Author:Jinghui Liu

Introducion For the butterfly, although the pupa is an immobile and neither eats nor drinks since the mouth and sealed over, the emergence of beauty is preceded by the color pigment happening during the stage of metamorphosis. Consciously transformation from the young graduated architect typically tended to be the comprehensive position within the social, economic, technical and environmental contexts. The pupa illustrates a place where the matters, elements, behaviors, body skin, personalities and ideas prepared to be the vision of adult performing. The relevant works in the portfolio are basically from the international competition & Argo Architects. For the competition works, Jinghui continued on the experimental design method with psychological neuro-network, biological metamorphosis, nonlinear behavioral generation and swarm intelligence. Jinghui worked as the landscape architect, urban planner and animator at the Argo Architects & Blue Ring Landscape Remediation between 2016 and 2017. The relevant works in last two years are highly linked with the tendency of transforming, becoming and variation. Jinghui began to focus on the relationship between the virtualization and design resolution with the innovative digital visualization. The pupa is the concept not just for the space making, also for the temporal fabrication, which is the position of thinking, changing and growing quietly.

Paper Cocoon Site: Collodi, Tuscany, Itlay

Duration: Oct - Dec 2017 Team Member: Jenny Wu(Landscape Architect); Yiqun Chen(Architectural Resolutioner) Jinghui Liu(Project Director; Architectural Director); QUT Workshop(Model Maker)

Paper cocoon is a metaphoric vision or story for the project of Pinocchio children library. The story has three parts. First one is regarding the stage of larva which relied on the host plant / host color/ host program. The larva is the character of the primary stage of the library, which is before the progress of variation and fabrication. It seems to be the vision of baby. And the host objects are the characters of adults which related with the programs including the media room, exhibition hall, auditorium room, café, reception, work shop and car park. Thus, the library is like the baby or larva who hosts on some specific colors, or different color qualities. Paper is a product related with culture and history of the site, where is the one of the critical place for paper manufactory lasting around five hundred years at Tuscany. The material of paper potentially could be the texture and elements for the cloths, which is made of the texture seems to be the fleeze, straws and thatching. The paper fabric is the library’s surface quality for the stage of cocoon during the metamorphosis. The second part is the stage of cocoon, which is a space of library (a mental world with neural-psychological variation). Besides the communications, movement and expression, the library boy transferred from the paper factory precinct is a fairy tale of paper boy who has the thinking, psychological variations, perceptions, and behavior. The hosted color and objects would reflect into the cocoon’s interior fabrication system. For the butterfly, although the cocoon is an immobile and neither eats nor drinks since the mouth and sealed over, the emergence of beauty is preceded by the color pigment happening during the stage of metamorphosis. The color would be the critical elements for affecting individual’s functions, emotions and behaviors. For this project, the behavioral generation of library is under the model of neuro-psychological network with the different color parameters. The hosted color including red, orange, yellow, blue, green and the quality of dark black are the basic code with the different frequency , which are regarded as the primary neuron for the system of network algorithm. The potential emergence of more color neurons would be supported by the nonlinear becoming system of neural-network for the library behavioral fabrication. Generally, the coding of library is based on different meaning of functions like the place of reading, talking and learning etc. The coding of children library for this project is inspired from children’s varied perception, emotion and neuro-psychology forward their color surrounding. The third stage is regarding the beauty of open garden and nectar source which including the color network outside. And the beauty is presented to be open, public and ecological quality.

The Experimental Process of Virus Fabrication: In this project, the swarm technology and intelligence are utilized into stimulating the virus movements from the mall to the office tower. The viruses as the swarm agents or genes have the programs of the reproduction (duplications or replications), invasion (cohese), detachment (deconstruction), and mutation (regeneration). After being infection by the virus, the morphs and shapes of gene tumors are embedded within the existing grid form of office tower. The existing surface of cells is potential in being mutated in next stage.

23

The DNA Mutation with Virus Infection (Animals; Half-People; People) Virus in this project would be a “Hero”, which destroys the dogmatic formation of office elitism. The nature and people have been mutated to the elitism. In the other word, people are far from the animal and nature. However, the DNA virus would pollute the original office environment potentially, and disturb the “autism” of elite. In this project, the virus infected targets are categorized to people, half-people and animals. These three characters are infected each other, and protected from each other. Thus, the nature, elite and populism are interwoven each other through the behavioral formations of architecture.
