Introduction: This is my 2018-2019 works portfolio in which two relevant works are introduced in both Brisbane and Shanghai respectively. These two works will take you on a journey which strongly illustrates the various skills that I have learned and received under the guidance of Marshall Strabla (Former SOM Studio Head) and Will Marcus (Managing Director and Principal of Argo Architects). SINAGTALA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN RECONSTRUCTING HOMELAND AFTER FIRE

Following the completely devastating fire that started at 4.30pm on the 30th of April 2019 and destroyed the Barangay Sinagtala community completely, only 1 building survived; the small 50 seat chapel. The village was most likely lost because of an electrical fire and because all of the Sinagtala homes were built from scavenged materials, typically wood, metal sheet and plastics. The Barangay was like kindling to the fire and very quickly, the whole Barangay was engulfed in flame. Miraculously, everyone got out in time and without injury and only two other homes in an adjacent Barangay were lost to the flames. With predictable speed, the He Cares Mission led by Brother Joe Dean and his wife, Sister Ardis Sola responded, providing a hot meal every day for over 1,000 of the newly homeless. Also, tents, clothes, toiletry kits, counselling and spiritual care have been provided since the fire. The folio will introduce two schematic presentation for the local government.

DESIGN INDEX & AIMS

The new Sinagtala will be: 1. Fire resistant 2. Rehousing all existing land owners 3. Rehousing as many other displaced non-land owning residents as possible. 4. Have retail and commercial opportunities planned inside the Barangay so that all families will have at least 1 full time job possibly available to them. 5. Reinstating all existing economies that existing prior to the fire, such as weaving. 6. Create dignified and durable homes, generally with 3 bedrooms, and some with one bedroom, so that boys’ and girls’ bedrooms are separate from their parents’ bedroom. Each home generally being able to sleep 6 comfortably and 10 at a maximum. 7. Durable and capable of withstanding a Category 5 Hurricane and Earthquakes up to 7.5 on the Richter scale. 8. Food secure. Meaning that food production in the new masterplan is a priority and as much of the food the community requires as possible will be grown on site. The “Food Cube” is an aquaponics based food production facility which will supply fresh, organic food such as fish, crabs, vegetables, berries, nuts, chickens and eggs. 9. Beautiful. Great care to include trees, flowers and shrubs throughout the Barangay in ‘Pocket Parks’ will enhance the visual quality of the space, create oxygen, cool the environment

Introduction: Led by Marshall Strabala (Former Senior Associate & Head Studio at SOM; Chief Architect of Shanghai Tower when he was at Gensler) Working with the Architectural team for this project in almost one year. Mainly being in charge of schematic documentation for Landscape part, Architectural concept progress which includes floor plan layout, canopy design, curtain wall study, & architectural module study.

The architectural concept progress delivers two different schemes for comparison with retail layout & podium plan.

The core area of Zhongguancun national independent innovation demonstration area, where site locates, has nearly 10000 high-tech enterprises and 6151 state-level high-tech enterprises, accounting for 1/10 of the country's total. China three new board market, which has 11639 listed companies, is selecting the site, and their primary intention is in Weigongcun community plots.
