A Christmas Quote:
We Wish You a ‘Yummy’ Christmas!
We would all love a great snowball fight at Christmas time but unfortunately (or fortunately if you don’t like the cold) we are pretty unlikely to ever be making snowmen in Australia at Christmas time. We have found the perfect snowball substitute and the best bit ... they taste great!
What you will need: 1 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup Icing sugar, sifted 1 teaspoon vanilla 2-1/2 cups flour, sifted 1/4 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup pecans, chopped More Icing Sugar to Dust
Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect." ~ Oren Arnold

There were two biscuits, on a plate, all ready for Santa to eat. One biscuit decided to go and hide in the biscuit tin as it didn't want to get eaten. As it was going to the kitchen, Santa came in and stood on it and all the other biscuit could say was ‘Crumbs’!

Christmas Greetings!
The idea of sending Christmas cards was created by Sir Henry Cole in England in the 1840’s. He was very interested in the brand new Public Postal Service and he wanted to encourage more of the common people to use it. Before this ‘Penny Post’ as it was called began, only rich people could afford to send anything in the post. Sir Henry and his friend John Horsley, an artist, designed the first card and sold them for one shilling each. The card was made up of three panels, showing people caring for the poor and a family sharing a large Christmas dinner. One shilling was about how much it cost to buy a dinner in a restaurant in the 1840s, so it was still quite an expensive Christmas card! These days it’s cheaper, you can just send an e-card!

y Channel, With Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam about to hit Disne sequel… Hurrah! here’s what fans can expect from mega musical
Want to follow in the footsteps of the Camp Rock 2 cast and shine like a star on the small screen? Of course you do! We quiz the gang for their ultimate performance tips. Follow their advice and you’ll be bagging an Oscar in no time…
STAR TIP ONE: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Kevin Jonas says: “If you want to make it as an actor then it’s a good idea to train and practise as much as possible. Sign up for the school play and head to the library to check out scripts and plays that you can practice at home. Practice makes perfect!”
STAR TIP TWO: NEVER GIVE UP!
Joe Jonas says: “My number one tip is: Never give up. It sounds like a very clichéd thing to say, especially if you’re a musician or an actor, but if you really love performing then you’ve got to stick with it. I’m not saying everyone can be a super star because that’s not real – but if you love it, you should try it out and see if it works for you.”
STAR TIP THREE: STAY POSITIVE
Nick Jonas says: “It’s really important to stay positive in this industry. There’s a lot of rejection and it can be tough to win roles at auditions, but it’s much easier if you stay positive. It also helps if you have a great support system behind you. I don’t know where we’d be if we didn’t have an amazing family to fall back on. Stay true to yourself and keep positive!”
STAR TIP FOUR: THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
Demi Lovato says: “It’s true when people say, ‘The show must go on.’ If you’re performing and you fall over or your outfit rips, you just have to carry on as if nothing happened. Thankfully, I’ve not had too many wardrobe malfunctions, but I’ve had some pretty bizarre experiences on stage. At one point, my boots came unzipped. I tripped over, but I just had to dust myself off and carry on with the show.”
STAR TIP FIVE: BE YOURSELF!
Matthew ‘M Dot’ Finley says: “When it comes to auditions, it’s important to be yourself. Auditions are tough and you never know what the casting directors are looking for. You could’ve performed the role perfectly, but they might be looking for something else completely or someone with a completely different look to you. Don’t try to be anyone you’re not. Own the audition. Be confident and go for it!”
STAR TIP SIX: STAY IN CHARACTER!
Meaghan Martin says: “I’m a big believer in improv training. It has really helped me and it’s a great way to learn more about acting. I have a lot of fun with improvisation and I take a class every week when I’m in LA. If your co-star forgets a line, improv helps you stay in character and carry on as if nothing has gone wrong at all!”
STAR TIP SEVEN: GO FOR A SPIN!
Roshon Fegan says: “I’ve got the perfect tip if you mess up in choreography. I’ve been asked before what people should do if they lose the steps and want to get back on track. I tell them that there are always about four counts or beats and then a spin to get into the next move. In about 99.9% dances, the move ends with a spin, so spin and start back again. Hopefully you’ll be fine. This happened to me on the set of Camp Rock 2 – but I always got back on track after I went into the spin. Hopefully nobody notices any mistakes!”
STAR TIP EIGHT: GET INVOLVED!
Anna Maria Perez de Tagle says: “You’ve got to start somewhere, so join a local drama club or take acting classes. Get involved with your local theatre or sign up for the play at school. If your friends are interested in acting with you, try setting up a school drama club. Get involved in any way you can because every piece of experience helps!”
STAR TIP NINE: CLASSES AREN’T FOR EVERYONE!
Alyson Stoner says: “Acting classes work for some people, but they don’t work for everybody. I attended two or three acting classes, but I found that learning other peoples’ techniques made me act like a robot. When I can connect with a character on a deeper level, that’s when I think I shine the most. That’s certainly what I did with my character in Camp Rock 2. If classes don’t work for you, don’t worry. There are other ways to learn more about the craft.”
STAR TIP TEN: KEEP ON TRYING!
Chloe Bridges says: “I’ve probably made loads of mistakes in my life – both on stage and off stage – but it’s important to keep on trying. I recorded a song on the piano for Camp Rock 2 and I made mistakes that no-one would’ve known about had I not mentioned anything. If I make a mistake when I perform, I usually carry on as if nothing has happened and I don’t let it show. It works for me and it can work for you!”

Found in Africa’s tropical rainforests, the massive Goliath Beetle can grow up to 13cm long. That’s as big as your whole hand! The name comes from the biblical warrior giant, Goliath. They are black and white, and the males have a “Y” shaped horn on the front of their heads for fighting. They eat tree sap and fruit, but in captivity they also like to eat dog food. They can fly and are often kept as pets. They are not poisonous and are very gentle giants!
The Goliath Bird Eating Spider is the biggest of all arachnids (spiders). These big, fat creepy crawlies live in the rainforests of Northern South America. While they are strong enough to catch birds and eat them, they usually stick to a diet of other insects, mice, lizards, bats and snakes. They can grow up to 30cm across (that’s as wide as your ruler!) and weigh nearly as much as a small tub of margarine. They are quite docile and will only bite in self defence, but are not very poisonous to humans. The female Goliath Bird Eating Spiders can live for 25 years, while the poor boys only live for about six years.
