ELECTRICAL & AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM Electrical By-Laws: Electricity Supply Act 1997 [ACT 447] P.U. (A) 38/94 ELECTRICITY REGULATIONS 1994 - Regulation 15, Apparatus, conductor, accessory, etc. Any conductor or apparatus that is exposed to the weather, water, corrosion, undue heating or used in inflammable surroundings or in an explosive atmosphere shall be constructed or protected in such a manner as to prevent danger.

- Regulation 16, Switch, switch fuse, fuse switch, circuit breaker, contractor, fuse, etc. (3) Any fuse or circuit breaker shall be (a) costructed and arranged in sucj a manner so as to break the current when it exceeds a given value for such a sufficient time to prevent danger; and (b) constructed guarded or placed in a manner as to prevent danger of overheating, arcing or from the scattering of hot metal or other substance.

Reasonings: > The power supply into the building is increase by increasing the size of the wires. This will allow the users to use a higher voltage appliances.

SEWERAGE & DRAINAGE SYSTEM Sewerage System By-Law: Laws of Malaysia Act 1333, Street Drainage and Building Act 1974 - Under the Laws of Malaysia Act 1333, no water-pipe, stack-pipe or down spout used for conveying surface water from any premises shall be used or be permitted to serve or to act as a ventilating shaft to any drain or sewer. Reasonings: > UPVC pipes are used for both waste pipe and soil pipe as the area is near the sea, and it is more cost effective.


WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

Water Supply System By-Laws, UBBL 1984 - Under UBBL By-Laws 84, suitable measures should be taken to prevent penetration of dampness and moisture into building. - Under UBBL By-Laws 89, a chase made in wall for pipes and other service facilities shall leave the wall at the back of the chase, not less than 100mm thick in external and not less than 100mm thick in a party wall and shall not be wider than 200mm. - Under UBBL By-Law 123, allowing adequate accomodation for pipes, stop cocks to enable repairs, and access openings to ducts or enclosure. Reasonings: > Valves are placed at many points to ease repairs or inspection > Pumps are used in this area as the water pressure is due to the water tank which is located on the 1st floor.
