more. Many people who work at restaurants rely a lot on tips. This taught me: 1, gratitude; 2, respect every one; 3, service.
It can go more and more. One thing I applied today was I gave tipping USD 1 for a guy at firestone who put more air to my tires. I do not know how to do this by myself. Either my friends help me or I go to some tire place and ask them for help. Usually, this is a free service. Yesterday, when I noticed the “back tire pressure is low” notice, I wanted to have it fixed today. And I wondered about the fee. So I talked again with the guy there, his name is Robert. Same reply, it is free. Today, I asked him, “do other people give tips?” He said “sometimes. It is all good.” Unlike before, I went to get my purse and gave him USD 1. I was not quite sure if it is enough, but I felt better when I gave him tipping. 1/3
I never like to take advantage of any one.
Because of today, I think of another tipping in the digital world. I thought about what extra mile I can go when I shared with Rob’s blog. Yes, I need to add “call to action”. I said “If it helps you, please send some love and share in social media for him.” I do not put this in every post when I share. I guess I need to do this more. Do you know why you need to share if it helps you? Because it is just like the tipping, you do not want to always be a free receiver, you want to raise your awareness by giving something for the author, acknowledging his working. That is a better digital attitude. What do you think?
