CO-CREATIVE RESEARCH

SCHEMER https://www.schemer.com/home

BACKGROUND Schemer is a google-based website that is similar to an online bucket-list. Using a google plus account users are able to visit the website and sift through multiple activities and add them to a “To Do” List. They are able to see what other people have done to learn about their experiences and receive recommendations. It’s a fun website that allows users to track what they want to do and what they have done.

DESIGN The design of the site is quirky and fun. It’s organized like a social network, each user has a profile and a newsfeed that allows them to keep up with their friends’ schemes. The menu has creative titles, but are still easy to navigate through to find what you may need. The activities are organized by categories and can be filtered through to exaclty what the user is looking for. It’s very easy to scroll through the list of activities and add it to your “To Do” List and then check it off once you have completed it.

ENGAGEMENT This site is a great example of co-creation. Users create the content of the page by supplying schemes or “To Do” activities as well as feedback about those activities. Users are able to set up a profile and make their own Bucket List and in the process inspire others to do similar activities. You can find people with similar interests and discuss these activities. People are able to brainstorm and discuss trying something new. Users are also able to have accomplices or friends and keep up with their activities and how much they’re accomplishing. It’s a fun site that evokes a sense of belonging. It’s easy to add your own schemes and inspire to do others as well. It’s fun to let others know what you’ve been doing and to check things off your list. Users can also inspire others to do similar activities.

BUZZNET http://www.buzznet.com/

BACKGROUND

ENGAGEMENT

Buzznet is a photo, journal, and video-sharing social media network. Similarly to other social media sites, Buzznet is a space where users can share content based on their interests. However, Buzznet focuses primarily on fostering a community interested in music, pop culture, and the media.

This is another site the demonstrates co-creation. The users must create a profile and share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences based on music, fahion, celebrities, etc. Users contribute to articles written by other users as well. The content of the site is contributed by the users, they are free to submit what they like and other users are welcomed to comment and respond to it. The site generates a community of people who share a commonality for fashion, music, and the media. Unlike with social media sites users are able to contribute to this site based on a specific interest and find others who are interested in the same things. It’s always a good to have a place where users can feel a part of a community and share their interests with others.

DESIGN This site is a little overwhelming, there is a lot of content to sift through to find what you need. Although it’s a lot to take in it’s appropriate for the site as the media is often information overload. The site is organized, but it takes some time to get used. It’s jam packed with images, text, and videos. It’s easy enough to share and contribute. Each user has a profile that they are able to edit and customize. Overall, the site is easy enough to use, but takes some time to figure it all out.

Users are able to narrow down the library of books to their specific tastes and read reviews from other users. The site contains thousands of books that users are able ot search through and find that next great

This website demonstrates co-creation because the users provide the feedback and comments for each book. The site generates these titles of books and allow users to sift through them and find what they like. Then users are able to read reviews and discuss the books with other users. They can follow people with similar interests and keep up to date on what they’re reading. Users can participate in reading challenges, recommend books for friends, etc. This site gives people a place to keep a log of the books they have read, want to read, or just want to hear about. Again, this is another community based website that allows its users to feel a part of something.

INTERFACE PROPOSAL

PROPOSAL NO. 1

I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT... TOPIC: TRAVEL The concept for this idea stems from the desire to create a web-based community for people who love to travel or are interested in travel. Users will have the ability to create a profile, interact with each other, share photos, reviews, and favorite spots.

STAGE

OUTCOME The outcome I’d like to see from this interface is an open site where people can have the freedom to share what they know about there favorite locations around the world. Users will be able to learn from real people and learn about amazing locations that are a must see.

DOCUMENTATION I’d like to create a virtual map that users can pinpoint the locations they’ve visited, write reviews, give recommendations and advice to other users wanting to visit the same location.

ENGAGEMENT This interface will allow people to connect with others and share personal stories and experiences during their travels. Users will have the ability to read reviews of travel spots, find the hot spots, and see photos.

UPLOAD INFORMATION

BROWSE AND INTERACT

The documentation for this interface will rely on user participation, for comments, reviews, photographs, etc. The map with pin points will also be a big piece in the documentation.

PRODUCTION In order to create this interface I’ll need to create a map that people are able to click and add the location they visited. I’ll also need people to submit feedback and responses based off those locations. I think I’ll definitely need an advisor/tutor to help me with the utilization of google maps and the ability to add and track pins on a map.

I’d like to organize local spots by city, so that users can search by destination, see a list of local spots, and then read reviews and view photos from others users. It will also be easy for users to submit reviews and comment with each other to create a sense of community. Users will submit photos and stories via email.

SAY HELLO

TOPIC: TRAVEL/POSTCARDS The purpose of my site is to create a place for users to upload travel photographs and create their own postcard. Users can choose to use their own photographs or choose from a gallery of photographs submitted by other users, as long as credit is given. Users will have the option to send completed postcards via email, share to facebook, or print and send the old fashioned way. I think creating your own postcard creates a more personal sentiment rather than just purchasing one and the ability to customize it, makes it more fun!

STAGE

OUTCOME The outcome I’d like to see from this site is to give new life to the postcard. I feel like not many people send postcards anymore and I would like to bring that trend back. When I look back at old postcards, it’s interesting to see the handwriting and what a friend or loved one had to tell me about the place they were visiting. I’d love to have a collection of custom postcards and travel photos. Maybe users could even submit postcards they received and that could be another element of the site.

DOCUMENTATION In terms of the stage I’d like to set for this site, their would be two components. One, the user would choose whether to upload their own photograph or choose one from the gallery. If they choose to upload their own they will then proceed to the customization stage and add text. Then they would write their letter and choose how to send. Two, if the user chose to use someone else’s photograph they would browse the gallery by city, choose their photograph then proceed to the customization step.

ENGAGEMENT Users will be able to submit and browse through photographs. Users will have the option to upload a photograph or choose one from the gallery and create a postcard to send via email, share through facebook, or send through the mail. I would also like for completed postcards to be archived for users and visitors to browse through for inspiration or reuse if they so choose.

The documentation would rely on the photographs and completed postcards users submit and create. A gallery of photographs will be able to be filtered via city to use when customizing photographs. Then there will be a gallery of completed postcards that users can browse through for inspiration. Another form of documentation in the future could be a book, showing the collecting of custom postcards.

Once directed here, users can choose the appropriate amount of photos and they will be saved to their postcard creation.

SHARE

When the front of the composition is completed, users are able to insert their text and write their letter. They are also able to add the address (if needed/wanted) of the person they are writing to.

Once the postcard is completed, users are welcome to share it in a multitude of ways. Facebook, email, download, or upload to the gallery.

POSTCARDS From the homepage, users are able to navigate to the gallery of completed postcards. Here they are able to scroll through different postcards (blog format). Users will be able to flip over the images to view the front and back. Also, information of the creator will be available.
