RH | a company is born Stephen Gordon was on a mission for quality doorknobs + fixtures to furnish his recently purchased Victorian home. He became obsessed with finding the perfect fixtures but these perfect, one-of-a-kind pieces were out of his price range. He began gathering photocopied catalogues of various fixtures he found interesting and invited friends to come peruse his collection of binders. In 1979, Gordon gains numerous customers when he purchases of a small package of radio ad thus establishing the RH brand.
To enhance appreciation for the stores eclectic product mix, Gordon began writing signage to justify why items were in store. The personal tone of these descriptions reinforces the impression that RH wants to share its wonderful “finds� with shoppers rather than merely promote merchandise.
RH | creative curators RH serves as a curator of the finest historical design the world has to offer. Head curator and CEO Gary Friedman travels the globe looking for artisans to enhance the stores diverse offering. The RH brand believes seeking partnerships with knowledgeable designers serves the company better than in-house design. An appreciation for quality, tailoring, & worldly travel is the essence, the integrity, and the core of the Nonoo label and of Misha Nonoo herself.
Born in Bahrain and raised in London by an Iraqi father and English mother, Misha Nonoo’s multicultural upbringing exposed her to a diverse collection of references, providing her a deep appreciation for global artistry. Nonoo graduated from London’s business school and immediately moved to New York City for hands on experience within the fashion industry. She worked one-on-one with designers flat patterning, draping and traveling to fabric shows. It was throughout her apprenticeship she developed a strong attention to tailoring + construction.

Her feminine aesthetic focuses on classic silhouettes with an added twist of great detail and her collections center around impeccable quality, construction, + tailoring. Nonoo | aesthetic Nonoo has an extreme passion for traveling and is known to collect shiny, interesting, and detailed artifacts from all around the world. These, in combination with architectural lines and scenery, are often the concept behind every collection she designs. Blake loves the feeling of her West Village loft on Sunday evening. It has a certain silence that isn’t eerie. A tranquil remedy necessary after her recent hectic days. A 6am wakeup call may sound crazy, but Blake hates wasting her days off sleeping. And after working in the office around the clock, her ‘me-time’ is precious. Her cardinal rule ‘never taking the same route anywhere’ is the result of living in Paris for two years. This life motto urged her explore this city so deeply rooted history all while igniting Blake’s intense passion for architecture and taste for luxurious fabrics. Continuing these small adventures throughout New York satisfies her constant crave of travel. Blake is known to be an explorer of trends but always retreats to things she trusts; seamlessly melding the old with the new.
