Mr. President, We Love You Mae is a young girl who loves her country. Every day in school she looks at the picture of her president and says how much she loves him. Everyone in school must do this. The president is the most important man in the country. He makes all the decision. Mae loves her president because he takes care of her and her family. Last year Mae’s father did not make any money. He had no job because the economy was bad. Mr. President tried to fix the economy. Nothing worked. Other countries tried to send food to the country. Mr. President did not like those countries. He did not take the food from them. Maybe the food was poisoned. Mr. President says other countries are the enemy. He protected us from them. Still, many people died of hunger. Mr. President worked hard to help the economy. This year Mae needs new shoes. Her mother goes to the government office to ask for new shoes. Mae is on a list to get new shoes. The government will send them to her when they can. Mae’s family does not have to buy shoes! Mr. President and the government help decide who gets shoes and other supplies. Mae loves her country and her president!
